  • 2:12 Jesus is in the studio!!!

  • love this song

  • One of my favorite movies, Willem Dafoe is beast.

  • 11 People don't deserve to live OR die in L.A.!

  • did tupac have to pay for this hook when he remade it?

  • Representing with that Steinberger!

  • This is my all time fave from them.

  • Pussy band! KICK ASS SONG AND MOVIE!!!!

  • @jprebel3 Are you schizophrenic?

  • This is such a totally awesome song from Wang Chung! One of my favs from them besides Dance Hall Days and such a great song for the soundtrack to this movie which btw was such an awesome 80's movie! I remember sneaking into the theatre with my friends back in the day to catch this movie because back then you had to have a written permission from your parents to see a rated " R" movie so it was just so taboo to do that! lol But hey, we were young and having fun! God how I miss those days! :-(

  • Tupac sounds different now i've matured :S

  • I missed this song and the video! I missed the Wang Chung band too coz im a huge fan. I wonder what happened to this group? I think they're a great band! I've had only a couple of albums of them:"Mosaic" [my favorite] and "Points On The Curve".

  • Very Good.

  • @kojakbangbang7 i like your style, kojackbangbang7

  • I remember seeing the movie in the 80s and thinking it was soooooooo gritty, the car chase so intense, and the plot twist at the end blew me away!...now this stands right by Michael Mann's HEAT as one of my favorite films set in LA and the music is fun too especially seeing this hilarious video here.

  • To Live and Die...in armpit city Marysville CA...LOL

  • ohhh...reel to reel tape..tell that to the kids 2day...they will be like, what is reel to reel tape..LOL

  • To live and die in Miami :D

  • Classic

  • Bill Peterson and Bill Defoe just starting out. Please the smokin hot blonde. One of the top 5 car chases. (Bullitt will always be number one). Now, we watch movies like Titanic and War Horse. And people wonder why we don't go to the movies.

  • @Cardwiz428 rick masters making fake money was an awesome scene too

  • i was making love to my girlfriend in 1987...had the radio on this song came on...i had seen the movie...great...jumped up and ran to hear it up close.....got back and she said thats why i love!

  • 0:00 to 3:58 is the best part

  • So many 80's tunes stand up so well to the test of time. It's not until I see the video footage I'm reminded this song and movie are over 25 years old.

  • man 1985 good times !!!

  • Was going to record over a cassette, until I heard this song on it.

  • good movie too

  • Awesome haunting song

  • Excellent soundtrack to a great movie , it's making it's rounds on the cable movie channels . Still a decent flick after 25+ years . Song still holds it's own too.

  • love this song. it is so 80s and wang chung has a cool voice

  • Best movie chase scene ever !!!!!!

  • If we had wrecked the car we never would have gotten it back to the motor pool on time.

  • @chokemurder254 you do know artists of today, do not write their own music, it's written for them, the 80's was a time where everyone wrote their own music and made their own way, nothing was handed to them, unlike the shitty music of today, Lady Gaga is the only musician of today that i can admire as she writes her own music nad lyrics

  • They kept playing this theme song too much in the background of the film.

  • great movie! and that blonde girl was so fucking sexy! dont even want to see what she looks like now. would rather just picture her from this movie =)

  • The 80's just ROCKED... PERIOD...

  • @odiemodie1

    You got that right!

  • these 80s dudes were the real deal, not like todays talentless f-cks

  • definitely one of my top ten movies of all time. A MUST see for any movie aficionados out there. plus a great soundtrack

  • Cool song, great film

  • great, Great movie!! some classic scenes, and great music! overall very intense! a MUST watch!

  • This movie kicks ass. William Petersen (CSI) is young and a total bad ass. Willem Dafoe was never better (Streets of Fire, Platoon, Spider-man). Wang Chung was never this good again.

  • wang chung ,en sus buenos tiempos, recuerdo del ayer,un tema con mucha profundidad e intenso.... desde chile para el mundo

  • i notice matioscaio's comment got hidden thru too many neg votes. i don't agree with him of course. but since it's a song, i feel he is entitled to his opinion altho i prefer wang chung myself.

  • You are the Best of the 80 '

  • omg William Peterson is the hottest guy ive ever seen

  • @lmyarrito hell yea without a doubt

  • Great Song, Excellent movie!

  • The woman putting her shirt on after a good lay - Amanda Plummer from PULP FICTION, right?

