  • HERE TOO MANY SINGERS WERE NEEDED TO DO SOMETHING AS GOOD AS SHALAMAR ALMOST 30 YEARS AGO

  • GOOD COPY OF SHALAMAR, BUT THEY WERE ONLY THREE SINGERS

  • I love some LX! Their covers are great and the songs they do are so artistic!!

  • música, mas com uma versão nova e por sinal execelente.

  • Shalamar are the originals of this song

  • LOVE STORY~~ ♥♥ A girl asked a guy if he thought she was pretty and he said no. She asked him if he would want to be with her forever and he said no. She then asked him if she were to leave would he cry, and once again he replied with a no. She had heard enough. As she walked away, tears streaming down her face the boy grabbed her arm and said. You're not pretty you're beautiful. I dont want to be with you forever. I NEED to be with you forever. And I wouldnt cry if you walked away...I'd die

  • are you serious..? Im gonna go make a movie.. about a galaxy far far away.. i think I'll call it starwars.. Like seriously?

  • This sort of thing is pathetic, they have added absolutely nothing to this classic and tried to take the credit for a great piece of songwriting and great era in pop. This was made by musicians not amateurs and anyone can get a song copied note for note. Harmony wise its weak, the original had magic that lifts the spirits, this has none of those qualities. I bet Shalamar were in and out of the studio in a day whereas this prob took months to get 'right'. Get yer own bleedin' song you lazy gits.

  • @maccagrabme actually this song and the video - which i'm in - was recorded all in the same week. it was a rush job as they were asked to promote Children In Need with this and didn't have alot of time to do it in. they were all ready to start promo on one of their own songs but postponed it. for what it is I think it's a pretty decent cover. it's a fun song, it's what the 80's were about. Shalamar were hardly Lennon & McCartney in terms of songwriters.

  • @stepupuk Well what you probably don't realise is that they just used the multitrack recordings or got professional musicians in to copy the music. As for the video, it could be done in 1 day, nothing special at all. What did Liberty X actually add of any value here? As for the comparison to Lennon & McCartney, thats a bit rich when discussing Liberty X. Technically Shalamar's music is far advanced to anything the Beatles did but not knocking the Beatles for their contribution to music.

  • @stepupuk Apologies for stressing a point but I'd appreciate it if you could tell me what you think Liberty X have actually contributed to this classic song? Personally I think they should have either changed the song in some way or left it alone. A good example of changing a song and making it your own is Paul Young Wherever I lay my hat but this cover is the most lazy example I have ever heard. Even Crazy Frog made Axel F into something different, ok crap but effort made.

  • 0:22 that lady has some strong eye liner, would any of you agree?

  • Michelle Heaton is hot!

  • there so hot man .. wish they were still around

  • thye sure dance like jeffery daniels i must say hahahahahahahaha garbage!

  • Awesome, can't stop listening! :D

  • this video suckes

  • shalimar own this wtf! any person who says this is better than shalimar needs shooting!

  • this is awful, ruined a classic

  • Not a bad remake. Now y would someone come out with a remake like this song. for a few reasons, 1/sure- make ez-doh, 2/ artists werent creative enough or couldnt think up a good enough trak to make a hit of it, 3/ A brilliant song to choose. And remember, shalimar did it naturally, with no midi or sequencing. Nice vocals Liberty X!

  • @Jimlabra I think that it is the brilliant song :) I don't see any point to add any "modern" gimmicks into song to bring it more up to date like so many DJ/producer/composers do today to varying success.

  • I don't think so!!!

  • the original is a hundred times better, this version is hurting my ears

  • I didn't expect it, but they sounded really good! Of course one sounds like howard hewitt, but they were really good. It helps also to have 3 attractive women in the group. And that white guy leading sounded soulful. And i have never heard of this group til today. Nice sound.

  • Swear to god one of these guys looks like Shawn William Scott

  • eh it wasn't that bad you guys cmon leave them alone. yeah it is a great song by Shalamar and why not remake a song like theirs...everyone has the right to enjoy their favorite song and remake it. however; it really wasn't an original remake it sounded soo alike as the shalamar version. was kinda expecting a little more but eh it was okay.. i agree with mixedbreed19...make the classic your own or it will just sound like really good karaoke...

  • u bitches ruined this lmao!!

  • The original, Shalamar, version is, of course, superior, and I'm by no means a fan of Liberty X - but I think this is a decent cover.

  • these guys are ok but give credit where credit is due...to the originators...LONG LIVE SHALAMAR!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is a crap cover of a classic song, i am aware that 911 covered it in 96, but tht was a legend of a version

  • Really hate how artists/ groups use classic songs as a platform to launch their carriers. If they fail such as in this case they eventually bring down the song with them.

Some songs are best left alone and in there original state.

  • this song fucking rocks

  • musiquinha boa ne |||||||||

  • The opening chords sounds a lot like "If You Wanna Have Some Fun" by the Spice Girls (on Forever)

  • Hmmm I only remember Shalamar's version. Didn't even know Liberty X covered this. Who's the white dude?

