Thanks for the video, I totally know how to play it now. I don't know why, but even though I love this song I never learned to play it. I think it just sounds really hard and intimidating (and I'm not nearly as good a player as you) so I didn't bother with it. It SOUNDS hard, but it's actually pretty damn simple. With open G and the capo it's actually ridiculously easy as long as you can keep that rhythm up.
@sciencekiller7689 No, I generally just ignore the low E string when I'm in open G. I usually don't even bother to tune it down to D, I just don't strum it.
My friend, it's called open G Sevastopol (or sebastapol) tuning with a voicing of 5-1-5-1-3-5 or D-G-D-G-B-D. Vestapol, on the other hand is the E tuning style and the like. Voicing is: 1-5-1-3-5-1 or E-B-E-G#-B-E.
Yes, we agree on that, you posted it, above. The purpose of my post was to demonstrate the variant, not the actual key and to expose the proper terms for these two tuning styles. I have a copy of Guitar Player from about 1990... Has Keith on the cover. Inside are about 110 possible guitar tunings. You can see that the 1-3-5 triad is the basic idea, no matter what order. George Harrison liked the D7 tuning. Used by John in For You Blue.
Man, you've got a great ear for picking out the key and the capo placement. This is a song that Keith has described as on of the tougher ones to do because of the speed.
i would like to watch you playing Dance from Emotional Rescue album or maybe the cover they made for Just My Imagnation on Some Girls...i think they are both great tunes with some interesting gutar fills i can´t figure at all...so maybe you could help me
