@hahaha01357 At the end Ryudo was burying the granasaber as it was basically the source of the godlike power he held after the battle at the end. And he was talking to it as if addressing Granas, basically telling him: Hey, we fought the battle you lost, only we won. We created you, and we'll show you that we can get by from here on out without you.
I Love 2 Best in the series I love all the characters to bad its over and without anyone telling me what a geohound is and why people hate them are they mercenaries im guess...The world will never know
@Exundhob I figured as much but why they couldnt just call them mercs or ronin is beyond me but the thing that gets me is the only people that hate him are the people at the begging and some of the nun chicks no one else really hates him and you never see any others like him self unlesss you count those circus people that he knows when you go to the ruins and Elena gets drunk on berries
@ipeeandpoop duh hell you talking about this is a perfect epilouge, it wraps everything up, it beats when they only hint at what happens next like FFXIII, tales of the abyss ext
When I beat this game I couldn't help but bawl, either because the ending was good or because I didn't want the game to end. Hah. I really wish there was another Grandia game that had SOMETHING to do with this one. But yeah, this game is definitly my favorite game ever.
This is honestly my favorite game of all time. Playing this game is so great and gives me this great feeling when i beat the game to where i wish the game never ended. But sadly all great things must come to an end. This game will always remain one of my favorites if not my most favorite game through out my life.
Amazing game. I remember i was 13 when i beat this game on my dreamcast. When it got to the end it made me sad. I did not want this bad ass game to end.
I just liked this game i have it for PC and PS2 i like the music but i was a bit disepointed whit the ending it had a bit more then that ending i geuss but still this game rocks ^^
I thought it was great, seeing the credits and realizing just what sort of tie-ins there were to the first game. Winged twins, the power of gods turned to darkness in the hands of man, and an exceptional man able to handle the power and use it to combat it's darker manifestations. I still like the original best, but this game really won me over, regardless.
When I was 14 or 15 i played the ending sequenze (which takes after all over 30 minutes) over and over and over and over just to see this one last sequenze with the song its just so f***cking awsome :D
I remember I listened to the techno version of the song that Elena sings that came on disc 2 sooo many times. I listened to it so much that my dad was worried I was going to become a raver.
He told me that people who listen to this music do drugs and shit.
@ryudo113 You and me both, bud. I managed to get to the end of the game, and I almost flooded my bedroom with the cutscene of Ryudo talking to the spirit of Melfice... Kudos to Noriyuki Iwadare though for the soundtrack, a stormer.
I remember beating this game on my dreamcast. It took 4 years with breaks, struggling with parts, etc. I just rebought the game for ps2. 10/10 This is my favorite game
I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy titles, but I've also finished this one once...all I can say is that it's somehow unique,I felt emotions that I've never felt from a video game ever since then...just,awesome...
Well obviously. The Story Creation is some sort other than common or unique, i would call it Special. Additionally the game is long compared to nowday Games, so you get really fond of all the Chars growing up and going through a big change of mind and soul. The AnimationPics of the Chars while conversation is also an essential part, if you believe it or not ^^. Game System awesome, Story awesome, and graphic for THAT time is really good.
tnx for these vids. brings back gr8 memories. its cold right now n thats how i was when fighting malvar core. shiverin not just from being cold but by swet and pure intensity. the music, graphics, sound effects, voices, and gameplay just make this game so awesome. cant forget bout the story too. i miss gr8 games like these. just gets so many things right.
But he wasn't so far removed from the game that the experience didn't change him, which only made him all the more real. And to appreciate again how much he grows from beginning to end is reason enough to replay the game.
Part of what makes Ryudo so great is that, in a way, he almost pokes fun at the game and RPGs as a whole by interacting with some of the same old cliche characters in a way that's so ... not cliche.
It's almost like the writers transplanted a real person into the game and had him roll his eyes at those things that make gamers roll their eyes when they see them in a game. He was just so real you felt like you actually knew him.
You really do need to play it again because the conversations between the characters -- in other words, the character development -- is one of the primary strengths of this game, particularly that of Ryudo.
Everything that comes out of his mouth is brilliant. He always has that snappy comeback you wish you could think of yourself, and only once or twice did I remember it feeling forced (which, believe me, surprised no one more than me).
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
maybe if i play this again, i will change my mind (maybe). the conversations between the charaters look stupid to mee, like the writers weren't paid for this. graphics, well... i have this on PS2 (4/10 horrible) there's not even a single camera movement (ok there is but it's meaningless) CG, hmmm... ok. enemies in this game look the same, i mean especially the bosses. sound, well at least it's okay for me.
I'm just comparing RPG games, and that's my own opinion about the game.
Grandia games are just those type of games where you just think it is so real. You can picture all this happening and it seems so real. As if it is happening right then and there. You feel for all those people in the Grandia series. You feel for Justin, Sue, Mareg, Millenia, Ryudo, Elena, all of them. Its just a great game that you can just feel for with some good gameplay, and some great graphics for the system.
I love how everyone in the game was like, "Where's Ryudo? Where's Ryudo?" And you're thinking the same thing: All you want is to see Ryudo.
And then when Elena hits that transition from the Grandia 2 song to the Grandia 1 song and the camera reveals Ryudo by that tree ... man, I get goosebumps.
I dare say Ryudo is the best-written protagonist in RPG history and that this game has the best ending outside of some in the Suikoden series.
Grandia II was more than just a game to me. It was in every way an experience. There are very few games out there that are as visually, musically and dramatically beautiful as this, and none so life affirming.
Kind of funny how you can compare Grandia's philosophy to Bioshock's "No Gods, No Kings, Only Man". Both games speak to the power of human beings to find fulfillment in the self, the one economically and the other spiritually.
You think Kei Shigema and Yuichi Hasegawa read any Ayn Rand?
Yeah, well its hard to find, I just checked for it today at my game store, and they didn't have it. =P
I hope they put it on game tap, along with the first one, i'd play them all! :) what lvl were you when you beat the stupid core. He cheap shotted me by paralyzing my characters and unleashing all his devistating attacks.
-.- So I was like, I could just watch the rest on youtube, but the game was really cool! I hope I get to play Grandia III one day...Even Grandia I would be fine...
Respond to this video... Also, i was lvl 53 when i beat the eye of valmar, it was indeed hell but i ended takeing out the two tendrils and then kept useing sky dragon slash, white apocalypse and fallen wings to kill the stupid eye bats.
Last sentence we'll ever hear Ryudo say is: " Brother.. Melfice.. Can you hear me? Do you listen still?" Such depth such drama such suffiency.. amazing game really, probably a candidate for the best RPG no doubt about that, apart from the graphics, but who gives a damn anyways, that's what Ryudo would have said :)! But I will never say never about that we'll never hear Ryudo again :)!
Excellent... I too played this until I was almost at the end, but my dreamcast of old broke down then.... It's great that I'm finally able to see the ending!! thanks a bunch :-)
The music to this game has always been incredible to me. It still affects me emotionally to this day!

An awesome game really.. but its "love story" wasnt that good imo.. wouldn't compare it to FF ones atleast..
if it only had a better one, it'd be the best game (For me, because I mainly play RPG games hoping for a good love story and a good battle "system?")
I did hope for a better ending :/ but meh, I still love this game anyway
