In my opinion i think he's quite humble about his solo music and is not in to comercially making hits, just good pure music (that is unfortunately not always found in the mainstrem!) and with out the chili peppers, many would not know him.

John Frusciante was the one that made the Red Hot Chili Peppers into a big thing. At first it didn't feel right that Josh filled his place in the band. The thing is, it was the right thing. I'm With You is a great album and Josh really shines in it. Of course it's different without John, but John wanted it this way. Stop moaning about Josh, he isn't John, he is himself, he is a great musician just like John. Give him a chance.

@hassan2424 man I still love the RHCP and understand that music, and the bands that play them, have to evolve over time. That doesn't change the fact that the new album has a rather large Frusciante shaped hole that is evident on most of the tracks. Does the album really compare to 'By The Way', 'Californication', or 'Stadium Arcadium'? There isn't a single song on it that, ten years from now, will still make you want to crank the stereo and jam with your friends the way those albums do.

The songs on im with you are nothing compared to songs like under the bridge, soul to squeeze, scar tissue, by the way, otherside, snow, and really just most of their work with frusciante in general. Being a true rhcp fan isn't liking everything new no matter how it sounds.
