@rmdembroski I did the dogfight with a couple of friends in Apr 2009, and since I already experienced Gs in some other planes, I was able to get 6 Gs in that dogfight and both me and the instructor had the "black curtain" effect for some like 0.3/0.4 secs.
IT was an astonish experience, but, besides a little bit of scare (luckily afterwards), it was awesome overall. We pushed to our limit.
@costan1974 It's an amazing experience to be sure. I've now got about 15 hours of dual instruction under my belt, so I'd love to go back and give it a try now that I actually now how things work. Sounds like you had some fun! Thanks for watching!
@rmdembroski I have to admit I had almost 40h of flying Private Pilot License training (on poor man's C172), so I was aware of how things work, and I had some aerobatics on SF-260 here in Italy (over Como's Lake). We had a 3.5Gs then after a huge lunch.. It was really unconfortable. After that, I was pretty sure I can do anything without any stomach risk :)
When we did 6Gs on Aircombat, we run into a spin before, I did a nose down with a barrel roll in meanwhile, and after I got
@costan1974 enough airspeed, I pulled the yoke to my chest as fast and close as I can. Obviously I also yawed opposite to the spin, thus allowing a full recover in a very short time. Since I was almost 90 nose down, I almost disappeared on the opponent view, while the barrel roll allowed me to forward him. He tried to nose down, but was unable to sustain the Gs afterwards, and thus he left the roll and leaved to stationary flight (to avoid the stomach-ache), and I got his tail and ..
I did this in 1998 out of San Jose. I too got sick as a dog because I forgot to tightnen up my stomach, but it didn't stop me. Nothing like three out of six kills looking like the jolly green giant
Yeah - they take off and land the airplane but you basically do almost everything else - you can hear them say "I've got the airplane" when they specifically want to fly something.
It is intense! They say only about 10% of folks who fly with them get sick. I think next time, if I didn't eat so much, and maybe took some ginger pills or dramamine I'd be ok.
When he was getting sick he should have pulled some negative G's =D

@hurlingstar1 That would have been rough.
rmdembroski 8 months ago
How many G's are you allowed to pull,do u know?
hurlingstar1 8 months ago
@hurlingstar1 I'm pretty sure I remember one of us pulling about 4Gs. The planes they use are rated to +6/-3 Gs

I've taken all that stuff and still get sick. You held it longer than I would. Don't feel at all bad.
