  • 800lb for warm up? wow, what a beast.

  • Imagine his offspring...

  • what a powerhouse this guy is....big props Mr. Poundstone.

  • LIKE A BOSS.

  • Really started leaning too far forward at the beginning of the pull at the end there. Great lifting regardless of course. My goal is to lift half that.

  • What a beast

  • why is he wearing socks!?

  • @Katannarama It gives you a nice flat base when doing the lift.

  • Does anybody know if Derek uses the Double Overlap to completely avoid any bicep tears??

  • @justinp766 When he straps up i think so. mixed grip with straps and a possibly bent arm is potentially lethal.

In axel presses i've seen he uses mixed grip. I guess not getting injured is his main concern here.

  • @americanbadass9: Poundstone is amazing, for sure. But why does someone have to beat him in a face-to-face challenge to be stronger. Big Z, for example, has 6 Arnolds and 1 WSM to the Viper's 2 Arnolds and 0 WSMs. Why not say Big Z is stronger, unless the Viper beats him face to face? And why not just accept competition perfformance as the way of establishing the strongest?

  • @thefirstwhiteknight when you're lifting heavy weight, you wear a belt to support your back

  • @codman69able wrong

  • I see some folks using a belt and some not. What does that even do?

  • was he wearing a deadlift suit?

  • @DoNotClickUFreak

    yep, inzer.

  • his back must be killin him even though he is using a belt

  • holy shit i think my deadlift justed when up from watching this lol

  • Derek Poundstone's strenght is insane.

  • .... I love how he turns PURPLE at the end of a lift. Goes to show how determined of a lifter he is. He truly is an inspiration.

  • can some one pls explain to me why the sumo deadlift is banned in strongman but the use of straps and hitching is allowed? That wasnt a dig at derek if anyone thinks that im just curious why u cant lift sumo in strongman

  • is this dude like one of the strongest men in the world?

  • @bingbang3214 yes..he joined strongest man in the world competitions and he came very close to winning

  • @bingbang3214 hes not One of the strongest men in the world, he is the strongest man in the world, unless someone can beat him in a challenge face to face and in a video, then no one stronger than him exists

  • Monster!!!!

  • THAT FUCKING SEVERAL INCH THICK HARDENED METAL BARBELL WAS BENDING.

  • @Yelkwood9 no... not several inchs but perhaps 1-2 :P

  • Awesome

  • I'd love to see this without straps

  • @evanescence2 hard to grip 800 raw.

  • @evanescence2 your mother with straps?

  • 100lb plates!! good lord :D

  • A guy like him inspires me

  • To all the comments about Derek resting the weight on his knees: it mimics the Atlas stone event. And he is resting the weight on is thighs.

  • @theblemishedone I have never seen what he did done before, videos or elsewhere, but I honestly have to say that if you're gonna grind out a deadlift this is by far the most superior way to do so. He doesn't risk any rounding to his back - he sits the weight on his knees/thighs, sits back, and then re-deadlifts. Very cool, really.

  • @floppyspatula it's called hitching lol

  • @theblemishedone True, but the video says "deadlift", not atlas stones, thus resting the weight on his thighs is not a valid lift. Even though he might have been training for the atlas stones he never completed 9 deadlifts...

  • LOL at the skinny black dude sitting behind him... he must be thinking ¨ F that, Im done¨

  • @M1stykal1 Smith machine bench = Quit no matter what you're looking at.

  • ronnie

  • Dear god

  • ronnie coleman can only do this x2 lol

  • @skating4u You can only deadlift 200lbs.. LOL

  • @metalCamelChannel His most recent confirmed* max from Derek himself is 948lbs. Probably done with the suit, belt and straps...

Bolton is great but Derek is not competing against him for the DL record or PL. Derek's goal is to be the best American strongman ever and that's it. Im sure if he wanted to be the best PL'er he would be right up there with KK, Bolton etc...

  • @mtsfitness Exactly.

