  • Anyone know where this was filmed?

Was it the Autonomy Centre in Wapping?

  • Brilliant noise!

  • they kick ass!! haha!! i love how the chick in the back round is totally getting down!!

  • See Ruth & Janet- Hagar The Womb interview & music in, She's a Punk Rocker UK

  • Well, love it. Thanks for posting this, never thought I'd see Hagar the Womb again. Hmmm and Raymond too...

  • Zoe'll remember these and others I guess. Hagar the Womb were ace at the Brixton Ace somewhere in the'80's. ALmost blew Conflict off stage!

  • so great to see this, I was there and remember talking to the band in the bar afterwards but remember little else

  • i'm such an expert ligger!

  • Is Vi Subversa at the very beginning of the clip ?

  • @lux63 Yes.

  • Is this the band's own footage, or is it a clip from TV?

  • vids from a gig at leeds bierkeller (filmed by jettisoundz), with black flag and the cult maniax in early 80s. Turtle and Raymond were both on stage, not to be confused - former younger latter much older.

  • @hothags Turtle's my uncle, its really weird to watch this!

  • Hagar, Saw these guys jump the tube back in the day... gawd bless em

  • spacca il culo!

  • You can see the famous Turtle dancing on stage just prior to picking a fight with Henry Rollins.

  • They came late on the London 'Anarcho' scene but they none the less blew the dusty, dogmatic cobwebs off it and gave the scene some colour back to the scene, as well as a much needed boost of undiluted humour into the arm.

They're gigs were always good fun, they were political, but they also liked to have fun as well, Good piss take lyrics as well.

  • I remember seeing the at the Chats palace back in 83/84. Use to chat with the bass player alot but cant remember his name, Mitch rings a bell tho.

  • LOL FUCKIN AWFLE ROK ON HAHAHA

  • My god they were bad.. Never as good as the clowns!!.. Wots this anarcho stuff? Goldfish swim better.. Try TELFLIMS on youtube, its where its hat man/non man hehe Stringy ex human

  • My god that takes me back!

Is that "Raymond" (the old French geezer that used to turn up at all the gigs, shouting "We love you!") dancing (about 1min 07 sec.)? It looks like him.

    Hagar were really fun.

  • How funny, I have been talking about that bloke with another person at a different video. It seems that he is one of those people you never forget, in the other version he was a veteran of the failed Hungarian uprising of the 60's (a trustworthy source I'm told). Whatever his back round, he has managed to capture the imagination of us ex-'young punks'. mostly impressed I would imagine by his olive growing/farming looks and Spanish civil war clothing, me included.

Was it at the Fulham Greyhound?

  • Yeah, it was. I didn't know quite what to make of him at the time. In retrospect, he was probably an interesting guy.

What gigs did you see there?

  • Raymond (sadly no longer with us) was Romanian. He used to be a monk in Transylvania when he was younger.

  • Comment removed

  • puff the magic lived by the sea e didnt av much 2 say but believd in anarchy

  • hagar the womb rules¡

  • they stayed at my house and our band dan did some great gigs with them ! really good people

  • lovely stuff!!! i like it when the wheelie gets all soppy and nostalgic... ;)

  • FAN-bleedin'-TASTIC!!!!! So chuffed to see this - I ADORE Hagar The Womb! (Note Cult Maniax backdrop, like HTW, a very much underrated punk band from le 'eighties). Bless yer for posting up this gem, davedave25!

  • Great! When is this from?

  • This must have been mid 80s. Their mini-album was produced by 'The Mad Professor' - a John Peel favourite. I've got the album - some great stuff on it!

  • Do you mean 'word of the womb' with the giraffe on its yellow cover? because I would love to know if there is anything else by them released, they were great live, they gave off a happy fun vibe that was a bit of a relief when set against all the serious 'politicking' of the rest of the bands and the 'Nagasaki restroom' surroundings of all the banners and posters.

  • mad professor?

    the dj?

    dub and reggae?

  • @EddiRamone genuinely interested how mad professor links in , i love both these types of music ^^

  • Hagar the womb were around in the early to mid 80's, and used to play support to Conflict, Destructors etc.

  • Christ! Iused to write to Ruth Rack..

Can anyone tell me which one she is?

FROM MOMUS Fanzine..How young we were.

  • Was that EP Funnery in a Nunnery? Great record.I first heard them on the John Peel show. This video brings back great memories

  • I didn't hear about them stateside until they'd morphed into "We Are Going To Eat You" and got a lot of alt-radio airplay with "photograph". It's nice to see their earlier rawer stuff.

  • where's Elaine?

  • killer vid,saw em at least once.and they did have nice handwiting too..

    Cheers for sharing!

  • Saw them a few times around london with the other "crass bands" Cheers.

  • Never thought I'd ever see stuff by Hagar the Womb on the net. Used to write to Ruth in the days that everybody wrote to everybody. All I can remember is the most amazing handwriting i've ever seen. Nice people and awesome vid! ty

  • I loved Ruth & Karen

  • fantastic!!
