  • Is there any way you can edit out that yellow hud in the bottom right, I CANT STAND THAT :D

  • I've seen these on ebay, glad to know they're worth spending the money one (though they're pretty cheap lol). Thanks for posting this

  • You could probably extend the microphone if you take it apart. It'll have two wires, just add length to them so the microphone dangles outside the case, long enough to fit inside your helmet. It would cut down some wind noise. Might be too much work with risk of breaking it though!

  • how do you put it on the tank ? i dont want it on helmet T_T

  • @kawasakirider216 mate i think i saw a two stroke on another video using a md80 and it sounded pretty good, i'll be using mine for my KX85

  • how long do i charge if for when i firtst get it

  • Great Video!

I have posted a couple of videos that will enhance the mini dvr for helmet cam use.

    GoPro Affordable Alternative. ..........Enjoy...Wheels Down

  • i have one of these ( just like same shape same size same specs) and with a 1gb car i can go up to 30 minutes or more.

  • what do u do about the wind noise because ur vids dont have much wind noise but u very rarely go fast because off where u live

  • would it work better if you put it inside your helmet to eliminate wind noise? is it small enough to fit infront of your mouth? im thinkin about gettin one too. what do u use to edit videos aswell?

  • @DaN12464 Yes, it would work a lot better audio wise, but my helmet wouldn't fit it inside very well.

  • thats a honda cbf125 ;)

  • @tonybigt It is indeed! Great bike it was!

  • does it show that time thing in the bottom when you put the video into the editing software? like do you have to edit that out?

  • @Disturbed58585858 On the cam I had that timestamp stayed in the video. Only way to get rid of it is to 1) blur it or (2) trim the bottom of the video which will result in either a black border at the bottom or a slightly stretched video.

  • lookin at one on ebay right now and reviews of them on YT...for $13, I might do it, video quality looks decent, although I might have to ghetto-rig something up...not a good place on my helmet to velcro since I have a 3/4...but maybe could put it somewhere else on the bike...

  • @p2proxtheworld from experience the best place for a motorcycle camera is on your head. Putting it on your bike will most likely give you a totally vibration distorted video.

  • @187Premises Yeah, I would prefer to put it on my helmet. Saw a video where they just taped it on the helmet. Might do that.

  • im going to get 1 of these cause they get the job done!!

dont pay no 300$ for a go pro just get 1 of these almost as good they could even be better

  • Sucky quality on that camera. I use my gopro instead

  • WHAT A FAB VIDEO,VERY HELPFUL WAS IT EASY TO SET UP ON YOUR PC AND HOW LONG DO YOU GET FROM WHATEVER SIZE CARD YOU USE? CHEERS

  • howd u get the velcro??????

  • @MrDaviator ebay is my best friend. :)

  • Im surprised it wasnt shower resistant. Did you have the silicon case around it?

  • @CORRIEJGREEN there is a gap around the camera lens that water can get into regardless of the silicone. Also there is a mic gap on the top. I reckon it is possible to fill them gaps with some sort of filler.

There are some newer MD80 versions. No idea if they are any different.

  • CBF 125 FTW!!

  • Great quality!! I want one!!!

    Good work!!

  • Do you know about actioncameras co uk? They have interesting gear there but I'm wondering if there are better places to buy quality equipment.

  • use a pov 1.5 there much better

  • I may just have to get an MD80 - I'm using the ATC3K atm too, and the quality is really low - good all weather camera maybe :)

  • Nice one brother, I am doing the same myself :)

  • i love ur videos because its like going for a ride through london on a cbf 125 :D

  • i´ve just bought it for 11 €. No matter how bad the camera is, it´s worth it.

  • Excellent video - so much so, that I just popped off to eBay to buy one of the cameras.

Have you tried mounting it to the bike with any success? I don't want to drill into it either, so I was wondering if you have any similar hints or tips?

Cheers, and maybe see you in town at some point.

  • @MrBradbox

Velcro tape from Halfords & a rubber band maybe? You might have to take vibration into account when attaching it to the actual bike. It will make the videos look jerky, so finding a good spot will be important.

Having it on your helmet is a great place because your body dampens most of the vibration. See you around :)

  • Note mate... it isn't really 30fps, it's 15fps with frames duplicated to make it seem 30fps. The more expensive clone does a real 20, and the real one does 25/30 (varies on lighting of course).

