  • Practise does NOT make perfect Nothing is perfect...only the Tao...

    Practise makes Master.

    Smile and keep on practising.

I'm a Kung Fu guy, but love the Silat...trained with Guru's Richard De Boards and Glenn Lobo in the mid 80's and then Jak Othman in the early Millenium it's great all styles love them. Because my style of Kung Fu is 'soft' I can see many similarities with some Silat.

RESPECT to all. Enjoy your training for once you step onto the road there is no end to the journey

  • music and video is not match dude....

video is from sumatra...but music is from java..

    WHAT THE HELL IS THAT???!!!

u know that sumatra and java has a big different culture..??????

  • This Indonesian Silat Harimau technique simply effective and dangerous ( dangerous then jiu jitsu ) if you do fast movement .. for street self defence.. to developed your confidence it needs lots of practice. With the silat technique and with your training partner . Practice make perfect

  • This silat music is called music tradition degung if you travel to Indonesia com to Bali or west Jawa/Bandung city.. Balines music degung or sundanes they're similar.. sound naturally lots of flute instrument very relaxing peace and quite is beautiful..!!

  • well nice music but slow move

  • @absolut0204 if he do it fast he's done for

  • WHERE CAN I GET THIS SONG?

  • @jamiirali1 the song is called: "Sabilulungan"

  • @Dragonathan thank you bro. i appreciate it.

  • wow.thanks for the inspiration

  • BEAUTIFUL ARIMAU

  • This is pure pleasure to watch this Harimau techniques, Thanks

  • nice moves!!

  • good ..peace from silat lover/

  • Great video Great music how can iget this music

  • my another point here is, "to all peoples who dont know silat, try to learn n discover them. they are great. some of the video on you tube that im can recommend to you about silat is from late herman suwanda, bambang suwanda, pak haji syofian, bobbe edmond, crest mma silat, silat lock flow n many more. whatever, sorry my bad english. peace.

  • today, silat increasingly to exposed around the world. its cant be prohibited to other discipline to copy or absorb some techniques from silat. moreover the silat student itself come from various background of disciplines n silat seminar always invited the other different disciplines to joint them to shared their knowledge. they are have right to copy n absorb it but the originality, history cant be change n lie.

  • as i told earlier all of the martial art may be essentially the same between each other as we are the same as human beings which have hand, leg, head etc. however spesifically all of those martial art are different base on philosopy, sociology, custom, culture, environment, geography and more malay stock race peoples have various n complex ethnic n sub ethnic.

  • if u are explore silat through video or u come by yourself to learning silat directly u can find silat techniques too unique, weird, quite funny, look like unpractical, rare or never to found in other discipline etc.

  • actually my point here not to compared among silat n the other discipline n then say silat are more good but what im want to emphasize here is silat have a lot of secret especially their techniques which are not expose to the world yet. maybe silat is too secret not like the other disciplines that are too expose. even silat are too secret but it doesnt mean its totally secret but also have little bit open. if not why the peoples in the above video are not malay.

  • from what im know, jiujitsu n wrestling just teach technique to deal with brawling takedown just to move to back or retreat your body n then lower you body stand. sory if im make mistake.

  • try discover other videos of silat in you tube.

  • for example you can look how to escape from armbar n brawling takedown(if im not mistake), in jijiutsu even bjj not teach how to escape it because they are not have the technique. but in silat this technique is also have n teach. for example how to against brawling takedown is using putar kepala technique. how to escape armbar is by just twist your body. n many more technique because on e of the important principle of silat is no have dead end technique must be have ways to escape.

  • yeah... im not says all of those techniques but most of the techniques. honestly to say. it absolutely true that most of those technique u cant found at another disciplines. because maybe they are essentially the same but their overall is absolutely different as different race have different culture, environment, custom, laguange, sociologi etc. .

  • congartulation,u are very well doing minangkabau's silat.i as a malay from The Royal of Pagar Ruyung Family was proud with this video and the trainner

  • Interesting ... you should see cekak harimau, gayong harimau and harimau ghaib

  • i need to learn Silat

  • because just only this video not represent or elaborate all of silat especially harimau. however all of these techniques are so great isnt it? many or all of their techniques are not found in other disciplines especially their locks and takedown. even in jiujutsu and wrestling you cant found that. i m worried if other discipline will copy and adsorb its and claim as their own. sorry bad english. peace.

  • i saw many things that are found in a great many arts. a unique flavore for sure. but there are only so many ways to take someone down, strike them, or twist their limbs.

