  • QUESTION*

how do you make this torch with a bic lighter?

  • @808WizMarley you serious?

  • Why didn't you just do a color stack?

  • @Chargeglass He is one of the few listed apprentices of Bob Snodgrass... Ether bob taught him that way or he prefers doing it this one.. I do not know

  • @compman67 I dont know Bob but I do it this way too, its just my way, I feel like I have more control over things I suppose.

  • what kind of torch do you use?

  • I agree with mmaaxx1198, man i got a carlisle cc torch a few years ago and can't do as well as he is. i still need a foot pedal to do this. A buddy that got me into this moved back out to oregon.

  • What is everyone on here talking about? I spent a little over 3k and have a redmax, kiln, two oxygen concentrators, and piles of boro up to roof. And you don't need to take classes at all, just learn off the thousands of videos right here on youtube. But if you think you can make pipes from day one, YOU ARE SADLY MISTAKEN!!! This stuff takes years and hundreds of dollars of glass to get good at it. So figure 2k a year for 3 years of 2 hr days in front of the torch to be safe. GOOD LUCK!

  • @mmaaxx1198 You claim you cant make pipes from day one? HAH! My torch will be arriving soon, I'll make a pipe on my first day, you'll see. Maybe. Maybe just an homage to a pipe.

  • @bradkrit If you have had a lot of torch time with someone else's torch then yes you will. But if you think the glass is as easy to control as these guys make it look, its not. My cousin said all the same things to me until I put him on the torch and then he got quiet. But it is loads of fun learning so good luck!

  • @mmaaxx1198 Yeah I've never done anything with hot glass before, so it will look like crap. Maybe I'll keep all my crappy pieces in a row to see my progression as I learn. I'm addicted already without even starting!

  • @bradkrit You MUST feed this addiction! Hot glass is the only drug which is always good for you, 3rd degree burns is ODing.... painful yet OK.

  • honestly eugene is the capital of the world for this kind of trade. everyone knows someone who is a glassblower here. our mayor comes to the flameoff competitions here :-)

  • My dream is to become a glass artist, but its really hard in germany.you have to go to swiss or austria or america or czech. anywhere, but not in germany =/nice video btw. what is he working on ?

  • @IAmKingHomey He shows the pic of the finished product at the start of the video.

  • @compman67 oh alright. thanks.

  • @compman67 2 years and ill be finally set to start blowing CANT WAIT dope vids im subbin for sure

  • @compman67 was the color cane stretched for a thinner line?

  • @TSCO420 Yup.. I have a video of him stretching it

  • Some of the nicest glassworking torches and accessories are made in Germany if I'm not mistaken... check out all the stuff by Herbert Arnold. Are you unable to source other supplies like the raw glass?

  • @ugoslow No that's not the point, I just dont want to buy a set-up without having ever taken a lesson. And all the courses are either beadmaking courses by older ladies for older ladies, or they are hours way from where i live. And my experience with german glass artists is that they either don't reply to oyur mails at all or they tell you someone you should contact ut that person also never mails or calls you back.

  • @IAmKingHomey Wow.. This video is really starting to blow up.. You need to move to Eugene Oregon.. We have Eugene Glass School here .. Really, if you are not going to buy all the stuff and then learn, you have no choice but to go some place that sells bench time... or find an someone to apprentice for

  • @compman67 I live in Europe, so that's alot easier said than done. But thy anyway.

  • @IAmKingHomey Shit,, Just hitch hike lol. Just kidding..

  • whats the name of that song? and N I C E work by the way

  • I like inside out work, Its cleaner to incase the color in a stack and pull it using 7mm color rods. the colors let off fumes if not incased.

  • that is some patient work man! great video!-)

  • What! thats it?? i was so getting in to that and then you cut me off, seriouly guys great vid, thanks for sharing.

  • could pull the tube even further if you close the tube up, melt it all in real nice and then add another layer of clear on top of the tubing.

  • yeah he makes this tech look easy.

  • dudes got a lot of patience and skills laying those thick lines inside like that straight as they are. kudos, nice video!!!

  • What size tubing are you working with here? Looks like maybe 35mm medium wall?

  • I believe that is correct. I am the camera guy and video editor. But he has been one of my best friends for 22 years so I understand a lot of it.

  • Wow, great video. The music is really awesome too!
