Ok Sylvanas is a High Elf. She was killed defending her homeland from Arthas. Out of spite he rezzed her as a banshee, she breaks away from him and gets her body back. In WOW though they didnt have models for High Elves when it first came out so they used the Night Elf model for her. Its not a matter what she looked like, read the articles and play the games people.

Listen to her at 24second in she sings "Sin'dorei" which means blood elfs (or something akin to that) (not listen to the rest cba.) - Also if you read the book your sent to find that details Nathanos: Champion of the Banshee Queen's life (before he was made Undead) she talks about him being a Human Ranger (rare) under her tutorage who Kael'thalas didn't want her consorting with.

The lake that the Titans left full of power before they made the 5 guardians of azeroth (alexstrasza, and four other dragons each a different color)was called the moonwell. illidan filled a phial of it's water before it exploded. Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor were connected and split when the explosion happened, also forming the Twisting Nether.. then illidan took the phial and emptied it in Hyjal. its moonwell look it up

In the new WoW (Wrath of the Lich King) they remade her to look like she looked in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. She's a Blood Elf, is now and always will be, which is why she fights to get the Sin'dorei as part of the Horde. The Blood Elves will always be her true race, and she gave her life to protect them. I love the new Sylvanas, she's so much cooler looking. I recommend looking her up.
