the MINI Cooper is an AutoX god. Nissan, Acura, Honda... get off the course. 2005/06 Cooper S's had 168 bhp and around 150 whp. plenty enough stock power to own those cars in an AutoX event. put $1500 in parts into a Mini Cooper S and you will have a car to compete in a straight line against a Mustang GT. and then when the corners come, you take that GT OUT!

Think about the cost of the CTS-V and the BMW and that should compensate for the time. We are talking about a used R53 MINI that is a fraction of the price of the cars you listed being able to compete on the track. The MINI isn't a race car, but it sure as hell can be competitive on autoX or track.

Wait, did you just say FWD and twisties in the same sentence? I'm sorry to cue you into something here called under steer, maybe you've heard of it before? And don't try and tell me that you can eliminate the under steer with sway bars and other suspension bits, you can only do so much with that before you put too much power through the front wheels, which are smaller than the rear due to wheel well size constraints for the whole "turning" thing, and you wind up losing grip and under steering.

@IMEECHI a mini is just a tiny Morris Minor with its engine mounted sideways and front wheel drive to save as much room in the car as possible. they developed it at the time (60's) because fule prices started to rise and this was a perfect solution.... calling it the best handling from wheel drive car though? quite questionable since they all handle the same (not very lol)

@NonLethalDeath It's a sports car. When making the decision of making it FWD, I'm pretty sure they would have worked around that. Watch Top Gear's review of the car. They had a lot of good things to say about it.

it's a feature you have to order. Theres a little button on the light lever, you click it and can toggle speed, MPG, Avg MPG/Speed.

that comes with the computer pack when you order the car, it does fuel milage and average speed too. theres a button on the blinker arm if you have it and dont know its there

HP depends on the year the MINI was made. Mine has a lot of upgrades and cranks out 212 (at last dyno) at 8 PSI. Stock HP is about 178-190. The supercharger in a MINI S is stock but I put in an oversized intercooler, which is easily done due to the upgrades available from BMW.

its according to the engine you are using. Normally you change up to the spot where power starts to fade so in next gear you can be to the peak of your torque

Each car has a powerband, which is how much hp you are getting for each rpm level. Well in most(if not all) vehicles, you start losing power if you hit the redline, normally your peak power is about 500-1000rpm's lower than your redline.

For a mini, I do not know because it is different for each car/mods

This was worked out on NAM and there is no gear which it is more efficient to short shift rather than to redline this because the supercharger in a MCS only reaches peak boost at the redline

@Tempestshade My MINI Cooper S is modified too. I have a tune that unlocked the rev limiter to 7200rpm (stock is 6800). But, it was said to me to shift 200-300rpm below 7200, so around 6850 to 7000. Also, on the dyno, the chart end at 6750rpm.

So, 6800-7000rpm should be good.

redline doesnt hurt the car, its designed for that, they dont want you to go past the redline, which is why there is a limiter, so that u arnt going to push it farther than it could go

theres a company that makes a conforti shark injector chip and it connects to the obd. it gains some horsepower and 200rpm extra redline they claim that with that chip and the pulley the car is just as quick if not quicker than a e36 m3 u should check it out message me and i will give you the link it costs like 360 dollars for it