  • "WOW, I deadlift 600 for 1 rep and I thought I was a "beast" LOL"

This is a direct quote from you on this same page from 2 weeks ago. So were you lying when you wrote it or did someone else use your account? Its 4 posts above the one where you said you never deadlifted 600.

  • no shoes either

  • Damn, that's over twice as much weight as I can do. #beast!

  • Holy freaking crap! Way the hell more than I'll ever be able to lift - not that I lift weights much.....

  • start with ur spine straight!!

  • has he ever given the raw deadlift record a run?

  • What's his three lift total?

  • I wish my gym had olympic platforms, I miss doing this stuff

  • This man is indestructible. The thing with the knees made MY knees hurt.

  • how the hell did he rest that on his knees?

  • Ronnie does it for only 2 reps

  • WOW, I deadlift 600 for 1 rep and I thought I was a "beast" LOL

  • @BigSamFoSho Vid or it didn't happen.

  • @Wiegieboard lol just write "ronnie coleman deadlift" on youtube. Ronnie's ambitions are muscle mass, that's it. Whereas Derek is strength, so its not suprising that he's much stronger than Ronnie

  • @BigSamFoSho Naaaaw. I wanna see your 600. our 90k natural lifters normally do around 600+ lbs in my club (though I can't quite yet cuz I'm still a newbie). I just think that if you're hitting 600s, you should stick some of your videos up for folk to see and bitch about haha.

  • @Wiegieboard What the hell are you talking about I never said I deadlifted 600!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I think you replied to the wrong person

  • you guys are talking shit about an 800lb deadlift for reps? LOL!! i dare any of you to move that weight for ONE fucking rep, let alone 9! His form was cleaner then a lot of everyday lifters i see in the gym doing half of that weight. Who gives a shit about the bounce, hes a fucking strongman competator.

  • god damn

  • That was amazing.

  • sweet jesus jenny christ

  • The guy in the background looks shocked.

  • who is that girl says 800..

  • @yasinpatel12345 I'm not trolling, Jesus Christ!!!!!!!

  • one strong man...

  • lol why does he make it look so easy

  • Comment removed

  • that guy is all natural...

  • All around great strength not a 1 lift specialist. Question; top arm wrestlers do specialize in AW could he train to beat a Voevoda? I saw claim of Brzenk having pinned Kazmaier year (?) lots of weight difference in those 2. DP vs any top arm wrestler would be crowd draw and money maker. How about clean & jerk? Has he considered shooting for 266.5KG? Or his arms too big to rack weight properly? Matters we'd like to know about he really had Mariusz beat in stones mistake only cost win.

  • I'll bet if he didn't have the straps (Just kidding of course). There's only a few people in the world who can actually do this once, much less 9 times. Derek is an amazing athlete. He came within one small slip of becoming World Strongest Man. Great job and good luck in thr future!!!

  • That is just insane!

  • yeah thats fucking brute strength right there

  • and in the background you see a woman sitting down lifting 15 lb dumbells...

  • the nigga needed help with his belt.. lmfao!

  • Just amazing... I love the DL. For me it's THE lift.

  • Crazy endurance lifting. Check out misha koklaev's 300kg ATG squat for 9 reps, similar crazy weight endurance..

  • 0:57

Holy crap what was he trying to do ? Break his spine lol. Amazing lift !

  • bullshit thats not 800lb. your 1 rep max works out at over 1000lb, more than andy boulton, bollocks

  • @killatramp These are touch and go reps, not full reps. His max wouldn't be 1000lbs.

  • @MetalCamelChannel so is a full rep; locking out, then slowing bringing it down and resetting your self? cus if so then ive been doing deadlifts wrong for a loooooong time.

  • @1994barcenas That's right. Bring the weight all the way down and pull it back up again from the starting position. With touch and go reps, only your first rep is a full positive rep.

  • @MetalCamelChannel Bolton does them this way when he does reps. But since you know everything you probably forgot to mention that. Don't think Bolton ever claimed more than ten and he only has 5 reps with 800 on video.

