I don't blame Katara for being a bitch around Zuko. She trusted him before anyone else, and then he betrayed her, and because of that, her best friend (and the world's LAST HOPE) almost died. I would have kicked Zuko's ass if I was in her place.
What I found interesting about that episode is that it is the only time, or one of the only, Aang gave Kataria advice. Usually it was the other way around.
i agree w/ the katara lovers. She was a bit harsh, but w/ good reason and intensions. like nitcraze said no one has a prop w/zuko.........plus shes awesome scary.........the laughs real creepy though.
I like bitch Katara better! She was so freaking naive and I just couldnt stand her in the first season....In the second season she's a little more badass and I like that. Go bitchy Katara!!!!
Everyone has things that tick them off time to time. Katara went overboard? Not really, considering what had been done before, she reacted with her mind on one thing, Aang. She pictured Zuko with nothing but evil, the loss of her mother (due to him stealing her mother's necklace) and the loss of Aang (He managed to take Aang). And betrayal of hopeful trust.
But yeah interesting comparison - and the laugh really does make the connection creepy :P But she isn't like Azula at all.
Gosh your right!!! I always thought katara was a bit** in those episode from season 3 but my god even her way of laughing and her gesture remainds me of azula Ôo if never notice befor.
Katara is actually acting more like Zuko in this episode, driven by her emotions, namely rage. We've seen her this way before, challenging Paku to a duel at the north pole "Old man, I will KICK your ass", and when Jet makes his appearance in Bah Sing Se. By contrast Azula is cold and manipulative.
Katara..azula.....?? I think you just don't know what's happening this episode..Sooo....look again and listen good then you will know why Katara does so mean to zuko.
u guys r so dumb. katara only acted like this in one episode and sometimes but to zuko only even then she forgave him eventually so get off her back ok? for god sakes shes a teenage girl who lost her mother! and feels like it could be zukos fault cuz hes fire nation too and incase u didnt hear her speech in the black hills she did trust zuko but he made his choice and she and aang paid the price.
oh and it could also be that time of the month too so.............................................
the closest thing to aang dying is wen he was shot with lighting by azula in the old catacombs with ba sing se but thanks to kataras fat ass he survived the lightning
ye so u no wen the avatars die, a new 1 is born, if theres a book 4 coming out (i said if!!!) there could b 2 avatars!!! n katara goes off wiv the uva 1 or sumthin n the new avatar, zuko (even though hes wiv mai) n aang fight it out!! lol :P :D ...
Yes but dont u remember? Aang was in the avatar state when azula killed him, and if an avatar dies in the avatar state, the avatar cycle stops. So, there would not have been a new avatar, if Katara had not saved him. So the idea of there being 2 avatars at once is totally false.
I actually like the new Katara. Well, kind of. The old Katara didn't seem to be able have any dark moments... and really, that's hard to believe, especially for someone who lost their mother due to murder. Plus, old Katara was so trustful to everyone, which might not be so good when your fighting in a war and your enemies keep a close eye on you...
It just seems that it was time old Katara stopped being such a goody-goody, and showed some anger. (Not too much though)...
Except that you never found out what happened Zukos mother the only thing i dont like about the end of Avatar is thast i think Katara and Zuko should have fallen in love.
It often seemed to me like Aang loved Katara but Katara was mostly thinking about Aang as a good friend.
It even often seemed like Zuko and Katara was supposed to fall in love many times to me.
Katara is a victim who lost her mother because of the fire nation. It isn't strange that she hated zuko. it's just impossible for a human to be good after all of this.
Katara is the only character I dislike, she is such a bitchy, 'woe is me' character. The fact that she gets so much spotlight than ANY other character really makes me wonder when she isn't the protagonist. She got a back-bone in season 3 but then falls onto her emo teen-rage over again and again. In short: I really find her annoying and wish she would get over herself. I wish Toph or Suka (both which Katara puts down especially her brother has an idiot) would be more in the centre than Katara.
Well I disagree because Katara is a strong beautiful girl and a good leader. I also think shes a good role model. Yes she has her moments but every one does. Don't blame her.
The moment you speak of happens again and again. It really gets annoying. She puts Zuko down(she he first joined) just so she can feel better about herself. She also does it to everyone else in the group at some part of the series. She needs to be more emotionally intelligent about herself badly.
