  • what do you design them with?

  • @alchemikey I use the 3d program Rhinoceros and its python scripting interface.

  • @henryseg would you be able to plot this...a golden mean spiral rotated around an axis?

goldenmean dot info slash grail3 dot gif

  • @alchemikey In principle yes. I would do it in a similar style to the "Archimedean Spire" sculpture.

  • @henryseg i would love to see you give it a shot...i have been wanting to see this in 3d for some time

  • @alchemikey in my copious free time... maybe you could email me a parametrisation of the curves in space? That would save some time.

  • @henryseg nope i dont know that information...i just know of some animations i have seen of it...here is another which gives a different view of it:

well if you do give it a try i would certainly buy it...peace mikey

  • are there fractal toys yet? million dollar ideas! for free.

  • @beastshawnee The problem with fractal toys is that they are almost by definition going to have small parts, which could be a choking hazard if broken off.

  • you work in the lab that has a 3d printer eh

  • @dvaifilmsdotcom No, I just order them from shapeways.

  • this is amazing, how do you go about producing works like this?

  • @TRips204 Do you mean designing it or physically making it? They're physically made by Shapeways, using a 3d mesh file that I upload to them. To design this one, I had to come up with replacement moves to turn a graph into a more intricate graph, in a repeatable way.