  • Who's liberty x? Yes, it's a really good effort, but only because they copied the entire song lick for lick. At least they can do it.

  • The only good ways to do a remake is to either make it as close as possible to the original, or make it entirely your own.

  • Actually, it's better to just make it your own. Otherwise, ur just doing really good karaoke! If you make it too close to the original, you therefore kill all originality. People would just rather listen to the original, like I do on my Ipod each day. :)

  • I've never heard of this group before. Who's the black girl? She's pretty.

The choreography was a little weak, but pretty decent attempt. I LOVE Shalamar's version.

  • The description needs to point out that this is based on Shalamar's original song!

  • It's a cute version, that's all...they know a classic when they hear one anyway...

  • Ooof! Kevin Simm is FINE!

  • They all look embarrassed. I loved them at the peak of their powers but am not surprised they broke up shortly after this effort

  • wait a min, they broke up?

  • in 2007

  • The Shalamar's Version is the best !!!

  • :( bleah

  • 1. copy and paste

    2. send this to 2 other videos.

    3. hold your breath for 10 seconds

    4. press refresh twice

    3. LOOK AT YOUR BACKGROUND IT WILL BE FREAKY

  • @ least they know a classic when they hear one,I mean if your gonna cover something, cover a banger.

  • oh jees orginal is better this is alright but nah

  • which original is that?

  • shalamar love it so!! this ones okay but i love

    the shalamar version

  • Aight, oke thanks!!

  • Wot happend to them anyway?

  • good cover

  • shalamar ftw.

  • It's a Patrice Rushen 's song :-)

  • Uhm... thanks for the information. come to think of it, it sounds like something patrice rushen would do. thanks.

  • sorry homie it's a shalamar song homie

  • everybody know that it's shalamar song. I had that record when it came out. My point is that they did a great cover of it. People remake songs all the time. I actually thought this was pretty good. Howard's voice is difficult to emulate, but they did relatively good.

  • @jbulldogst I agree!!!! Very nice quality version!!! Simply COOL!!!

  • no, peterjacquesband, I meant that it is a patrice rushen produced song. She probably wrote it. It sounds like the music she does (like the song "forget me nots"). that is what i was saying.

  • Back then Michelle was total filth..

    'Oohoohoo' indeed, love.

  • just like michelle from destiny's child, they're both just there for background vocals and looks

  • yeah, I like High School Musical !!!

  • wow - they've absolutely butchered a classic - however those boys are still in fine form!!! salivation to the max!!!

  • they suck man !! Shalamar are soooo much beha at this version they carnt even dance 4 shit lol SHALAMAR SHOW THEM HOW TOO DO IT!!=P

  • you are so right..im sorry i even stumbled upon this video...lol

  • if your bored dnt listen too it

  • Kevin was always the best and my favourite.

  • im boredddddddddddddd

  • i agree - 2:25 is the best shot in the entire vid.

  • michelle and jessica are well fit (Y)

  • yea init (Y)

  • 2 25 is cute

  • i think michelle is so hot

    jessica is hot too

  • is it just me or does kelli look a lot like alexandra burke

  • i agree

  • god yeh x

  • omg ur right

  • yea she does,i agree, i never noticed before. by the way i love your youtube name lol, i agree with that aswell, hehe

  • i love this song !!! :)x

  • The beginning beats remind me of "If you Wanna Have Some Fun" by the Spice Girls. [2]

  • yes, you´re right

  • Michelle is such a hottie, I would love to have some bedroom games with her.

  • make sure to take incriminating photos..

  • This is a old song from "Shalamar" but a very very good cover

  • Sexy :P

  • Love it! The beginning beats remind me of "If you Wanna Have Some Fun" by the Spice Girls.

  • It's nice, but it ain't Howard, Jeffrey and Jody.

  • yea almost as good though those boys are definatley no howard!!!

  • yip love the original... but this is a good rendition, awesome! :)

  • i love very much this song,

    c' liverty X

  • remember.....yes baby its hot

  • They did a good job on old classic by Shalamar. Wonder if Liberty X had much success with it? Still has that amazing dancing back beat and rhythm to it.

  • Yeh they did have sucess with this they were bein dropped by teir label but then they did this for children in need and released another album =)

  • very good song!!!

  • Hey Iowebaa,

Though you're entitled to your opinion.... I completely disagree with you that this song is lame. This song is a classic.

I think Liberty X didn't do it justice though.

This version doesn't have the soul, groove and flow of the original.

Shalamar was one the best R&B/Soul groups ever. They were and still under rated.

    Do your homework.....

  • Sans doute la meilleure reprise mais qui n'apporte rien de plus à l'originale.

  • They sound good to remake this classic!!!

