Saw them at Second British Rock Meeting, Germershiem that same year (May),,,My twin Bro and 30 of us from 39th finance section went to 3 days of Great music.....
was 20. low draft # put me in the army in sept 71. Instead of Nam I went to germany. So many concerts. We use to go to the Zoom Club in frankfurt. Have to say I loved the Festhalle. Saw Santana, Ten Years After, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Joe Cocker, Jeff Beck, Three Dog Night, Procol Harum,
plus many others all over between Frankfurt & Nurnburg. The 2nd British Rock Festival down in Germersheim in May 1972 was incredible too. Pink Floyd was there as the headliner.
I do remember that night. We had driven a VW Bug from Wurzburg. Incredible performance. Sat up in the back too. Smoked some hash before going in. After the concert we were stuck on the autobahn forever in that snow storm. Finally got off the autobahn and pulled into a restaurant. The power was off. They had plenty of candles and some coffee/danish left. Incredible night. I still have the ticket. I saw PF in earlier that year in May at a rock festival in Germeshiem.
@pickinbadger - aww, too bad we didn't know each other then. You could have gone home with us and waited the snow out. By the way, one of my friends lives in Wuerzburg now - we live in Seattle.
@pickinbadger oh my god, I forgot about the hash that was so easily to be had then :) I used to make brownies with them because my husband didn't smoke. How old were you then? I sometimes think that we were so innocent in those days even though we thought we were so outrageous, lol. Our generation is so lucky.

@pickinbadger - Do you remember where you were? We were sitting in the back, quite a ways up, but the sound was great. And do you remember, when the concert was over, it snowed outside? We had to take the train to Mainz-Kastel, where I lived. But first we had to get from the concert hall to the train station and all the buses were late. But we didn't care, we were young, in love and high from the music. My then boyfriend was stationed in Frankfurt and worked in the IG Farben Building.
@link1952 I was at that festival too. I have photos from it if you're interested I'd send you some. Do you remember what happened when Uriah Heep came up and played?
@pickinbadger - pictures would be great - I'll have to ask my husband if he took some, I can't remember. And I can't remember Uriah Heep (love them) being there. My husband is on a trip right now - next time I talk to him I'll ask.
@abby9300 Abby if you have an email address I'll send them to you. Uriah Heep. There were two stages so bands could keep going. It was late... past midnight and two bands wanted to play instead of waiting. Atomic Rooster & Uriah Heep. The guy running the show let the crowd decide which one went first. Uriah Heep went on but the german crowd wanted Atomic Rooster. Uriah Heep drummer gets hit. He went to the front of the stage and it was bloody kraut this and bloody kraut that. Off they go.

You guys who were there are beyond lucky. I am seeing Roger's Waters The Wall tour next year, but nothing could match seeing them live in the 70s
