  • Just like the old saying goes!

"Invent a better chord hat, and the world will be pounding at your door!" Thanks for the awesome tune.

  • I watched all the way to the end 5*

  • But what if I'm a wantin to play in the key of D? ..... Rudd

  • It is in the key of D. My new model comes with interchangable chord symbols that allow you to play in any key

  • Brilliant!

  • Oh, how many times I wished I had that device at a jam session. Thank you for your creativity. By the way, in case you didn't know, your invention showed up in a discussion Google group: rec.music.country.old-time

  • Totally amazing! I loved it. Thanks guys for making me smile. I needed that. -^)

  • you guys are nuts and I remember the epiphany of invention on this thingy. you and sara running out to get tubing or something. love you, keep rockin.

    Tammy S.

  • Amazing. I can die happy now.

  • That was cute, but you couldn't hear the horns over the dulcimer. It looked pretty silly, though!

  • It's a shame you can't hear them over the mandolins!

  • You guys always make us laugh! Where's the dog scratcher video?

  • It's up now

  • guranteed grins: high touch/lo tech a contribution to peace.

  • "In Australia they call them "curly toots" instead of "party blowouts", but this is hilarious in any musical language."

Really? I've never heard anybody say 'curly toots' in my life...we just call them party blowers. :o

By the way, the hat is awesome.

  • Bass players around the world will thank you. Either we want to know what the chords are in the freaking model tune, or, we want the guitars to know what the chords are. Hooray for you! Old time it ain't no crime!

  • Great video Jim, I have wanted to see that one in action ever since I saw it on your webpage. I love it! now, are we gooing to be seeing any hammered dulcimer videos? :)

P.S. dad says many thanks on the tuning of his.

  • In Australia they call them "curly toots" instead of "party blowouts", but this is hilarious in any musical language.

i am gonna make some of my own music and put it up on u tube!!! thank kai

  • ingenious! i grabbed my guitar and played along, worked perfectly right away.

  • Well done guys! Good job on the crazy lo-tech chord hat.

  • Amazing, someone copyright this before apple release the ichord.

  • Hi. I'm some guy FROM Indiana. Not THAT guy, just some guy. Anyway, damn fine hat! Something useful on YouTube, amazing.

  • Of course by the time the harmonically impaired person sees the indicator pop up and is able to react to change his chord, it's too late and he'll be playing the wrong chord.

  • Omigod we're really...jammin.

  • You're not supposed to hear the hat. It's a simple visual indicator of key changes, unless I miss my guess.

And wouldn't it make more sense to signal the chord changes a beat or so early? Give the person 'following' more time to get with the program, if he doesn't know the tune?

  • First, I could hardly hear the "hat" and 2nd, the other instrument is a 3-stringed mountain dulcimer - usually tuned D - A - D, dad.

  • pretty funny...i played along and had some trouble...looks like it's hard to play and step on the basters at the same time.

  • LOVE IT, LOVE IT... :O) 'Just can't wait try this out on the folks. Well done guys. :O)

  • That's great - could you do a Neil Young song with your chord hat so all us Neil Young cover people round the world can play along?

  • I'll have to learn some first.

  • I've heard about it, but never saw it, until now, thanks to a tip by Tull. Jim, you comin' to Kentucky Music Week this year?

  • I'll be there.

  • Very entertaining. LOL So what is that 4-stringed mando lookin thing you're playin??

  • Glad you liked it. The instrument is a 4 string gourd mandolin. Made by some guy in Indiana.

  • That's awesome guys. Good job!