  • @GreenshirtMr1023 Not quite, Greenshirt, the actress in the movie "To Live and Die in L.A." was Darlanne Fluegel. She does look a lot like Miss Plummer, I'll grant you.

  • @badjaycl " HE'S DEAD, YOU WORK FOR ME NOW"

  • @rupie61 chance kept that blonde on a leash.." I'll revoke your parole" hahaha

  • this movie ALONE ENTIRELY.. spawned bunjee jumping all together. definatley a cult classic, was always underated.

  • 6 people, clearly dont want to live and die in LA.

  • Beautiful Clip from 1985.

  • @2:40 pro skills, recognize

  • great movie

  • William Peterson pre-CSI... good flick

  • Great music from an extremely underrated movie.

  • @WithoutRemorse12 under rated? movies a cult hit

  • @MaTchBoOkPoEt

I rarely see such great cinematic camera angles in chase scenes nor the perfect rawness that seem to be realistic.

    Great movie!

  • to all you cunts who think wangchung copyed tupac

    CHECK YOUR DATES

tupac is a cunt. rap is fucking shit

  • @MotorbikeCrave

Who the fuck are you to call 2pac a cunt? You don't know shit about rap, so don't comment about it.

  • @1dcube 2Pac is not shit, but fact, HE copied Wang Chung - he came afterwards. So many idiots should really check the release dates.

Great song, great inspired music like they're unable to produce theses days with all the shit 'techno'logy - everything is computerized.

  • Respectable 80s song from an excellent 80s band to a very good 80s police drama.

    TRIFECTA! Game over.

  • at least put the extended version ;-)

  • Watched this on Showtime last night. Classic 1980's - not to mention, one of the best movie car chases ever.

  • @ForgetaboutFreeman Just Google the music video. There's several other sites besides YouTube that show the music video in good quality.

  • Nice to see Friedkin in this! Not only is he one of the great movie directors of all time, but he has great taste in music as well. EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!

  • @ForgetaboutFreeman vevo doesnt have the only good video.

  • 3 Best Car Chase Scenes Ever:

    1. Bullit (1968) Steve McQueen

    2. The French Connection (1971) Gene Hackman

    3. To Live And Die In LA (1985) William Petersen

  • Ronin has two of the best car chases ever in one movie

  • Where's Billy Friedkin?...is he in this video/..he's a great director.

  • Rick Masters (Willem Defoe) to the bastard that ripped him off: "Your taste is in your ass."

    Best Movie Ever about counterfeiting.

  • @popdan100 I see you don't know your timetable very well. To Live And Die in LA was made in 1984...Tupac was about 12 years old....so u can suck up MF!

  • @rowdymax1 isn't ignorance bliss? @popdan100

  • An incredible movie, seriously underrated. If you have the chance SEE IT!

  • @ForgetaboutFreeman Good Lord! Here we go again (rolls eyes). Look, the only idiots around here are the ones like yourself who took my joke about Lennon being in the video seriously. Yes, i'm very aware that Lennon died 5 yrs before this. Enough already!

  • Whoever edited this video wrecked it.

  • imagine Grissom chasin' bad guys nowadays?

  • Nice video.

  • i have this movie and i cant recall the guy with the bomb that blows him self up...what gives?

  • @sprintbass That's John Turturro.

  • @Dilberto88 ahhh yes its in the first 5 mins of the movie actually...its pretty realistic looking..this is a good movie though i didnt like the ending so much...petersens partner was not cool enough to be the boss of such a hot woman lol.

  • @Dilberto88 No it's not. The terrorist at the beginning of the movie is played by Michael Zand. John Turturro plays a different character.

  • good song great movie ty

  • Even after 25 years, this song never gets old, especially if you crank it up on a nice car stereo and/or killer earphones!! Great song!

  • Just saw TLADILA last night. Haven't seen it since high school. As good today as it was then. Forgot the ending - shocker. DVD has alternate ending too!!! ;-) All wang chung songs throughout movie... and the 80's cars! Way cool! They all had their own distinct shapes! Miss them!!!

  • love to live and die in la. its a gem.

  • william friedkin is in the video. the director of the film.

  • @ForgetaboutFreeman I feel you, bro, but still: FUCK VEVO!!!

  • Fabulous movie ,plot twists galore..yeah...It stands the test of time well.

