Technique and relaxation. Even when your body curses you for not breathing. You have to relax and resist stroking like a mad banshee. It'll be over soon.
I don't see what the hypes about today I did two lengths of a 20 metre pool hungover and having never attempted or trained anything similar. If I trained surely the last 10 metres would be too gruelling?
Was showing off against other people in front of some girls at a pool. Someone one-upped my 25 meters underwater, so I went for 50 meters, and nailed it. It was weird since at about 30-35 meters, the uncomfortable feeling suddenly went away, and I felt like I could go another 25 meters. I'm pretty sure I was about to suffocate since I was breathing really hard but didn't have the urge. Needless to say I felt awesome, and its a pretty neat accomplishment everyone can do.
i do synchronized swimming, and we had to do a 75 underwater just to make team 1. its really not that diffucult. you just need to relax, do breaststroke underwater, count the lines, and distract yourself.
@wererandom101 dude, 50 meters is after a 6 mile run, Carrying a 450 lb rail, carrying a 70 rucksack all day, at least 500 pushups, weight training, cardio training, and extensive book work. This is SUPERMAN school, youre in PUSSY school.
When I do a flip underwater I try to tuck in my knees to my chest and then put my arms straight out and make "arm circles" until I complete a rotation. It's probably the fastest and most efficient way to do a flip underwater before an underwater.
I dont see what's so hard about 50 meters! I can do that and I dont train at all. The one I find impressive is the guy who holds his breath at one end for 1:30 and then swims the 50 meter! Now that's lung capacity!
I hope you understand that this is a 50 meter UNDERWATER swim..not surface swim, you do understand that correct? It takes alot of mental power to stay relaxed while swimming for 50 meters and not breathing. Can it be done? Yes, everyone can do it...but it's the BALLS and mental APTITUDE to do it that makes it hard.
Easy. Ive done that in a 50m pool which is even harder because there is no wall to push off of halfway. But then again I have been swimming competitively for 11 years so of course its going to be easy for me.
haha Just dive.. dive during a whole week and in3 or 4 weeks u ll b able to do this haha xD but its not easier with that scooba mask? well idk but nice vid :D I can do this.. ive been training for abour a year xD
true, 2 x 25m 3 mins in between, but (and don't think I'm talking down to anyone) with enough training both in and out of the water honestly, anyone can do it. Our boy here looks like he may have seen the wizard but who cares, he made it, ha, I love this shit.
Thought you mentioned in a previous post you were going to do this again, only with a better camera and a clearer video. Looking forward to it, whenever it happens. Maybe you don't have the lungs to do 50 uw anymore, so I'm not pushing you.
Yes, I am practicing deep breathing while here in Iraq. When I get back I will try to round up a 2 or 3 guys to help video, spot, etc. It will probably be around November, so staye tuned for more action to come!
I'm just now getting back in shape to become a CRO (PJ). Luckily I've still got over a year before I plan on joining the USAF. I tried this swim last week and made it 25 meters. I live at 2600 meters altitude which will hopefully help me out. Now I just need to learn the form; I'm currently just thrashing around underwater.
Hopefully within a year I'll have 50 meters easily under my belt at this altitude.
This is the reason I am learning how to free dive before I go to PJ indoc. I can swim 50m underwater already with just about 6 sessions of free diving practice at the pool and I'll get in about 15 more before I go to MEPS.
Just for the record the BUDS qualification swim is a 50 meter underwater swim. Candidates will enter into the water, execute a forward flip and complete 1 full lap up and back. Pretty much the same as depicted here. Do NOT ATTEMPT THIS without qualified individuals on hand as shallow water blackout is fatal! Congrats. If you are looking for fun, maybe give underwater football a try. It can be a blast, and is great for building stamina.
Thank you! I actually plan on making it an annual event. So this May 13th, I plan on trying it again. Hopefully I will have a better camera this time (we used a guys phone camera last time) and I'll put it up on YouTube.
wait a second is tummysticks talking about buying the beret fuck you the pj's earn those berets and sacrafice there lives for others if you just buy one and call your self a pj u desrved to get sevearly beat up
you can just buy one, it's really easy actually, and from what i've heard you can call your self a pararescueman once you have it. That's what i did and things have been great!! getting the respect i deserve!
you are a complete idiot tummysticks. why don't you do something hardcore like navy seals, army rangers, or coast guard rescue swimmer. Instead you want some red french hat.
lol I hope your kidding. I hope tummysticks is too (i am pretty sure he is joking around). I heard that Seals have a 400 meter underwater swim and they have to do backflips when they do their pushups too! Have fun debating not training. =[
dude you herd way wrong seals do 50 meters too i think theres very few people in the world if any that can swim 400 meters under wate do the math if we was under water for about 1 minite to swim 50 meters thats 8 minites to swim 400 not to mentions you wodint keep that fast of a pace
hey pararescue is more hardcore than a coast gaurd rescue swimmer have u ever herd of rescus pj's pull off obviously not because they risk there lives all the time not to kill but to save and not because some political asshole said to do so
fhrki, you cant really compare the two, pj's are sent in to rescue people from a combat situation, as the rescue swimmer isnt being dropped into a combat envrionment. i bet a rescue swimmer could out swim a pj, but i bet a pj could outrun a swimmer. they are both good at what they do.
you are RETARDED ther is only one force in ALL of the branches and that is CSAR (combat search and rescue) which anre also called PJ's they have to pass the swim test and swim quite a bit they also do airborne training and yes they are dropped into active combat zones "so that others may live" dont talk about things you dont know, your name prettty much fits you
i would have to disagree with you. One of the missions that PJs perform is as a rescue swimmer. The PJs of the 103rd rescue squadron based in NY perform sea rescues exactly like the Coast Guard does. To all of the bad ass lifeguards: the record at PJ indoc for the longest distance on an underwater swim with one breath is 120 meters. You can not pass out or blackout to keep this record and you must graduate the entire 10 week course. Those students have to do these easy 50's before they begin several hours of underwater "confidence" training every day. That's my two cents...
I'm a lifeguard at a YMCA and a couple of the other guards and I do these underwater no-breather 50's all the time, and we start in the water instead of jumping in. It's not that difficult. I have even seen one old guy do about a no-breather 65 yards.
65 yards is roughly 59 meters....a giant stride is harder than a push off the wall.....I had to go up an extra 10 feet to break the surface so its 53 meters....i did this for training....and your point is?
This quite frankly is going beyond the limits of most swimmers. I salute you.!!!
