I do miss Peter Lindgren and Martin Lopez but honestly Fredrik Akkenson and Martin Axernot have made their place in Opeth and they are just mind blowing musicians and really fit with the Opeth sound ! I love Opeth man what a band :D

@immortalsoloist totally! its just a change of pace which takes some getting used to, Fred is a faster guitarist whos getting used to the finger picking and softer sound but still brings a sweet dynamic to the band (check Heir Apparent solo, damn...) and Axe is a beast on drums whos gotta do the same thing (learn slower parts) but they're both great musicians who've solidified themselves with the band in my eyes

I noticed no heads on top of the cabinets. Easy enough to notice. Does anyone know what Mikael uses in line with the GT 6 floor pedal?? It has to be some sort of rack piece, or...does he go directly into the cabinets? Probalby rack mount stuff...Just wondering if anyone knew?

He uses a Laney GH100L (he actually has two; one is a spare). It's a tube amp but only has one channel, and he keeps the gain all the way down. All of the drive comes from the Boss. There's a video in which their guitar tech explained this but I can't find it.

Yeah, his main amp nowdays is a GH100l running into two laney straigth cabinets (the bottom one miced) but he has also used the VH100L before, and i've even seen him using a marshall a couple of times - most likely a JVM like Fredrik uses. The whole point of Mike's gear is it simplicity and god damn pure sound - i have a GT-8 myself and i love it. Btw, be sure to experience Opeth live - i'ts epic.
