  • Adoro a letra dessa música, música maravilhosa!! Obrigada por postar ^^

Eu queria tanto mais bandas como The Seekers atualmente. ):

"Sonhando em alguém que você podia ser; A vida é uma realidade, nem sempre você pode fugir; Não tenha tanto medo de mudar e reorganizando-se; É hora de saltar para baixo da prateleira um pouco" Perfeito!! *-*

  • Great tune!!

  • My dentist's first name is Georgette, and she was a little child when this was a hit, and DUH, she heard it from the other girls in the playground all the time, so she tells me!

(PS The young woman's name in the movie was "Georgina"-- imagine if the writer had decided to call the story "Gina Girl" *(shudder!)*)

  • Such a violent song.

  • Somebody's gotta play the Seekers when the time is right....

  • This song reminds me of myself, partly because I'm Georgie's (Harrison) girl! Haha, I wish...

  • my baby sister was born , when this song first started getting airplay, in '67. i can remember my older sister and brother's singing this to the baby, and, her smiling and coo-ing at them...wonderful times, back then.

  • I'm 14 years old and I can easily say this is one of my favourite songs, me and my grandmother and grandfather drive up to Bundaberg, Queensland from Sydney, NSW (Australia) every Christmas and we all sing at the top of of our lungs when this one comes on, not to say the others aren't absolutely fantastic as well... thanks for the upload :)

  • You're welcome, kissmedarrencriss-san!!

  • Takes me back to the 3rd grade. I love it!!

  • never realized how good this group is...are they in the hall of fame?thanks YouTub..i thought this was a Mamas and the Papas song..

  • @lumbiaknight87 Still the Seekers should be in some kind of Hall of Fame

  • I was about 7 or 8yo and in hospital to having a hernia op. Don't remember much about the op but I remember singing (performing) all The Seekers songs for the "old" patients and the nurses. I was a hit. Thank you for bringing back good memories.

  • amazing sound-----what became of the group---?????

  • @studeystudebaker50 they all got old and died.

  • @studeystudebaker50 Broke up in 1968, got back together in 1993. Still doing the occasional show - their latest was a string of concerts this May with violinist Andre Rieu in Oz and New Zealand. Search Seekers videos here on YouTube - there are at least two from one of the NZ concerts.

The Greatest Voices Of The 20th Century

  • Love the upbeat feeling of this, and the excellent harmony.

  • the sixties were full of happyness, today all music is about party, alochol and girls. this is so original, I love it.

  • Hits home big time. High school years, first love, and all the rest. Thanks so much for the post. Gerry in Asheville, NC.

  • IT SHOULD'VE WON THE DAMN OSCAR FOR BEST SONG!!!

  • Love this track, thanks for the post >>>> "you're always window shopping but never stopping to buy" ...could this be the earliest popular music metaphor refering to the substitution of retail therapy for a dissapointing love life?

  • Classic. .absolute classic!

  • The lead singer for The Seekers was Judith Durham. She has an incredible voice, clear and powerful and emotive. She still sings today in Australia.

  • This song brings me back to my childhood days. I LOVE IT!!

  • far out man still a great song for 2011

    long live the 60,s

    Otaku3 (^o^)/

  • @60otaku3 So kind of you to do all this! Blessings!

  • I really think no one's ever recorded a better first 10 seconds. Rest of it works too, no? Can't say I much like the movie though.

  • So this was a 1967 song. I heard this in the early 70's and thought it was a new song. I glad to hear this song again. I remember my childhood.

  • First song I ever remember listening to!................ALL-TIME favorite.

  • RIP Lynn Redgrave.

  • Actually this is very delicate advice.

  • to all the generation xers and those who lived through the 60's These kinds of music was always a pleasure to listen to and also the decade was a very interesting yet trying one. I live in a time warp and don't pay much attention to today's society. I use the computer but most of the time enjoy listening to records and tapes, watch old movies and dress retro (contemporary society's definition) of fashion. I love miniskirts and bellbottoms, leisure suits, etc.

  • @rbsvy91368 Those were the dinosaur years of music stars!

  • @rbsvy91368 today's technology is actually ruining the world. It may help in certain ways but look at how it has made spying and prying on people's lives more. Cell phone conversations aren't PRIVATE. They are recorded. You can even get recordings from the cell phone company. I like my records and 8 tracks and reel to reel players.

