  • can u use any kined of organic soil pleas wright back

  • where I can buy these plants? i live in los angeles

  • nice job

  • Your tank is very nice, but I don't understand why you use the newspaper... Isn't the plastic film enough? (And the toxins ... bla bla...)

I only use plasic film to protect the landscape and it always worked. Anyway... 'was just wondering. :-)

  • ok how u gonna clean the bottom? :P

  • @barrowscasper12 - You don't usually in a planted tank.

  • @OnatopaU rlly? omg i'm doing something wrong then >.> XD

  • @barrowscasper12 - How do you mean? Is there something you are curious about or anything you would like to ask? You may not be doing anything wrong. ~Richard

  • @barrowscasper12 sometimes betta fish are not proper for aquascaping because other fish can nip their fins..

  • is that gardening soil or aquarium gravel

  • @NTZY1997 - It's a common type of planted substrate. I think it's from ADA, but don't quote me on that.

  • I want that dirt!

  • I was under the impression that the ink on newspaper would be highly toxic in a fish tank? Can anyone comment on this please???

  • @mearsa Actually, the newspaper from Germany does not contain the toxins that the US has.

  • @XLR8urlife1505 - the US doesn't use toxins in newspaper ink! Where did you hear such a thing? That is absurd! Aquatic Plants are wrapped in wet newspaper all the time during shipment. As someone has already pointed out, we use a Soy based-ink for printing newspapers. Get your facts straight!

If you want to accuse us in the US of something, use the example of the really stupid stuff we do like to ban the import of aquatic plants (like from Tropica) which pisses me off to no end! ~I digress.

  • @XLR8urlife1505 turns the fish faschist tho

  • @XLR8urlife1505 from my knowing the news papers in The Netherlands can kill your fish.

  • @mearsa I think most are made with soy ink nowadays.

  • Any one know what all the plants and what rock he uses are called, because this looks nice as.

  • what will i have to do in step 2? can anyone tell me please. thank you.

  • Pretty easy...you would have to put a lacteal film on the back side

  • @RainbowShaker, What is that?

  • that's a adhesive film/ bonding sheet/ pressure sensitive film... call it what ever you want :D

I can recommend a black adhesive film.

    Makes the whole look better

  • @RainbowShaker, So its just for cosmetic use?

  • @175myles :

yes, actually it is. One really does not need it for setting up a tank.

all depends on what you want your tank to look like.

O.Knott avoids that one can see to the wall behind the tank.

I put on an adhesive film on both of my tanks last week and it really changes the overall picture.

The tank looks much deeper than without the adhesive film.

  • @RainbowShaker, I just sticky taped black cradboard on to my tank.

  • who knows the reason plants slime away... Pls help thx U :(

  • I`m puzzled, I was thinking to put substrate to my tank for my plants to grow better. How is that, there is no gravel that going on top? I have 3 bottom fish, will it be wise not to add any gravel on the top?

  • actually it is your option I prefer no gravel because there is no need of gravel since gravel is just put for cleaniness although for your bottom sifting fish you can make a divider like takashi amano does or use a layer for fine sand or do what you want

  • masterpiece!!!!!!

  • I like works of Oliver veri much!

    Thanks!

    Tamara

  • wow, haha, wtf just happened in steps 17 through 20? that magically lead to 21?

  • Looked like applying sheets of wet newspaper and plastic over the landscape to hold it down while water is poured in, to prevent the design being disturbed and the water being clouded. Then the plastic and newspaper is removed.

  • he just put a news paper to show the difference after adding water and a transparent plastic cover to save the substrate from water shifting just simple acuascaping tricks since a bowl would crush all the plants

  • @welcomegohome

    no??

  • @welcomegohome

So I think he put plastic on top of newspaper to stop the poured water from crushing the setup. Once he has the tank full, he pulled out the junk and netted any floaters from the planting.

It seems like a brilliant plan because I always have trouble keeping my gravel and fixtures from becoming dislodged. Another less finessed way I've done it is to fill the tank half full and pour directly onto a hard rock to disperse the force of the pour.

  • @GIDEON1554 put a plate on the gravel and drip the water on that

  • @vett3l0l Not if you dont have any even places to put the plate on, especially in such a small aquarium. The way he does it, most aquascapers do, since it leaves the water clear instantly, and you dont need to use a plate to try to balance/ruin your setup.

  • @Trastlol i personally always fill the aquarium with 1/4th of the water so that theres no air trapped underneath the soil