  • all i can say is that i'm glad the real shalamar is making some money of the covers

  • love it

  • dude looks like David Beckham the soccer player

  • u are a sicko even u admit it freak

  • nowhere near the original but i'm pleasantly surprised. not a bad remake at all

  • He he.Oops.Sorry.But I love Shalimar in those days. But the production of this one is better.Sorry.

  • How do you recreate a Shalamar. That's like saying that Janet Jackson could recreate a Gladys Knight song!!!

  • this reminds me of Bill Bailey and Alan Davies on QI.. LOL!!!

  • Grat cover! Love them <3

  • *Great

  • indeed, this cover is ok!

  • This version is okay...but it's impossible to duplicate Howard Hewitt, Jody Watley, and Jeffrey Daniels?....

  • pffff

they all just cute in the video

when i heard : "let's make it a night to remember..."

    i was like "okay...."

    this shit is wack!

  • Why try to copy perfection? This sounds like nothing but an inferior version of the sublime original, but with less bounce, and less emphasis on the killer guitar lick intro. Everything sounds slightly softened.

The best cover versions don't attempt to recreate the original, but take the tune and give it a different twist - e.g. The Klaxons covering "It's not over yet"

  • i love this song

  • They are the band that has had the greatest cover though. Yess they copy songs but tehy always turned into hits.

  • Great cover!!

  • I loved them!!

  • dis version isnt that bad!

i like the original but this sounds gud too

    even if they have copied

    xxx

  • I also prefer the original by the legendary band from New York Shalamar. But c´mon what´s wrong with this one.Just get ready, tonight. Make this a night to remember.PARTY over here!....

  • it seems like "if you wanna have some fun" of the spice girls...........the same beat.

  • Essa musica eu dedico aos meus grandes amigos do You Tube!!!!

    Do brasil, JR. Baptista

  • je to super tedka to mamm odtud v mp3 ja odsud stahuju vite

  • What's the idea? They copied everything, the instrumentations, the chorus, everything. Did not add anything. Nothing new. Thank God it only lasted half of the original.

  • i love this song but one the original is the best and two im getting sick of modern bands resinging older songs which ere already fantastic. leave them be.

  • they both rule

  • they both rule

  • this is a shame!!!

    shalamar s original rules

  • This is like my favorite song ever made! love Liberty X, shame they have broken up, anyway, A night to remember, Listening to this song just lights my heart!

  • Love it

  • Jesus!,how fit is michelle!.

  • Ah, Kelli Young. That beautiful girls gorgeous dark skin always makes me think of warm liquid Chocolate, being poured slowly from a Gold jug across Silk sheets! If I could stand her in the corner of my room I wouldn't need the heating on all Winter! Yum, yum...

  • Beeeeehave!!!! LOL x

  • get ready tonight!!!! wooop woooop

  • cool vid but i like the original

  • Love this song!! Vocals mork together so well!!

  • They all got better looking as they got older! Love this song and the video, so fun

  • not as good as the original....but its children in need. to do a cover is the rule lol

  • S Club and Spice Girls have done Children in Need twice each, neither were covers, but it seems to be frequent

  • Nice! I like this group.

  • Kevin Simm is sooooooo gorgeous!!!

  • This version has a very studio made sound to it,and although it's no where as good as shalamar's origanal..I can still get down to it...very good looking group.

  • This version is like soda without the fizz

  • the version is good but shalamar is still the best

  • Music sounds great. The vocals...not so much. Not enough soul/funk like Shalamar. Good try, though.

  • c'est du disco

    on dirait les années 70

    je déteste le disco

  • cest pas du disco. cest vraiment de pop. je deteste ca moi

  • no offense but I think the 911 version is better because this one sounds flat from the beginning to the end.

  • good shit, where the get ready clip by ma$e

    GET TO BED

  • Kev is fit

  • original is always worth more then a copy

  • This ones good, but the Original one is soooo much better!

  • very nice remake but, I like the original version from shalamar better.

  • i like this song

  • They have good vocals and talent and all, however they just lack the magic of Shalamar. Still good though

  • sounds like Spice Girls If you wanna have some fun...

  • i like this song, but i like 911's version of the song is better than this one

  • It's a typical American style music video, no extra characteristc

  • Nice, but the original OWNS this one by far!

  • yep. cover version often sux.

  • Sounds too much like the original, dont like cover versions of classic songs

  • hate wat idoit fuck off kyi10 drop dead with 2007 or should i say the 90s...........

  • <3

    Love it.

  • sounds like the orginal...

  • This is not a bad cover, nices voices, is Liberty X still about??

  • i love this song thumbs up..

  • boring man

  • i hate this crap and shit

  • well done

  • LOVE IT!

  • Makes me want to go listen to my Shalamar's Greatest hits collection. I love that song so much!

  • AMEN!!!

  • I love this song ... i still play it in the clubs (just a fun song)

  • Song = Great

Vid = crap ;P Lmaoo They could of gone for somethign a little less tacky.

  • them girl r sexy not the black 1
