Blender 3d is so much better. It's more advanced then Torque with its features and the actuall freedom to create. Oh, and its completely FREE with a huge community.
sorry laxwolf i'm a big fan but i think your wrong torque isnt restricted to logic bricks and it uses c++ not pyton and all the big game companys use c so yeah i use the bge but i think the tgea is better sorry Bud best of luck with pfo
Cheese whiz. I can't even test the demo so much it's heavy. There is even lag in this video. How can I imagine doing a funny game, fast, with no lag? No with this engine I guess.
10K? 10,000 dollars? I'm confused. The engine is $295, and a $900 computer could easily run the system. Hell, most $50 video cards come with Shader 2.0 support.
I'm working on a $1500 rig, but that's because I also do a lot gaming, programming, and content generation. It barely blinks an eye at TGEA's most advanced demo with all features turned up to max.
Ok, I finally get the things to work, and it's as complicated as 3DsMax to manage. I'm doing a program right now with all the automatic functions to easily modeling a character, terrain, animation, physical estimations, collision and IA. I estimate it's the only way to do a masterpiece at the level of my own winning standard.
Not if downloaded the engine from a torrent. If you do not purchase a license, you can not publish your game or access private sections of the site (and TDN).
Its not really Exspensive either way, if you qualify for Indie, its only $295, one of the best deals out there for a game engine, and if you only qualify for commercial its $1495, which is a pretty penny but its still a good deal for an engine compared to some others.
Too bad you can't publish a game, or access the private forums, or get help from the employees, or be accepted by real game developers...wow...what can you do?
I wouldn't make a multiplayer game with this, (I'd use the normal version) but it would be my only choice if i was using Torque for a single-player game.
i was making a game for the longest time but i was gunna use blender game engine but wen i finished making a demon model..my comp said i only had 1.5 mb left.....so i stopped and deleted it all....
Yes I'm still making my game. & I decided just to make the game free to all, cause it was to confusing to work out a system for that......But before I luanch my game, I'm gonna launch a smaller scale game I'm making just to see how things work out & stuff.
lol! I downloaded all of your programs in less than one day with my crappy internet connection for FREE! All the Torque engines, and blackcode's sprite and model pack with 200+ 3D models xD. oh and it also can with 3D programming all-in-one book (with Cd of course)

Torque tech is built using C++, and has its own proprietary scripting language (TorqueScript).
Python is not supported out of the box, and it is not a version of C++.

Sounds like you need to get a video card with at least Shader 2.0 support, and maybe a bit more RAM and CPU power.
Lots of developers, Indie and hobbyist, are developing with TGE and TGEA using mediocre hardware.
Peffe01 3 years ago
Yea, I've read on it, it's freaken heavy. I need the last computer stuff for that. 10k$ more bucks for it!

If you are using the demo, there are no CPP files (source files). Sounds like you might need to read through the documentation.

Peffe01 3 years ago
All of the benefits of purchasing the engine, which is extremely low cost for what you get, do not transfer over through a torrent.
Peffe01 3 years ago
and that is a comment on a game engine vid? lol u fail.
m4ster0fm0vies 3 years ago
So how much is that engine?
Is there a poly limit? Why does the character look so low poly/gay? I mean COULD a more detailed game be made with it?
I noticed it supports bump maps but not normal bump maps?
Any one know?
JosephD79 3 years ago
One character someone made for Torque Game Engine Advanced was about half million Polygons.
I don't know about normal bump maps. I only use the normal version of TGE.

what is easier: torque (3d stuff) or XNA

Torque, you don't need to code in torque, but you will probably want to.