  • hello. I think you are wrong. jujitsu and wrestling use some of these same techniques. they are performed from a different bases, but they are essentially the same

  • why there is no groin attack? as there is stance is wide open

  • because it is a demonstration... not to say that this particular fighter *wouldn't* leave his groin unprotected

  • In short, you are saying that it is secret?

  • No, that the demo might be sloppy because propper form is not being shown and they are concentrating on that you see there. If it were me, I would do a comparative research; if you are satisfied with what you see here as being the only answer, great. If not, look around, see if other silat styles have this perceived vulnerability

  • anke io sn di trieste!!! qual è la vostra scuola!!!

  • Harimau, is this the style that was developed on an island with a lot of mud, hence the low stances, ground techniques and funny walking style of the guy in the vid? I've heard about that..

  • I WANT A ROOM LIKE THAT :P

  • ayuh pelajari teknik bunuh iblis, syaitan, jin bunian dan sekutu2nya.

  • those who know how to use silat, they can be called Pendekar. In Malay Pendekar means Pandai Akal and In English is well Smart or Know how to think. Pendekar is the highest rank of all martial art and possible defeating other martial art without a sweat. looking at the video if he do it for real that black shirt guy wont even survive. The real silat breaks your bone till pieces or lifetime paralyze. I was a silat student but not title as Pendekar. My stance is Silat Seni and Empat Kumpulan.

  • where are u from friend? i practice perisai diri

  • im from brunei. Assalamualaikum!!

  • Wa'alaikumsalaam..nice to know you!!

  • I also practice Perisai Diri im in Australia training under Mas Russell Dennis

  • cavolo ma sei tu , complimenti e saluti Danilo Rossi

  • There will be movie using "Silat Harimau". Googling "Merantau". The director is a british, Gareth Evans, which become interested after making documentary about this martial art.

  • great

  • very nice

  • saluteee...

  • allahuakbar

  • buono.

  • ufc mma Josh Barnet's teacher Erik Paulson knows silat from Dan Inosanto and the fighter thats gonna beat Fedor Brandon Vera 2 main teachers know silat his muay thai coach Rob Kamman knows silat from the netherlands and vera's grappling coach master Lloyd Irvin knows silat and (knives and sticks) possibly from the same source here in the states DAN INOSANTO

  • in silat,there are "buah",standard syllabus technique,but in battle...well...,use your brain...hehehe

  • ur video musik...its not music for fighting ist sundanesee married ceremonial music "lembur kuring"(my homeland)

  • I teach Muay Thai. My students always want to do more grappling. This gives me a lot of ideas. Remember, techniques belong to everyone and no one. Thanks for posting!

  • Try to mix Pencak Silat, Jujitsu, and Judo. Indonesian Pencak Silat which based on grappling system - Harimau and Lintau. Malaysian Silat which based on grappling system - Gayong.

  • I think that this is the only way to use ground fighting well: Attack the throat, get head control, take them to the ground, and pound.

  • mimicking the tiger's movement. attacking the neck area in order to immobilize the enemy. 1st degree murder count if proven guilty.

  • self-defense.

  • Harimau = Tiger

  • Silat in italy?? quite unbelievable

  • were from philippines and we love your moves guys,,,,from Combat Eskrima Maranga.

  • The name of this music style is called Gamelan

  • In particular, it is Gamelan Degung, quite different from most other styles, and if you like this you might like Kecapi Suling or other Sunda styles. It's my favorite musics in the world! And Silat Harimau is my favorite style for fight too!

  • Otai!!!

  • What is the name of the music on this video ? I love it .Plz get back to me

  • Wow thats beautiful. Been looking at alot of Harimua videos and the methods of the hook/catch wrestling I was taught and this are amazing in their appilcations together. Anyone in the states know this system?

  • very slow to counter attack because use 2 movement, better use one movement. many the best technique in many type of Silat in Peninsular Malaysia, better search more effective technique use just one movement

  • of course its 'slow' and seemed hard to execute. But when you manage to execute it in some situation it is very useful. I was Provost and i used silat techniques more when subduing my arrestee. We cant just follow the book all the time. Policemen cant just punch and knock out people anyhow. Dats why need to learn to subdue.

  • Good video guys, see you again soon :)

    Alan. Yorkshire Silat Academy

  • Indonesia is where the real silat is!

  • apa hampa buat tu?

  • something wrong when everybody say good about this silat. afterall others are also good but they received good and bad comments. I don't say this silat is no good. I would like to say, it is as good as others.

  • i jus love the beauty of silat. keep it up!

  • bagus persilat