  • This is one of those songs that you remember exactly where and what you were doing the moment that you heard it.

    Remember?

  • @sixtiesforever1966

I was 14, sat in my bedroom, and it came on the radio. It was the year 1999. I loved it and still do.

  • I was only 4 years old back in 1967 but I remember hearing it on the radio in Southern California, love the memories

  • @2cookluv Both my parents have passed away and I love my childhood memories. I was 3 in '67 but I remember this song vividly. It reminds me of summertime perhaps because my father gave me a Motorola mini transistor radio for my 5th B-day and an aluminum lawn chair woven with turquoise and white braid. That was the best birthday ever. I really thought I was the cats meow!

    Peace be with you.

  • @schmarcie Thanks for sharing your memories. It is such a happy song :)

  • this almost sounds like something Lennon-and-McCartney would have written in the early years

  • Dammit I can't stop playing this song.

  • this was the age of the seal of the skin of each part of us of the peace that the girls carried after the cold war was brought to order and we built on - the evangelistic peace we eulogised from the safe frequencies

    cheers

    - jitters p.s. there was no one girl

  • Great Song- Great movie!!

  • good song

  • What instrument is used to make the wistleing sound in the begginng of the song? It is repeated in the middle and the end. I googled it and nothing does any one have a def. answer?

  • @corky1864 it was no instrument but the human sound from between the lips of a professional whistler. True!

  • She is beautiful,

  • mmm what a voice

  • Ahh, October, 1966, at the beginning of a wonderful dating relationship that junior year in high school...this song reminds me of it all...

  • Love this song! It seemed almost eerie when it was played in such a bittersweet movie.

  • This song describes me so well, if I didn't know better I'd swear it was written for me.

  • Very strong feeling for 1966 when I hear this. It was incredibly popular at the time - and always on the radio. Rather strange film tho', I always thought - very different in tone to the innocent air of this song.

  • Very good 60otaku3, I was 12 years old and this music a sucess here in Brazil. Great memories listening this music. Regards

  • Thank you for enjoying, edson21357-san!!

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • You're welcome, George-san!!

  • This song is a treasure!

  • feel like I just walked into a Gidget movie!

  • I remember songs being much shorter back in the day but never realised this classic was ONLY 2:16 in length. Most acts today take that long just to get a good shine going while pole dancing or some other equally tasteless act. Lord knows the '60's weren't perfect but at least we had hope. Now, even that's gone.

  • ??? this isn't mono. Why say that? I can hear the whislting part on my right side and not on the left.

  • In their recent CDs, most of this song are stereo versions.

    Otaku3 (^_^;)

  • What does georgy mean?

  • It's her name.

  • @damnyoustamos Ah ok! Thank you! :)

  • @Hilu8D You may know this, there was a movie made in 1966 and the girl Lynn Redgrave played the girl named Georgy. Watch the movie if you can and you will see a real classic.

  • @1969pontiac1 Lynn Redgrave just passed away this year.

Another great piece of 60's history gone. Like to see them live forever.

One can Dream cant one! Sir David

  • this is 2 minutes 15 seconds of pure pop magic.

  • This is good music. How did we end up with the crap we got today?

  • @me45404 That's a good question! Since there's over 81,000 views, maybe we can all figure out how to get great music like Georgy Girl back on the airwaves. I'm ready for more great music of yesteryear!

  • @me45404 The dumbing down of america thats how. What are the issues today? Muslims blowing us up. The gov spending like there's no tommorow and rap crap all over the place. We don't have the cojones to tell the muslims that they need to conform to the same rules as everyone else and before them. We are so afraid of lawyers that we pass kids who have no business of making it to the next grade and we settle for sample music instead of original stuff to fill our ipods!

  • As we allow Negro in entertainment industry, thus we are hearing so many noises such as rap.

  • @bestekcj Don't you have a KKK meeting to go to?

  • @me45404 As we allow Negro in entertainment industry, thus we are hearing so many noises such as rap.

  • wonderfull...y love that singer

  • I really like some of these posts people need to learn to read and write.

  • @sixtiesforever1966 Don't waste time with negative comments

  • I grew up in the sixies and sometimes wish I could go back, the Seekers songs bring back such good memories for me.

  • I love this song. I listened to it as a kid. I wish music was like this today!

  • Carnaby street, The kings Road in the 60's just another world. Defining moments of my youth. Gone for ever except the music brings it all back. Judith has a great voice.