  • @bigfattrolllord lol Relax dude, I never said anything bad about Poundstone, so what's the big deal? I think he's a great athlete and I don't care what Bolton does.

  • @MetalCamelChannel point is he can pull as many or more reps with 800 as Bolton. therefore you can't say his max isn't 1000. you dont know what his max is until he does it.

  • @bigfattrolllord His max is lower than 900. He said it himself. But it doesn't really matter, because that's not what strongman is about. Props to Derek for being able to pump out more reps than Bolton. That's quite an achievement as well. That shows the big difference between strongman and powerlifting. They're both great at what they do, that's what matters.

  • @1994barcenas Hey at least this means you'll start growing again right?! Sweet.

  • @RuggerFlail what do you mean?

  • @1994barcenas You said you had been doing it wrong for a looooong time. So if you start doing reps from a dead stop and reset, its going to give to make your body work, and wear you out more. It will start forcing growth. Gains are good. Much like if you were bouncing the bar off your chest for a bench press for years and you started pausing reps at your chest, your chest would start to grow from doing reps differently.

  • @MetalCamelChannel so if you stop for a sec at the bottom, will it make a big diference?

  • @Danielote12276 Yeah, because you may have noticed that your first rep is way heavier than the others. This way all your reps are that heavy. Not that the touch and go method is bad or anything, it's just different.

  • @killatramp 6 100lb plates, 2 45's, 2 25's, 2 2.5's and he's not counting those goofy ass collars. So yes, it's not only 800lbs but slightly more.

  • wow double overhand grip too

  • @fakeandgay69 Straps... Still ridiculous strength though.

  • In saw one deadlift, 7 squats with the bar in his hands and something that really hurt to watch. To his credit he is extremely strong to pull 800 lbs even once.

  • Wow,I thought the incredible hulk was green, amazing.

  • try over and under handgrip it's wayy better

  • @h20haloh20 he has straps on bro, makes no difference what grip he uses

  • why do they not wear shoes??

  • @DgregC It shortens the distance of the pull and it's also more comfortable and safer.

  • @DgregC So that he's lower to the ground.

  • I would love to have the problem of, shucks not hitting my 10th rep with 800.

I have seen this video like 20 times, it's still awesome.

  • In some of them the bar bounces but other times it's perfect

  • lol i tought that the black dude sitting in the back was going to shoot through the roof each time he smashed the bar ont he floor

  • some guys man. they're just insane when it comes to strength

  • this is legendary, this is the 100th time i see this video, lol

  • Jesus. I wince every time he puts the weight on his knees. I have this awful visualization that if I did that, I'd end up being a paraplegic. xD

  • Mixed grip he'd probably get 1000 pounds

  • @za1pp He had wraps though. That's better than alternating grip.

  • this is fucking stupid. no one should be able to do this

    I'm mad as hell

  • @popemobile15 umad

  • @Roflcopterdownpewpew MAD AS FUCK

  • That was only 8 reps. last one didn't count

  • @Adddamz No, he did 9 reps, count'em, the last one he failed would have been the 10th rep.

  • GODDAMN!

  • eyes up

  • whats the belt for?

  • @nicholas5674 it supports their back

  • @griffinbone OK THANKS MAN.

  • @nicholas5674 keep his back straight

  • @nam1971 OK i just realized, i need one because every time i lift weights my back hurts, am 15 and now lifting 300, trust me.

  • is derek using double overhand grip? it looks like he is but its kinda hard to tell.

  • @SkellaBoost Yes he is, the wrist straps help a lot but still a lot of weight for double overhand

  • are you in your socks? 0_o

  • oha the last rep looked woah crazy :D

  • what a monster...

  • 362.87 kilograms.......

  • Thats amazing. What do's he take?

  • @Damnationization Instead of eggs he eats fetuses.