And lie to Aang. And take Appa without his consent, knowing full well that it would hurt Aang's feelings. But did she care even in the slightest about Aang's feelings? Judging by her cold reaction toward him when he caught her, I'm inclined to say no.
This is why I stopped shipping Kataang. Aang deserved better than that.
Yeah or maybe Toph, since she's closer to his age and they balance each other nicely personality-wise. Don't get me wrong, there is more than enough evidence that Kataang is canon, and I wouldn't have it any other way, but after the abuse that poor Aang had to suffer in Southern Raiders it just doesn't feel right anymore. Oh well.
Verbal abuse, yes. Especially if you consider the fact that he genuinely loved Katara whereas she practically spit in his face by sneaking out on Appa. Not to mention the way she completely shut him down when he confronted her about sneaking out. Simply put, Katara may as well have told him something along the lines of, "Yeah I'm betraying your trust, so what? Go cry in your little corner, you big baby!"
Like I said, Aang deserved so much better than that.
Just because Katara is a little 'darker' than she was when the show stated out definitely doesn't maker her 'The New Azula'. Yeah, she got tougher (and cooler) as the show went on, because she experienced more things that would make her that way. Just because a girl isn't all sweetness, she's evil?
Katara is awesome and always will be, and this implication that is the new azula kind of seems a bit sexist to me.
Anywho, sorry for going on about this, but I love Katara!
WTF is up with this video. The music was awsome, but it would have been alot better with talking or somthing! Plus even though Katara lost her cool somtimes doesn't mean she is "The New Azula".
When Zuko finally join Aang and his team, Katara have every reason to have a attitude with Zuko because She was the first one to forgive him and Zuko turned his back on her!
I think the similarities between the two near the end were done on purpose. The creators wanted to show how both girls had a great deal of anger and bitterness in them over the loss of there mothers which they both projected onto Zuko. Katara in the end however was able to get over her loss and become like the sister Zuko never had in Azula.
I think that she's just developing as a character. A lot of the clips you showed were when she was against Zuko, because she was upset with him being accepted into the group.
Also, Azula is more manipulative and controlling than Katara. She has a mental problem, and more than likely, a narcissitic personality disorder, which attributes to her personality.
Has anyone made a video called "Avatar - The New Joker," featuring clips of CraZula, with the music "Why So Serious?" by Hans Zimmer & James Newton yet?
It's character development, not inconsistancy. The bloodbending episode and the Zukohate episodes show a darker side of her personality, and I think it's a scary and fascinating thing they did to the character. She is old Katara again by the end though =]
Right, and I think they did an absolutely AMAZING job on all the characters. They're like real people, and people are complex and have many sides of their personalities. Katara is the same way. And 4 the record, Katara's nicer than Azula. What's w/ Azutara?
i agree, she was a bitch, ever since the middle of season two, but can you blame her for being skeptical of zuko? i mean, shes only trying to protect aang. besides, azula is a cool character, and katara can never be her.
she can NEVER be like azula... azula was (before she became crazy)absolutely indestructible, because: 1. she uses fear and manipulation to control people; 2. she has no feelings to croud her fighting abilities ...in other words, even if katara has changed from a nice girl to someone a bit tougher, shell NEVER ever be azula.
Also, I'm sure most of you only hate her because she was mean to widdle Zu-zu. In the earlier seasons she was a self-sacrificing pushover, and when Zuko betrayed her she was humiliated and furious. She offered to heal his scar and it seemed like he was on her side, but then he took the side of his sister and basically pwned her majorly. If you ask me, I'd still hate somebody, no matter how hot, if they did that. And her threatening to kill Zuko is no different than Sokka threatening Azula. >.>
you can't judge katara on her blood bending-- she refused to use it and on the one person she unreluctantly used it on was the man who killed her mother(or she thought did). I mean, if someone killed someone you loved just because they could, wouldn't you be momentarily blinded by rage?
Wouldn't you also feel absolutely terrible if the first guy you unleashed said rage on turned out NOT to be the killer? I know I would! I can understand her bloodbending while she thought he killed her mom, but no remorse after she found out he was innocent? For shame!
