I really like him in x-men I can't imagine somebody else playing the role of Gambit, he's really talented and very very cute I think he did an excelent performance.

He did have an accent, just not the Cajun accent. I just feel people were expecting to get the same accent the cartoon version of Gambit had in the original X-Men cartoon, and while I would have loved a thick Cajun accent, I think Taylor did fine. I'd rather have him playing the part when he can actually act and is very handsome even if he didn't have the accent exactly right than have someone who can't act just because they could do an accent.

gambit isn't french, he's american, southern, cajun and Gambit in the movie had a cajun accent, not as strong as the cartoon (and I am grateful for that) but tamer, cajun accents aren't french accents, they throw some french words but that's it.

I agree with you, but I am a die hard Taylor Kitsch fan way before FNL and I have faith that he can pull the role off, you can sit back and relax. I'm thrilled that they didn't cast Channing Tatum who would have fucked the role up, but with Taylor NO worries, but Gambit is my fav in X-Men Its a tie between him and Storm but Gambit is a deep charrie it will challenge Taylor but I think he can handle it.

i hear ya... personally, i'm pretty sure he can play the part well (we'll have to see about the accent though, but that's minor). what i'm not sure about is if the writers an producer are actually gonna 1: keep Gambit Gambit, unlike how they jacked up Rogue's charactor; an 2: give the cajun enough screen time. in the previews it looks like he has a decent role in the story, but hopefully ther're not just playin it up to get more people in to see the movie... we shall see an i shall hope

It seems like we may have a case of the Edward Cullen casting calamity here. (X-men fans, don't jump to conclusions, I love both Twilight & X-men but I'm not comparing the two; only what happened when the casting was revealed). Few were willing to give Rob a chance when he was cast, but after a few clips were released, it wasn't long until he was considered the embodiment of Edward.

So, let's not judge Taylor until we've seen his work. I'm sure he'll do Gambit justice...and then some. ;-)