  • Comment removed

  • all the critics are the sheep who spend their money on the bodybuilding magazines at the local supermarket...yeah, you got bought; you got duped; you got "got" ...that's one group of sheep right there...you other sheep keep your sheep traps shut or get a light shone on your bad self...

  • his form is perfect. different structures have different functions. the one's who criticize form have no concept of the wonderful gift God gave us...the body's form changes as we meet the demands of our ultimate potential...

  • well shit thats just awesome

  • Simply amazing! Those talking about his form are the same pansies dreaming about lifting half this weight. Stop hating and go lift.

  • Freakin beast!!!!! Anyone who has a comment about his technique, I dare you to do the poundage or the reps. Shut ur mouths if you cant hang!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to KILL IT BRO!!!!! FUCK the HATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well, first off I'll admit I can't do that but when I do deadlift, I always pause it on the ground between reps to make sure I don't bounce it up like he was just doing.

  • he's a beast definately, but those were not very clean

  • strongest man in the world Jesus Christ thats why this guy was put on this planet how in the hell him Ryan Kennelly Scot mendelson Andy Bolton how in the hell do these guys fet this strong

  • fucking powerful

  • wah. knarly.

  • @federalbecz he says he eats very clean like a bodybuilder but with about 10000cals per day

  • Any idea on what Derek's diet is like?

  • @PrsFenderJackson1980 well depending if its around contest or offseason, he eats anywhere from 6500-8500 calories a day.. he also drinks alot of blended chicken breast w water

  • I don't like double prong belts, see how he has to get that thing off!

  • God help him if that weight falls on his feet.

  • thats a big ass cop. if he told me to pull over i would definitely listen lol. but jesus, he did 750x10 and 800x9? Thats nuts for a 50 lb difference and only 1 les rep. just crazy. great job none the less

  • is this now 800 for one rep or for 9 reps??

  • @pickelamarsch um, 9 reps... did you even have your eyes open while you watched?

  • @sti1tz yes my eyes are open and if yours to than you can read under the vid the line :and his last warm-up was 800lbs for 1 rep. mabe now u understand my question'?

  • @pickelamarsch thats what he did as a warmup, thus, 'warmup'

  • @sti1tz now it´s clear :-) just the last "warmup" set was with one rep at 800 and then the goal for 10 and fucking near miss with nine reps. really heavy.... holy shit. most will not survive this warmup :-D

  • He makes Ronnie Coleman look like a pussy!

  • @whosayswho hmm first of all..ronnie coleman was 5weeks out of mr olympia wen he did the 800lbs deadlift and he is a bodybuilder first not a power lifter

  • @jpwhatwhat1028 absolut right! but for a bodybuilder on a olympia diet :-) pretty heavy! this guy is strong no question about it! but coleman also!

  • @pickelamarsch haha hell yea he is strong...

  • @pickelamarsch Ha Ha Ronnie maybe did the deadlift only once a week and still got to the 800lb club

  • @jpwhatwhat1028 Ha Ha Ronnie maybe did the deadlift only once a week and still got to the 800lb club

  • @jpwhatwhat1028 Ha Ha Ronnie maybe did the deadlift only once a week and still got to the 800lb club

  • @whosayswho Ha Ha Ronnie maybe did the deadlift only once a week and still got to the 800lb club.

  • @whosayswho not true

  • better than Andy Bolton repping 800 the should do a TOTALLY RAW deadlift and see who wins!

  • @lildrummerboy189 Andy looked like he had more in him, but the weight fell off the bar. plus Andy wasn't bouncing the weight. Each rep was from a complete stop. It takes a lot more strength to do what Andy did.

  • @royalsdb1188 true, I still want to see them in a raw powerlifting meet together.

  • fukin crazyyyyyyyyyyy 9 times hooly shit!

  • MONSTER!! GREAT PULLS

  • Fantastic Derek well done, great strongman true beast!

  • what now? 800 for one rep or for nine reps????

  • every athlete in the world has used.

  • anyone know how old he is?

  • @PG1990SAH Duh! he trains his brains out!