Once again--innocent man?? He's a fire bending general in command of troops that destroy villages homes and lives. I wouldn't be sorry at all. I would feel embarrassed that it was the wrong one, but i would go as far as to say the poor little firebending general was a victim of something undeserved
Hmm yeah that's true. Since he's associated with the same group, it would make sense that she would take out her anger on the Southern Raiders as a whole, at least by enough not to be begging forgiveness after bloodbending.
She may very well have traumatized him to that effect. I mean come on, someone torturing you for a crime you didn't commit? Being unable to control your own body for no explainable reason? (Remember, he didn't know bloodbending exists.) That's enough to make any human being lose their sanity!
No offense to any Katara fans out there, but this video's title is 100% true. Because let's face it, even if she still didn't trust Zuko, she could have at least just kept a close eye on him instead of resorting to death threats, childish mockery, and overall verbal abuse. And don't even get me started on her lying to Aang, using bloodbending to terrorize a man (Not Yon Rha) and showing no sign of remorse when said man turned out to be innocent. Simply put, the sweet Katara was all a lie >: [
oh come on! zuko betrayed her. She forgave him in the end but he tried to friggin kill them! she opened up to him and when he decided to try and flip flop (AGAIN!!) i dont blame her for being skeptical. She wasn't being cruel--she was afraid of being burned (pun intended) again
Yeah right. If I may point out BMR, she only "forgave" Zuko after she got something she wanted from him (namely, a shot at Yon Rha). Plus, Zuko isn't the only one she's abused. There was also Aang (lied to him and ran away on Appa, knowing it would hurt his feelings) and the Southern Raiders guy before Yon Rha (wasn't sorry at all when she found out she used bloodbending on an innocent man). Don't get me wrong, I was a Katara fan from day one, but Southern Raiders was a wake-up call for me.
Okay, do you think that guy was an "innocent man"?? He probably did stuff that deserved it and Aang knew she had to see this through to close her pain. There were all moments where they hurt each other, not just katara. Thepoint is they grew. And if you want to use southern raiders as an example, then look at the fact that she spared that man. She didnt forgive him, but she couldn't bring herself to become like them and kill
Innocent until proven guilty anyways. If he wasn't actually shown doing something to deserve a bloodbending, then I'm not going to assume he did. And she only spared his life because she thought he was too pathetic, and not out of any degree of kindness.
But your other comment makes sense. Since he was in the same group, I can see why Katara would think of it that way; she's still human after all. So thanks for proving me wrong because I was so distraught since then.
But he wasn't innocent. He was the leader of a horrible, ruthless gang of people who pillaged the Southern Water Tribe. Frankly, the Southern Raiders deserved it just for joining the group. Katara cannot be considered Azula by a longshot. Azula is ruthless, but Katara actually has restraint and forgiveness inside her. She forgave Zuko because he helped her bring her mother's killer to justice and didn't take advantage of her like he did at the end of Season 2.
BMR already explained that to me, but if I may point out, Katara only started being nice to Zuko after he gave her what she wanted, namely, a chance to confront her mother's killer. This shows a bit of selfishness in her because in all honesty, would she still have forgiven him if he had failed to find Yon Rha for her? I think not!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
So what if she did? Zuko played her for a fool back in Ba Sing Se to get his scar healed. I think she would've forgiven him, just for the opportunity to try and find him. But since they did find Yon Rha, I guess we'll never know. ;)
Well yeah, I suppose it'll never be made clear. Although my point is, other perfectly valid reasons to at least start forgiving him (most notably him nearly dying to save the others from Azula's airships) meant nothing at all to her.
But it makes sense, that she would have been unable to trust him again because of her anger toward Yon Rha, and that Zuko at least trying to find him would've proven to her that he was different. So yeah, you have a valid point there.
I think the new Katara is much more interesting. I like her a lot--it makes her more of a dynamic character. :) And she's pretty kickass in that new outfit. ;)
I don't blame Katara for being a bitch around Zuko. She trusted him before anyone else, and then he betrayed her, and because of that, her best friend (and the world's LAST HOPE) almost died. I would have kicked Zuko's ass if I was in her place.

