Did it (he? she?) make a "coo coo coo" noise? Alfrie (my sister's pigeon, may she R.I.P) did. I just love how they give you kisses when they're happy <3 I want another pigeon SOOO badly after seeing this (i did before, but more now)
@beastchicky Yeah she makes those "coo coo" sounds! And you know what, I just found another pigeon last Friday ~ he's very young and also has an injured leg. You keep your eyes open too ~ there might be a pigeon waiting for you around the corner! ;)
Please, check out Angel ! type Angel his exercise or Angel Bird Bath on youtube and see how he react. You may click rmhernandez777, alot of videos of Angel and we went to New York for vacation and had a Falcon Attack experienced this Nov. 14, 2010. Enjoy watching Angel on youtube - Thank you.
A lot of homers will sort of freeze for me once I've cornered them. I thought that's what this video was at first, but that bird is actually enjoying being pet! Right on.
@noobhealz402 Everyone's entitled to have their opinion, but based on your comment you're obviously missing the facts, buddy! But that's cool, we can't know it all about everything.
@jojobee42 Haha, i don't know facts? Please use google and actually figure YOUR facts out. They've been proven to carry diseases that can cause harm to families.
@imatcarletonuni No she doesn't have a mate, and she's 3 years old now. When I live in a bigger place one day I'll have more rescue pigeons. They're awesome!
@guitargodattheheart Well, I wouldn't recommend it, because as it's a wild bird it's not used to being kept as a pet! It would be very traumatic for the bird. But, if you ever find a baby pigeon that has fallen out of the nest, then you can definitely keep it ~ if you're simply ready to commit, that is!
@JesskahhWaraich Aww, I think thats sweet cos my neighbor did that. He's keeping it as a pet and I always thought pigeons were somewhat icky. But yesterday I petted him. Sorry I'm not any help but get him a nice cage, take him outside in it a little and make sure to get some good seed. Thats what my neighbor did and this bird is not leaving. He even takes it outside without its cage and it walks around the yard and flies back into its cage. : ) Good luck.
@JonaBeanz Haha, thaanks for the advice, and nice story, haha ! but a few days after we caught it, we decided to let it be free, it didnt feel right, but it was great while it lasted, haha :P
@JesskahhWaraich No, they don't bite ~ you need teeth to bite! :) Just make sure you wanna make that commitment, because pigeons bond with their family and can live way over 20 years! They're amazingly sweet creatures though, but just be sure if you wanna make that commitment.
Sorry, didn't notice your post until now... 6 months has passed, so what happened with your pigeon?? I'm curious!
WOW! Another Person That Loves Pigeons, Not Many People Seem To Like These ADORABLE BIRDYS! But I LOVE THEM! So Does My Mum Too And My Dad Used To Keep Them, You Are Very Lucky To Have Them As Pets, One Day I Will Have Some Too :-)
I agree! i love the little guys, a pigeon layed eggs on my balcony back in the summer and i helped look after the babies! they still drop onto the railing outside th window to say hi every now and then :D
sovaever, hes used to his home, hes used to u. even tho u let him go, he will always come bak cuz thats were he was raised. I mean dont b bothered by it, he means no harm.
thats because it associates you with food and safety. Pigeons have very good homing instinct. Racing homers regularly fly over 600 miles back to their loft.
I suggest you release the bird when its fully healthy, where there are pigeons around of course. Sure your attached to this bird having to have taken care of it when it was young. But, when theres an accident, or natural causes, youll feel terrible inside :(. I realize that, so when i found a pigeon or any bird, i keep it for a while, take care of it, and send it on its way. It feels better that way, than having to see them pass away while your around. T_T ☮☮☮
Yeah, I totally agree with you! That was my plan, to release her once she gets better ~ but it turned out she had had a broken leg which couldn't be fixed anymore (she probably broke it when she fell off the nest). So, there was no way to release her, because she would have most likely not made it in the wild ~ her leg is just injured, she walks in a very unique way. If she was to walk on asphalt, that would break the skin of the bad leg, which would lead to bad infections.. :(
@Baldoxxx4000 Yes, I see your point and I'd normally do the same ~ with my pigeon the situation was a bit different, because she had an injured leg and wouldn't have survived in the "wild". She's very happy and healthy living with us now, but her leg could never take walking on hard asphalt every day... Also, pigeons have an extremely hard life in the "wild", 80% of them not even seeing their 4th birthday! (and you know how long lifespan they should have) It's sad!
Aw, thank you!! She's now about 1,8 yrs old, and I found her when she was just a few weeks old! Her leg is not perfect; the bone had grown into a wrong positions, so she walks in a very "unique" way. But, she's very healthy and happy, and I just hope her leg won't start to give more problems when she gets older. For now it's fine, and she's learned to live with it. Thank you for the upbeat comment!
I think her leg will cause her problems in the future. Especially if she doesn't get enough exercise and gets heavy. She naturally has tiny pins for a bird that size after all. So long as you watch her, exercise her and get her checked regularly by a vet, all should be good, and you can expect years of Cooing and cuddling, and bitchy girl-bird behaviour (remember, the girl bird is ALWAYS right!) THAT is the secret to happiness my friend.
thanks!!!:D:D:DI really love him!!yeah I kinda save his life..when i found phoenix was a few weeks old..he had no feathers(almost)a few of them..and was so small..he so cool!!i love him!!yes!!I am trying to find a girfriend to him!!I would soon upload videos of mine too!!:D:Dbut after my exams!!
Oh, that's so sweet ~ and wow, he had almost no feathers when you found him? He was young! Mine was about 3 weeks old when I found her, and by then she already had feathers. So your bird must have been about one week old, a bit more? That's young! I'm so happy he made it, and that you became friends! :) Good luck with finding him a girlfriend! And remember to post some videos after your exams! :)
Yeah, you're right ~ hopefully everything will go fine though! I am slightly afraid the leg might start creating problems one day, but I'm still hoping for the best! For now she's happy & healthy & content ~ and always right, like you said! She does walk everyday, she collects things for her nest, so she's walking around on the floor. I don't know if I should give her some leg exercises on top of that.
@verticalsmurf Do you have a pigeon too? Always a pleasure to meet fellow pigeon owners! Yes, it's been 3 years of cooing and cuddling now, and Vivi the pigeon is very happy and healthy! Who knows what future holds for her, but we'll take it as it comes and give her our very best.
that;s a male one huh??I have a pigeon too!!his name is Phoenix!!:))I really love him!!!I found him in really bad condition but he's perfect now!and we are trying to find him a partner!!but first attemt-didn't go so good!!hehe!!i love your pigeon!!:D:D

Hi! She was just about 2 weeks old when I found her, a scared little baby, but she came along quickly and started trusting us. Some people tame older wild birds, so I guess it's possible ~ I don't have any experience with that myself, babies are easy 'cause they're just babies.. Do you have any birds?
no...but i wish i had one. i'm crazy about birds, especially pigeons cos they look fat and cuddly. the craze started when i observed a sparrow outside my house and realised how adorable it is.
No, she turned her head away to groom my hand! That's a sign of affection, and they normally do it to their partners. It's kinda like kissing, I guess.
When she doesn't want me to touch her she makes it clear; she can peck pretty hard when she wants to! It's funny, but also hurts! ;D
YEAH!! LOL, a pigeon ball ~ she also looks like a ball when I go close to her sleeping box; she's trying to look so scary, but it only looks like a black snowball! haha ;D
Wow, I didn't even know they have 'Vivi' in Final Fantasy! (I guess that also answers your question!) I had no idea 'Vivi' was even a real name, I just made it up...haha :)
