  • I hear some Black Crowes in this.

  • Great tutorial! I LOVE Nick Drake, His music just goes straight to your heart. I just posted a video of my brother and I covering "Pink Moon". I'd love for you to check it out and tell me what you think. You can view it on my channel.

    Thanks,

    Faded Bloom

  • Thanks Mate - You helped me out alot here and I learn't both PINK MOON and PLACE to BE in less than 20 minutes after seeing your videos. I have Nicks PinkMoon album and know his songs off by heart almost - so it was quite easy to learn the guitar parts quickly ! Really appreciate it - and hope you keep Propogating His great music !

  • Aww you're not gonna sing?!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! Great job. Two questions:

    1) What kind of acoustic guitar are you playing? It looks beautiful.

    2) Would you mind if I posted a video of me covering this song? With a link to your video and a nod to learning the song from you of course :-)

  • @drewfncarter 1) it's a yamaha LA8, but note that I'm playing in an empty room with a wooden floor and one wooden wall. Makes for great sound

    2) no problem. This lesson my gift to the world use it as you wish

  • has to be one of the best tutorials on youtube...i don't know, every time i try watching tutorials for other songs i give up. thank you for explaining it straight forward and simply.

  • Excellent! You inspired me to pick up the guitar again.

  • I just got my first guitar (Ibanez EWC30) and learned this song first, from this tutorial. Very informative and well taught. I promised myself when I got the guitar that I'd learn this first and you made it easy for me. THANKS! Your "Place To Be" tutorial is spot on, also.

  • Thanks for the tutorial, nice and clear and Ive been playing ever ever since. It has brought me joy to play. However your vocal instruction is very quiet and I strained to hear what you explained, on this vid and the tuning vid.

Maybe Im going deaf in old age?

Guitar sounds nice and bright. Loved it...thanks again..will check out your others.

  • I've always wondered how this song was played. Thanks!

  • you are the man . very good skills ... i love playin nick drake... most unappreciated guitar player of all time. he is my favorite !

  • This definitely is a goal song for me. I want to be able to play this by the end of the year.

  • great lessons. thanks keep up the good work.

  • thanks man.

  • Really, what kind of guitar is it ?

  • peeerfect

  • Terrific tutorial. Much appreciated. With your help i not only learned how to tune to CGCFCE, but learned one of my favorite songs in one day.

    Thanks!

  • i totally agree

  • Cool. Well done.

  • Can I play this with just a barre chord?

Aka Barre-ing the 4th string and then playing the notes with my 3rd and 4th finger on the left hand?

I ask this cause I can reach that far lol. I play with a classical guitar so my finger stretch is a bit better than normal.

  • Great lesson. By the way, what kind of guitar is that? It looks and sounds gorgeous.

  • beautifully taught - you have a good style and you take people through slowly - THANK YOU SO MUCH

  • Fantastic sound in your guitar! And it looks to easy to play as well, looks like butter! :)

  • nice clear up close tutorial, thanks so much, its about time someone does it right, long live Nick