The creators wanted to show how both girls had a great deal of anger and bitterness in them over the loss of there mothers which they both projected onto Zuko. Katara in the end however was able to get over her loss and become like the sister Zuko never had in Azula.

no one can replace Azula's unique personality. XD
outerspacec 3 years ago
I think that she's just developing as a character. A lot of the clips you showed were when she was against Zuko, because she was upset with him being accepted into the group.
Also, Azula is more manipulative and controlling than Katara. She has a mental problem, and more than likely, a narcissitic personality disorder, which attributes to her personality.

I didn't like her after what she did to aang...

Has anyone made a video called "Avatar - The New Joker," featuring clips of CraZula, with the music "Why So Serious?" by Hans Zimmer & James Newton yet?

One cannot comprehend the true power of the dark side...
Maturing can only go so far for character development. D:

It's character development, not inconsistancy. The bloodbending episode and the Zukohate episodes show a darker side of her personality, and I think it's a scary and fascinating thing they did to the character. She is old Katara again by the end though =]
musicalmousie 3 years ago 3
Right, and I think they did an absolutely AMAZING job on all the characters. They're like real people, and people are complex and have many sides of their personalities. Katara is the same way. And 4 the record, Katara's nicer than Azula. What's w/ Azutara?
SnapDragon110 3 years ago
Azutara.... crack ship perhaps? xD
But yeah they get kudos for wonderful characterization. =D Ahh I can't believe the show's over =[

omg this is so true. she is such a bitch to zuko when he first joins them. and then she is in this sort of revenge for her awful childhood mode.
airbender1800 3 years ago 4
i agree, she was a bitch, ever since the middle of season two, but can you blame her for being skeptical of zuko? i mean, shes only trying to protect aang. besides, azula is a cool character, and katara can never be her.
Fader33 3 years ago
yeah, azula is too epic in every way. but katara kept blameing zuko for the death of her mother. and im like, uhh he wasnt the one who killed her...
Cerberus1800 3 years ago
Nooo!! Azula is Crazy and Katara is cool!!
123Kataang321 3 years ago
she can NEVER be like azula... azula was (before she became crazy)absolutely indestructible, because: 1. she uses fear and manipulation to control people; 2. she has no feelings to croud her fighting abilities ...in other words, even if katara has changed from a nice girl to someone a bit tougher, shell NEVER ever be azula.
il0vet0ph308 3 years ago
yeah, azula never had emotions shown while she was fighting, but katara..omg...its like every episode, she would cry..i hate her
Fader33 3 years ago
i know right. azula is too smart to be compared to katara.

Well, just because Katara furrows her eyebrows doesnt mean she's like Azula now...

And her threatening to kill Zuko is no different than Sokka threatening Azula. >.>
dancedancechickenman 3 years ago 3
very very true....although i don't think sokka would seem as intimadating to azula as katara was to zuko lol

