@icanhazursoul89 It's a Rickenbacker. But I can't tell if it's a 4001 or 4003. Looks like a 4001, but I could be mistaken. All I know is it's in the Fireglow finish.
@1320Endgame Are you kidding me, man!? I'm poor as fuck! I'm a teenager with 20 dollars to his name! What I meant was "I need to get myself a Rickenbacker SOMEDAY". But I wish.
If you know Gamma Ray, you should know that Dirk Schläkter is a great bass player... With both pick and fingers. He usually plays the slow songs with fingers and the fast with pick, but I he can do the other way around if he just wants to.
@juampialarcon either that or youre just trying to play fast, people who play heavy metal usually play only a few notes over and over but really fast so you have to use a pick, and on songs with more melodies (iron maiden perhaps) its easier to use fingers to switch through the strings faster
@TheSpazzarro yep, check out his channel. i found his page like 2 or 3 weeks afterwards, it really sucked i wish i could've met him, one of those "this guy will influence my playing tremendously" type people. i place him with all the greats as a musician
One of the most intense drum intros... and one of the most under rated bass players. Is Ian Hill great by any means, no. But he brings it every time. Solid pocket player that doesn't stand out much over the shredding of KK and Glenn.
Yeah, I typically put out a bass intensive version of every collaboration I make because there are a cadre of my viewers that find it easier to learn a tune with the bass turned up.
It's also the perfect excuse to plug the collab video. This whole project was so awesome, to bad we never had a drummer to share it with.
I have a question regarding the chords. Are you playing a normal 5th chords and using the other fingers to mute other string or are you paly _(no5) or _/5+(no3)?
I have no idea what that notation you are using means, but it doesn't matter because they are normal fifth chords with the extra fingers muting the other strings. I do this so I can get a good attack without extra noise. I also use inverted fifth chords here and there.
Thanks, satch. Painkiller is a killer tune, and I am deeply honored that anyone would include me in a project to do it. This song is a monument to metal.
I hope you mean Death Metal covers of bands like Death, Obituary, Autopsy, and the early death metal era. I still want to see you play some Sadus (especially since DiGiorgio was in Sadus), and some of the more udnerrated thrash stuff, maybe some Dark Angel (preferrably The Burning of Sodom or Darkness Descends).
Death is the band I am referring to in this case. Trying to decide whether to make it a Death single tune or a double-header.
I have picked up some Sadus to listen to lately, and there are a couple of tunes I really dig that I might give a shot to one day, but it will be quite some time because I like to really feel a tune before I even try to play it.
I must suggest you play Scream Bloody Gore, for the Halloween value, and if it's a double header, add Lack of Comprehension. I'm just saying though for Sadus, Certain Death from their Chemical Exposure album is such an energy inducing experience.
It's the bassline I always hear when I hear that ending. I'm glad that somewhere in the universe this song exists with that bass on the finale, even if I was the guy to have to put it there.
This guy really used to kick ass. May his soul be playing in a better place. RIP

@ildur They're cool..

@juampialarcon
Why are finger guitarists cool while pick bass player is not? That doesn't follow any logic at all.

@ildur cuz if u play guitar with finger means u hav skill, but if u play bass with pick means u suck with ur fingers
