The Militas only disavantage is they are loosely oranized now. As soon as conflict is sparked I belive that would change over night. Commanding offices, OIC's, platoon sergants, team leaders, squad leaders would be appointed and would travel across state lines to support another groups of freedom fighters.

The meaning of "arms" and the right to bear are very clear. The 2nd is arguably the least vague exspecaily with its caveat "shall not be infringed".
Considering it was a founder that wrote the words the Supreme Court is bound to work within the framework of these words. The court grants me nothing here. The same men that gave us the constitution gave us the Supreme Court and with much more apprehension about it protecting liberty than the citizens with arms.

Maybe UN "peace keeping" soldiers? They too are poorly trained in war fighting tactics, there soldiers are very undisciplined, they would be fighting in a unfamiliar land, they would have to cross an ocean to deliver much needed supplies. The militias would attack and slip back into the civilian populace, or disappear into the forest or mountains. The militias would dictate the pace of the battle and for the most part the UN soldiers would be sitting duck's.

He's vague and narcissistic. Few of these extremists actually understand the American system or the constitution. They are caught up in their own feelings of self importance, have mangled the constitution's meanings and who the founders actually were (and their importance today) and use their misconceptions to enrage themselves falsely.
I'd call that boob a fraud, but he's too vague in precisely what he's in a tizzy about that you don't even know why his lace panties are all in a bunch.

Federalist papers represent the intentions of 3 of the founders. Not all of them. Try again please. Next time use facts.

The Federalist Papers are what were used by those in favor of the Constitution to sell it to the people. So that is what we were told we were getting we we ratified the Constitution. We do not have the form of government that we were sold or agreed to. That's why he is pissed. If you want to be delusional & think we do, I don't care. Just don't think you can misstate things here & I will not correct you. The Constitution is there to limit government power & they disobey every single prohibition.

@seeit: you're exactly right. The founders knew that there was no way to limit government except by expressly limiting it, which is what the Constitution does; it limits the power of gov. There is no possible way to list what powers the gov has, if you try to do that, you'd just be giving unlimited power. But these guys now just ignore the Constitution - the executive, legislature & the courts. They just step over it, into whatever they want. Our supreme law & ourselves - ignored, discounted.

Yes but one of them, Madison,had more influence on the constitution than Jefferson. Hamilton was also highly regarded. Both ended up as president.

It really doesn't matter what their intentions were. Intentions and the law have zero bearing, What matters is what they actually implemented and its the US Supreme Court case law that gives the constitution its value.
The founders and especially their intentions are more or less irrelevant.

Their intentions or opinions are really no less relevant than the opinions of the Supreme Court on 2nd amendment issues. The clarification of the opinions of Madison for exsample in the FP hold as much weight and more than subsequent opinions of great minds or judicial post holders.
And I didnt use the word intentions. To them thay were concepts that were self evident, practical, devine, the right to keep and bear arms to repel tyrants foreign and domestic. Histoy itself lends weight.

Except the opinions of the US supreme court have binding legal value. The opinions of the founders do not.
What concepts are you talking about? The right to bear arms? What does that mean? How do you know that the right to bear arms extends to guns? It's because the US Supreme Court interprets it that way. The constitution was intentionally written to be vague in order to adapt to the times.

The meaning of "arms" and the right to bear are very clear. The 2nd is arguably the least vague exspecaily with its caveat "shall not be infringed".
Considering it was a founder that wrote the words the Supreme Court is bound to work within the framework of these words. The court grants me nothing here. The same men that gave us the constitution gave us the Supreme Court and with much more apprehension about it protecting liberty than the citizens with arms.

Really? Then tell me precisely what the constitutions says an arm is and what the founders considered an arm.
If the founders wanted you to have a gun or any specific arm, they would have said so! They wrote the 2nd Amendment vaguely to adapt to changing times. Do you really think the founders intentions allow you to own a fighter jet, a bomber or an aircraft carrier?
The Supreme court interprets the 2nd amendment to include guns, because the founders did not-The founders specified nothing.

This is a nation of laws, not of intentions. THe founders are not a religious entity to use their will as absolute gospel. If they wanted their intentions to be law, they would have written their intentions expressly, instead of vaguely.

The Bill of Rights is Law and Law that even the SC is subject to in regards to the 2nd that we are arguing here. The BORs is the supreme law of the land all others are ultimately subordinate. SC opinions can be overturned, reversed and revisited. But the BOR stands like a wall from behind which the people can defend themselves against oligarchs, tyrants and the blowings of political and intellectual winds.

You can't even define what the bill of rights means, let alone describe how its a wall.
What does freedom of speech mean?What does Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion mean? What does an arm mean in the constitution?
If you answer, that is your interpretation, not what is actually in the constitution. The job of the USSC is to interpret the constitution. I don't give a crap what the founders wanted, its what they implemented that has value.

Rather you have been brainwashed into beliving that the 2nd is subject to current values rather than long standing and historicaly established truth.
Infinged means restricting the peoples ability to make war with its own government if necessary. Only tyrants have a problem with that.

Nonsense is defined in the eye of the beholder. You are entitled to your opinion, certainly, but it is just that. It has no more weight and is no more "correct" than anybody else's. That's what blows me away about the collectivist liberal mindset. I realize your leader is expanding the last administration's march on our individual liberties by trying to shut down all desenting voices but can you honestly say that's likely to lead to a better country? If the founders had intended a hard document that cannot be modified or interpreted, they would have written it that way, with no alternative meanings possible. They also wouldn't have created a branch for the sole purpose of interpreting the constitution. I maintain that the founders intentions are not relevant. What they actually put on paper is what is. Especially when the founders weren't a cohesive unit in agreement and much of the constitution was compromised just to get it passed.

And they certainly didnt create the Court for the sole purpose of interpreting the constitution. The Bill of Rights does not start out buy saying that these rights were subject to the interpretation of the SC! On the contrary.
I maintain the relevance and that relevance is reflected in the Bill of Rights.
What is is that free people will always posses arms, by the 2nd, the SC be dammed.

When did the USSC rule against gun ownership? The case that those who deny the individual right often cite is UNITED STATES v. MILLER, 307 U.S. 174 (1939). The USSC ruled that in order for guns to be protected they must be of military use. People like yourself are so misinformed that they don't realize that they case they cite actually defeats their argument.

Miller ruled that people have no intrinsic right to own guns. It ruled that the 2nd was in regard to militias.