you can't judge katara on her blood bending-- she refused to use it and on the one person she unreluctantly used it on was the man who killed her mother(or she thought did). I mean, if someone killed someone you loved just because they could, wouldn't you be momentarily blinded by rage?
BMRsaxyMarcher 3 years ago 2
Wouldn't you also feel absolutely terrible if the first guy you unleashed said rage on turned out NOT to be the killer? I know I would! I can understand her bloodbending while she thought he killed her mom, but no remorse after she found out he was innocent? For shame!
NTA247 3 years ago
Once again--innocent man?? He's a fire bending general in command of troops that destroy villages homes and lives. I wouldn't be sorry at all. I would feel embarrassed that it was the wrong one, but i would go as far as to say the poor little firebending general was a victim of something undeserved
BMRsaxyMarcher 3 years ago 2
Hmm yeah that's true. Since he's associated with the same group, it would make sense that she would take out her anger on the Southern Raiders as a whole, at least by enough not to be begging forgiveness after bloodbending.
NTA247 3 years ago
seriously!
emeraldegg 3 years ago
did katara rape that man?
khdude89 3 years ago
She may very well have traumatized him to that effect. I mean come on, someone torturing you for a crime you didn't commit? Being unable to control your own body for no explainable reason? (Remember, he didn't know bloodbending exists.) That's enough to make any human being lose their sanity!
NTA247 3 years ago
What!?!?
emeraldegg 3 years ago
i raly like Katara but that bloodbenging wasn't like her at all it's like she's on drugs or something After the kiss of Aang in the invasion ...
Dkmasteris 3 years ago
No offense to any Katara fans out there, but this video's title is 100% true. Because let's face it, even if she still didn't trust Zuko, she could have at least just kept a close eye on him instead of resorting to death threats, childish mockery, and overall verbal abuse. And don't even get me started on her lying to Aang, using bloodbending to terrorize a man (Not Yon Rha) and showing no sign of remorse when said man turned out to be innocent. Simply put, the sweet Katara was all a lie >: [
NTA247 3 years ago
oh come on! zuko betrayed her. She forgave him in the end but he tried to friggin kill them! she opened up to him and when he decided to try and flip flop (AGAIN!!) i dont blame her for being skeptical. She wasn't being cruel--she was afraid of being burned (pun intended) again
BMRsaxyMarcher 3 years ago 2
NTA247 3 years ago
Okay, do you think that guy was an "innocent man"?? He probably did stuff that deserved it and Aang knew she had to see this through to close her pain. There were all moments where they hurt each other, not just katara. Thepoint is they grew. And if you want to use southern raiders as an example, then look at the fact that she spared that man. She didnt forgive him, but she couldn't bring herself to become like them and kill
BMRsaxyMarcher 3 years ago 2
Innocent until proven guilty anyways. If he wasn't actually shown doing something to deserve a bloodbending, then I'm not going to assume he did. And she only spared his life because she thought he was too pathetic, and not out of any degree of kindness.
But your other comment makes sense. Since he was in the same group, I can see why Katara would think of it that way; she's still human after all. So thanks for proving me wrong because I was so distraught since then.
Peace ^_^
NTA247 3 years ago
lol. no problem =D
BMRsaxyMarcher 3 years ago
But he wasn't innocent. He was the leader of a horrible, ruthless gang of people who pillaged the Southern Water Tribe. Frankly, the Southern Raiders deserved it just for joining the group. Katara cannot be considered Azula by a longshot. Azula is ruthless, but Katara actually has restraint and forgiveness inside her. She forgave Zuko because he helped her bring her mother's killer to justice and didn't take advantage of her like he did at the end of Season 2.
dancedancechickenman 3 years ago 3
BMR already explained that to me, but if I may point out, Katara only started being nice to Zuko after he gave her what she wanted, namely, a chance to confront her mother's killer. This shows a bit of selfishness in her because in all honesty, would she still have forgiven him if he had failed to find Yon Rha for her? I think not!
NTA247 3 years ago 5
This comment has received too many negative votes show
So what if she did? Zuko played her for a fool back in Ba Sing Se to get his scar healed. I think she would've forgiven him, just for the opportunity to try and find him. But since they did find Yon Rha, I guess we'll never know. ;)
dancedancechickenman 3 years ago
Well yeah, I suppose it'll never be made clear. Although my point is, other perfectly valid reasons to at least start forgiving him (most notably him nearly dying to save the others from Azula's airships) meant nothing at all to her.
But it makes sense, that she would have been unable to trust him again because of her anger toward Yon Rha, and that Zuko at least trying to find him would've proven to her that he was different. So yeah, you have a valid point there.
NTA247 3 years ago
I think the new Katara is much more interesting. I like her a lot--it makes her more of a dynamic character. :) And she's pretty kickass in that new outfit. ;)