  • @drsquirrel0

    That's not true with my £10 MD80.

I cropped a video to exactly 1 second in vdub and inspected 29 different frames. Only 2 out of the 30 were identical.

  • @187Premises Yes!! the expensive clone really take 30 frames... the original just 25... the resolution in the clone is 720x480 and in the original 640x480...

but really the 720 is just a 640 maked wider... :-( not really more angle... just fake but very good quality!!

  • Iv just ordered one of these off ebay and I was wondering if there is any way of removing the date and time altogether??

  • i bought two of these camera's, i recorded about 15 seconds worth of video and now, both don't work... and you can blame me and say that i don't know how to use it, but i've been a computer tech for almost a decade now, and i'll tell you, this is the biggest piece of crap camera i've ever held in my hands. you're better off spending 200-300 on something that will actually work... you're video review was fine, but i doubt it still works

  • @mini6090

I did have a problem I've seen twice. When you turned the camera on it would just show a still light and not function. I opened the unit up and I found the camera lens unit had fell off the board. I just had to reseat it to fix it. I wonder if that's the problem you have had.

  • @mini6090 i also had a problem with both my md80 cams...would not work even after resetting, removing micro sd, etc. Then i found if i took the card out and erased everything the camera worked just fine!

  • @RUguruvy Yes, or simply do a format in another card reader in FAT mode to work... If you use ntfs it will record, and you can read it into another adaptor, but the usb bottom conection doesn't gonna work recognized as normal usb key...

  • mine finally died. think i might get me self a new one. you say there is a new version?

  • @belladellahotdog

Yea there is a new version. However I've noticed the mic is located on the front of the unit. I guess that can cause sound problems if you have the cam mounted on the outside with the wind battering against it. Just look up MD80 on eBay. Your bound to see it.

  • wow..not bad!

  • I have heard if you get an electronic wet you simply place it in a bag of Rice and it pulls all the moisture out making it work again... worth a try anyway.

  • Do you use an additional recorder or can you connect a remote mic to the inside of your helmet?

  • @cashstore1

Nope, never used a separate recorder before.

  • where did you order your legit one? I want to record my ride so f-ing badly

  • nice little cams very nice good price good quality vid

  • at 3:19 is that also an ATC oregon scientific cam you have on the bike too?

  • @moonshinepz

Yep, I only really use it for rainy days because it's waterproof.

I see on eBay they have a new design of MD80. The new one has a on/off switch , battery pack & can take 16GB cards.

  • @187Premises Good Headsup on that one! The new MD80 copy looks a lot better, particularly the extra battery pack. Also the on/off switch. Thats the one to buy I reckon.

  • @moonshinepz

You did read my comment about the mic being on the front?

If you do mount the new one externally then expect lots of wind noise.

  • How much for the MD80.And how much is gas over there?I tryed to see when you pulled into the filling station.

  • @timw1959

It costed me £12.23 for 9.56 Litres.

    That's for Shell V-Power. It's premium unleaded.

  • How much???

  • @timw1959

    US $17

    UK £11

  • You are right, 187, they are way better picture quality than the ATC cameras! got a couple of those MD80 clones, very good. You just can't go wrong for the money. Only problem I have is that I can't see when the LEDs are on or off in daylight very easily though. :-/

  • @moonshinepz

Same boat. I have to crouch forward towards my bike mirror and put my hand over the top to block sunlight.

  • I m actually thinkin of getting one like urs...looks enough good the video quality, plus very cheap and small...Gotta check if they sell it in Japan.

    what's the manufacturer?

  • @namphu

Hey Rob. It's one of them unbranded Chinese gadgets from eBay. It looks like a "Veho MuVi" but someone commented on my other video saying that the MuVi video quality was crap compared to this. Muvi shoots at 640x480. MD80 does 720x480.

  • @187Premises

Thanks man, found it also here in Japan (the fake one like urs, shooting at 30 fps 720). It's available in 4 colors...but i ll go for black i suppose! Too bad for the price...BLOODY EXPENSIVE compared to the UK one!!! It's around 6000yen , which i suppose is something like 30pounds or something like that...

Why? China is closer to here!! :D

I ll let u know if i get one, thanks 4 da info! ;)