  • @gatorbait51 This song is awesome and the soundtrack in general To Live And Die In LA is awesome, but the movie stinks. I am a huge Wilem Dafoe, Steve James, and Dean Stockwell fan and I can not sit through it. The plot is all illogical nonsense starting with SECRET service agents who run around telling EVERYBODY every 2 seconds that they are SECRET service. The movie goes for Miami Vice type stylishness, but does not have the Miami Vice type powerful writing to make the stylishness work.

  • @MRobert21 this Movie came out in 85 which means there were shooting in 84 the same year vice came out its unfair to compare this movie to a tv show and vice versa they both great

  • @nitroelite Miami Vice made its debut in September of 1984. To Live And Die In LA made its debut over a year later in November of 1985. Look it up on IMDB and learn something before you state false facts. To Live And Die In LA was trying to copy what Miami Vice had done on television. To Live And Die In LA failed because it got the music and slick look of Miami Vice copied right, but the characters and plot in this film are insipid, unlike Miami Vice. Now I am done with you on this video here.

  • @nitroelite exactly

  • vevo suck a dick

  • Excellent song, incredible movie!

  • I heard Cover Girl causes cancer in humans and whales. My birth mother's second cousin said so.

  • I love this song! BUT! OMG! this video is one of the worst I've ever seen!

  • Vevo suxxxx!!!!!!!!

  • What the hell has happened to youtube? What is destined to happen to anything that is supposed to be by the people and for the people including government.Spread this..Copy and paste everywhere.

  • Old cash has so much more character. The new bills look like Monopoly money.

  • Fuckin good movie anyway

  • A great song from one of my favorite 80's movies.

  • Big fan of this movie and this band...

  • Cool video and great song from the 1980s.

  • 2pac is way better

  • @khalsa4life100 thats why he died from gun shots and wang chung is still alive

  • I hate vevo like I hate soggy ceral....

  • at 2:32 it's aaron rodgers rofl

  • This is one the best 80's songs and video songs of the 80"s .Amazing !!!

  • Wonder what ever happened to theses dudes?? From Dance hall days to Everybody Wang Chung tonight. I thought that they were on theyr'e way!!

  • that isn,t John Lennon. This guy works for Atlantic records.

  • Comment removed

  • Dafoe ftw.

  • @ForgetaboutFreeman if a guy who looked like Tupac was standing there he would've said the same thing it's just a joke. Take it easy man. RIP John Lennon.

  • They dont make movies like this anymore, nor does anyone make music like this anymore either, creativity seems to have just about run dry nowadays in the music business.

  • wang chung is ok,he was better in men without hats

  • At 2:11 John Lennon makes a cameo appearence in the video :~)

  • ALOT OF FAMOUS STARZ ON HERE that weren't then(1985)> I was only 10 when this song&moview came out it was pretty popular~

  • happymike44 Manhunter was actually directed by Michael Mann of Miami Vice fame. To Live and Die in L.A. was directed by William Friedkin.

  • Simply one of the best movies ever it was way ahead of it's time.

Same guy created this also filmed a movie call Manhunter.

Manhuter was the very first movie to introduce us to Hannibal The Cannibal Lector about five years before Silence of the Lambs.

These movies are simply some of the best movies filmed for the 80's and the 90's.

  • @happymike44 Sorry, buddy. Manuhunter was directed by Michael Mann. If you watch the movie it has a very much a "Miami Vice" type of feel. Friedkin directed Live and Die in LA. I thought the movie was okay, the same actor who played Hannibal Lector in Manhunter also played Colonel Stryker in X2.

  • These guys are so sexy.

  • nice leap off the Vincent-Thomas bridge in LA. running from San Pedro in the south LA harbor into Long Beach.

  • ...i think the next time I get a dog I'll name him 'Edit' .. LOL

  • Great song from an underappreciated film.

  • @FiendsInRedSatin1

Agreed! Today that film holds up just fine.

It must have opened against some PoS date flick.

I don't think the distributors knew what to do with it.

Dafoe,Turturro,Stockwell,The Smokin' Hot Debra Feuer,Jane Leeves fahkrissake; Great cast in a great story, well told.

AND, The Baddest Car Chase Scene EVER----including the one in Bullitt.

  • @Gmissile Amen on all counts. I think that the biggest problem "To Live and Die in LA" had was that it was just too much ahead of its time.

  • @3:12 its David Lee Roth of today! Musta got in to Doc Browns Delorian.Wanted to be in a 80's video one last time!

