I think a really good Guitarist is not someone who plays as fast as possible or that difficult stuff. Its all about the feeling which a Musician puts into his songs, and for me there ´s no one else who plays with more passion and feel than Richie.
Its ridiculous when people call guitarists like slash, steve vai, stevie ray vaughn, ingwie malmsteen or who else are the best guitarists of all time. I cant agree cuz they are just famous for their fast shreddings and stuff like this. But if they got seriously knowledge of music they have to agree that RICHIE is the best, cuz he is not just a guitar player, he is more. He is a singer/songwriter and the soul of one of the most succesful rockbands in history.

well, you are right... he is not a guitar god, neither all the others you mentioned... they (as well as many others rockers) are extremely good... but none of them are gods... just good players. Personally, Satriani is much better... and still, you would also have to compare them with Paco de Lucia, etc. Anyway... I think I got your point.

I fell in love with his ability when I heard Dry County, which I believe is the last part of this compilation, although I have heard it played better. On the Keep the Faith album it's simply breath taking :O
Richie is the Total Package..he sings well, writes songs for Bon Jovi, himself and other artists..he's a musician in the purest sense..solos are just one part of his repertoire... The hotel California is considered one of the best solos ever. this guy turns out solos of that caliber with ease .I AM technically better him .but im not a fraction of the musician. i am not a big fan of his .but he is one of the best band players there is, and in that deserves to be in the top 20 guitar gods.
I respect your opinion, but really who gives a damn? Technical skill=hours spent practicing scales and patterns in your bedroom, anyone with a lot of spare time can do it and a lot of people are probably cleaner sweepers and alt-pickers than Vai. But Richie has so many things that can't be taught with charts and numbers, and that is soul.
And in my opinion he has tons more than most high-profile shredders. Plus he's one of the most creative and versatile rhythm players ever, which can't be said about the vast majority of people who just spend their days soloing.
NICE VIDEO may i say. includes his very awesome improvised and often extended solos to classics like always and keep the faith. dry county is one of my all time favs so glad u included it! i mite make a video of my own collection of clips, i have some dating back before the 90s too so keep ur eyes peeled :p

Sambora is a *very good* journeyman guitarist. A "guitar god" he is not.
"guitar god" = hendrix, vaughn, johnson, satriani, reinhardt, de lucia, vai, etc, etc, etc.

NICE VIDEO may i say. includes his very awesome improvised and often extended solos to classics like always and keep the faith. dry county is one of my all time favs so glad u included it! i mite make a video of my own collection of clips, i have some dating back before the 90s too so keep ur eyes peeled :p
