we have seen how poorly shogun performs after getting knee surgery, and forest hasn't been the same fighter since anderson silva. Forrest was the frankie edgar for lhw in that he kept coming forward no matter what you threw at him. Forest probably wasn't at 100% in this fight but the out come would have been the same if you ask me.
I have to admit that even I thought Griffin going down looked odd (and I hate mma conspiracy theorists and don't really care too much about Griffin's fights usually).
Anyway a dive wouldn't make too much sense ... I doupt Griffin needs money, or what ever. And the ufc doesn't need shogun that bad.
But, odd things happen in mma. For example one overhand right KO that looked like it barely touched was Bader vs Magalhes. So maybe the shot just clipped Griffin behind the ear.. GnP was real tho.
I'm a HUGE Forrest Fan but He's one of the most overrated fighers out; that's not to say that he should stop fighting I love watching him fight but when you put him in there with big name guys he tends to struggle, would love to see a Forrest - Rampage 2 though.
@cdizzzzle I know but Forrest decided to take the fight and it definitly affected him but it's unfair for Shogun to put him in a immediate rematch with Forrest after knocking him out because of that. If Forrest performes good in his next couple fights than this rematch should happen. But that's just my opinion.

Plus it does matter if shogun wasnt 100%, look at difference bettween both forrest fights

His fights with lyoto machida were the only fights i was impressed with him by...idk it might be because i've only heard him say "my knee was injured" or "i wasnt 100%" I never saw any videos of him or anything going to the hospital or anything, i dont like taking peoples word for things..Only time will tell. But im not discrediting him as a fighter

@tmasters27 well, did you see belfort vs akiyama?? it was kinda something like that bro, forrest took the center of the cage right away, they threw some punches at each other, a little leg kick and stuff like that, most of it was just "feeling", but then all the sudden, shogun went into beserk mode and start throwing punches, one of them landed un griffin's face and knocked him down, then shogun finished him with hammer punches to the face (similar to the way he finished lidell)

@kareem87said5 Guy most of the time when he looses it is because an injury held him back, look at forrest vs shogun 1 and number 2, see the difference when shogun is injuried and at 100%, he tapped third round in the first one cuz he idnt have enough time to train and recover, but now when he does have the time he drops his opponent first round

@kareem87said5 well if you look at some of his loses, shogun was injuried and didnt have enough time to train , but then when they fight again its completely different when hes 100%, this second fight is the perfect example. First fight shogun wasnt ready look at end result, second fight shogun was ready look at end result.

@kareem87said5 Well actually he was not healthy in the 2nd Machida fight because he was just coming off surgery. It was hard to tell if he was healthy in this fight because he finished him so quick. I don't know if Shogun was healthy in the Jon Jones fight but I don't think it would have mattered because he was rocked by that flying knee.If you are going to ignore the impact a major knee reconstuctive surgery has on a fighter (most people retire) then you are being silly

I am a huge Griffin fan, but I am absolutely on the fence on this one. Rua is going to be hungry, but you can never EVER count forrest out either. I just cant wait, and hope Griffin takes it.