  • my first exposure to wang chung and william petersen...and my most favorite video from them!

  • Great Movie. notice a young Grissom from CSI?

  • @stucat06

William Peterson had an even better role in Manhunter the next year (1986). Manhunter was actually the first of the Hannibal Lecter movies. Red Dragon was the remake.

  • @pinz2022 Manhunter is an amazing movie, far superior than the remake. As a fan of Thomas Harris' books, I have always felt that Brian Cox' Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter was much better than Anthony Hopkins' version. Especially if you have read Red Dragon.

  • @tgear77

I'm with ya'. Brian Cox portrayed Hannibal as less over-the-top theatrical. Hopkins chewed the scenery. I believe Harris wrote the character as a Southern gentleman but both Cox and Hopkins used their native Scottish and Welsh accents respectively.

  • @pinz2022 I don't know if you read the book, but Will Peterson's character only figures out that Lecter is the killer by looking at the books on his shelves and realizing, with his 'gift', that the killer would read the same type of books. Lecter had been interviewed repeatedly and passed every time because he seemed normal. Cox played it that way; Hopkins played him as a psycho. How could you not think he was a serial killer?

  • @pinz2022 Thanks Ill look for that.I wonder if its on DVD? Love the 80's action flicks.

  • @stucat06

I'm pretty sure you can get it on Netflix. It's a classic. The young William Dafoe did some great villains back in the day (don't forget his biker-gang leader Raven Shaddock in the 1984 fantasy: Streets of Fire--with a teenage Diane Lane as the sultry good-girl rocker he kidnaps).

I have to admit, I really didn't like To Live and Die in LA all that much when it came out--even the hero was a lowlife and the plot was just too much.

I'd kill for the iconic movie poster though.

  • @pinz2022 I have the dvd of Streets of Fire and the album soundtrack.

  • @stucat06

Apropos of "Streets of Fire". Punch it up here on YouTube. I still have the soundtrack on LP. It has some great songs on it (although Diane Lane didn't actually sing them).

  • @pinz2022 Another fave we have in common. I loved "Streets of Fire" (but then I would crawl on broken glass to see Diane Lane in tight skirts and stockings...). Michael Pare is not much of an actor, but that part was made for him. And Defoe does a great sociopath in that one. Walter Hill, the director, always said it was one of his favorite films to make and you can tell by watching it.

  • just saw WC in the Norwalk...I seriously went back in time...loved it!! Please come back!!! ure da bomb! also bought their CD, autographed! Thanks gentlemen! IT

  • 0:55 I am a Marytr. Death to all infidels of Islam...Allahu Akbar!!! BOOM!!!

  • @Hot80s you degraded traumatised subhuman wifebeating non-white savage scum. You fucking plague of the earth.

  • @MrCreativeperson lol, relax douchebag. that's what the bomb-straped guy says in the actual movie in 1985.

  • @Hot80s looool (yeah ive seen the movie many times), still though dont be a dickhead posting shit like that :-)

  • William Petersen....SO HOT!!!!!!

  • the only good video in this segment is that of the movie itself. the rest blows. so in other words, just watch the movie.

  • vodude

Unfortunately Lennon was killed in 1980, this song was from 1985.

I am sure he would have been a fan, though.

    Pretty scary likeness, though

  • an 80's favorite...great song and film...messed up ending...real plot twist....rent it or buy it

  • I love to listen to this song when i'm doing manual labour, this song has real balls you can really get into the beat.

  • A good movie with a decent soundtrack. and a passable car chase scene as well. This song in particular is a great one.

    Petersen and Dafoe are amazing.

  • Anyone else surprised to see John Lennon make a guest appearance in this video? (0:01-0:06). Must've been a big fan of Wang Chung. LOL

  • @vodude

    uuuummm..J/K right?

    That's Rick Rubin the producer.....

  • @vodude

Dude John Lennon died in 1980 that was not john Lennon the song and the video were written in approx 1986 or 1987.

But he was deceased for quite a few years bfore this song and video were completed.

Wang Chung wrote it for a move called To Live and Die in L.A. one of my favorite movies ever.

  • @happymike44 Haha. Yeah I actaully knew that John had died long before this video was made. I was just being a smartass. But thank's anyway. Btw, this movie & song came out in 1985. You were probably thinking of their album "Mosaic" which came out in 1986.
