  • It seems that most other condustors keep a tempo that is too fast for this compostion. This tempo is slower and much more dramatic. Perfect.

  • On which CD is this recording? Fantastic!

  • @rieske2000 ah found it: Tristan und Isolde / Tannhäuser / Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Deutsche Grammophon Production 1994

  • Is you niggas still ranting about a ten month old post? Read a fucking history book. Wagner made music for the Nazi movement

  • @AudioSurferMusic Eh Wagner died in 1883 ...

  • @AudioSurferMusic Ummmm....actually he did not...see, the Nazis did not come about until the next century. It is unfortunate that Hitler had an affinity for Wagner's compositions (even the most monstrous human being can appreciate his work). Alas, some of Waannr's offspring did assocaiate with the Nazi party. But hey, a great many Germaan was conned into his ways

  • UNGEHEUER !! MONSTRUEUSEMENT BEAU

    KARAJAN DER MEISTER !!

  • Here is the correct pace for this Wagner work. Congrats to Herbert von Karajan conducting Lenny Bernstein's (second) favorite orchestra.

  • @JayMaySayHey And the Best in the World according to Musicologists.

  • questa è vera sofferenza che porta alla poesia ed alla musica

    lauro

  • @DjChrispyNuggets You = Worst guitar teacher I've ever bestowed my Internet eyes upon.

  • @MindKillSwe lol

  • @DjChrispyNuggets Were you born that retarded or is it your frustration of being an untermensch (hahahaha) that made you like this?

  • @ChrisEyeris You Nazi...haha

  • Karajan at his best i think - the passion he has for this music is almost overwhelming... if only i could love Helga Dernesch his complete Tristan would be my favourite studio recording of this incredible opera

    bravo!

  • Wonderful!!!! but I am completely sick of google... I don't want an ad for " Wagner Spray machines" splashed across Karajan's portrait, YES I know it's necessary to make this a free service, but I really DON'T want to see ads in the pictures!! I really can't stand google's lack of soul they can't all be geeks over there?????

  • Awesome interpretation. 5*****

  • Wonderful composition. Can't stop listening.

  • I heart Wagner/Karajan

  • I've discovered the thing!! 2:00 has a note: I feel it like I'm being stabbed - or stabbing myself. And the next note 2:04 , I'm just bumped with a subit epiphany/ perception, a truly orgam of emotions and memories. -- It is the liebestod!! This is what I feel. Only now I've been reading that this might have to do with liebestod feelings.

  • Con Wagner mi sento un ' altra persona

  • @mary75mm

So do I... wishing you a great time. Buona notte.

  • who better than Karajan to play Wagner (or beethoven..)!?

  • Even better than Karl Bohm's 1966 version on Bayreuth Festival. World's BEST version, Wagner is alive with Karajan. Amen!

  • 2:48 through 3:02 is orgasmic

  • Exactly ! Orgasmic IS the word !

  • Too slow? No way. This is it. This piece is sort of a test for conductors to me, and so far noone has surpassed Karajan.

  • FANTASTICO.

  • @utarefsonmetushelac ELEVADO ERES KARAJAN. MISTICO RICARDO WAGNER¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • NO!!!! This is Karajan - he is noted for taking slow movements VERY slowly, but in Tristan it really does add to the mysticism and general atmosphere of the piece...

  • Agreed. I actually love it slower. I've heard this piece many times, but I distinctly remember hearing Karajan's recording for the first time, and it was like I'd never heard the piece before. He breathed an entirely different life into it, and I heard things I hadn't picked up on in other versions. For me, no one does this piece better than him.
