Miss Heroin, I hope you realize you have always been nothing but a groupie in his eyes. I think he wrote the song about you just because he saw how pathetic you are and that you always tried to cling to him. He felt sorry for you - and still does. Get off the drugs, darlin. Get a life. You may have hung onto him all these years, and he tosses you bones and such, but you are still just a groupie. and you get one everybody's nerves. He has a wife ok? You are the groupie - go away.
now the woman he LOVE, is his WIFE.....his soul mate - the one he has loved since he laid eyes upon her. So sad that the groupie girl thinks that maybe she would be the one whom he loved.........not ever. Sorry sweetie - I know you've spent some years here, but you will alwyas ONLY be the groupie and so good for his ego. Every star needs one. And loves having one. And gives back to the groupie as much as they can. But she's always only that - a groupie.

@69mercuryrx7 That's the way it is with Leon. You either love him immediately or you just can't. I'm one of the lucky ones who loved Leon the moment I saw him on stag with Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen when I was 14, and I've been under his spell ever since with happily no end in sight.
Enjoy it....we wont see the likes of Leon Russell agian in this lifetime.Thankfully hes still playing.I always thought leon and jj cale were the american equvalent of the beatles...They both wrote/played/recorded amazing music...You okies shook the world..changed it forever
He´s just 29 in this video. I never thought, that young man could look so awesome and hot with a grey hair . !! And during a five-six years later he became totaly white. Just incredible.... :-)
You folks DO know this is originally a song by Robert Leroy Johnson, The Father of the Blues. Song dates back to the 30's. Obviously Leon knew real blues when he heard it. Johnson died very young, back in 1938. He was only 27 years old.
LOL!!! Wow he just said somebody's got a red Volkswagen out in the parking lot. Thats definitely not in the real song. How badass is that?! Leon russell is so smooth...
this is rather emotional for me, I'm practically in tears. All this time I have dreamed of seeing this again. This was perfectt. Claudia was perfect!!!!. I've loved her all these years. somewhere Ive got a reel to reel of this off the old grey whistle test. God I loved it so so much. From memory, the third 'song' was Caravan. I want to hear that again, even just once before I die. Thank you for this. Thank you.
Thanks for posting this! I have been looking for this video since it aired over 35 years ago. Can you post the rest of this concert, especially "Big Boss Man"? Thanks again.
Sorry about that. I must have read post wrong. My apologize.

Try Robert Johnson when Leon was a twinkle in his moms eye.
stephenabelsr 2 weeks ago
@stephenabelsr Huh? I never said Leon wrote this. I know it's a Robert Johnson song from back in the 1930's.
