  • I'm only two & a half years old & I love this music! I also love drinking massive amounts of alcohol & smoking crack when I'm not at work or driving of course. I also love Lil Wayne & Justin Beaver cuz they are so talented it makes me vomit hate & ignorance on youtube.

  • The piano intro is just too much. And if you have loved too well and lost, do please hide the cyanide while listening to Sinatra.

  • perfect lp

  • I think anyone can relate to this album, which is just one of the reasons it's so damn good. I've never had a lasting, meaningful relationship w/ a girl and yet I feel the same longing that Sinatra sings of even though I don't know what it's like to be truly heartbroken. Just a beautiful album that should really be mandatory listening for anyone who considers themself a fan of music.

  • Sinatra takes me far away. This is the most beautiful music in the world. I love you Frank

  • you can't top this....Mr Sinatra..you are so missed....

  • I thought roy orbison sung this?

  • @BusyB0X The song Roy Orbison song was called Only the Lonely but a completely different song. One of Roy's best, it was recorded I think in 1960 and was the first hit for him in Britain before Pretty Woman hit the charts..

  • @TheDADDYBAILEY Thank you

  • this is the best Sinatra i´ve ever heard:-) thank you so much for sharing this

  • Why would someone even dislike this?

  • @jujufacee

lol the apple symbol at 31 seconds

  • if my friends knew i listened to this they wouldnt understand, all they listen to is lil wayne and all that materialistic wave of music

  • Sinatra is one of the greatest singers. Have you every heard him sing anything off key!!! This song is one of my favorites. Live on Sinatra with your music!!!!!

  • I'm in my freakin' mother catching wireless on my notebook.. don't ask how I got it lol... just listen this guy.. he's amazing

  • im 18 and i listen to him and WHATTT !!???

  • So beautiful. Sinatra you'll always bring me to a better place.

  • Ava broke his heart but gave us some of the most touching music ever recorded!!

  • I love these old songs. They are proper musicians, with naturally beautiful voices.

  • CSODÁS ,ÉJT KÍVÁNOK ))))))))))))))

  • i got bored

  • Beautiful.

  • from my favaourite Sinatra's album: Only the lonely

  • It just doesn't get any better than this...One of the best albums he ever recorded..

    Just a fantastic sound track...timeless...amazing

  • Sinatra forever ♥

  • Omg I didn't listen to this era of music but after I heard this song I love it!!

  • @TheLivvy4life I love these songs also.I have the LP shown at the start of this song, it is great.

  • No need to be blasphemous.

  • fuck you lord for killing the best thing about this world

  • bring the delorean doc brown I know WHEN i'm going next the 1930's

  • I love how they don't need some sort of editing room to change how good thier voices sound they just need an audience and a microphone

  • God bless this era, and genre of music, I dont care how old you are, this is the true beauty of music that goes unheard during this era, of mainstream nonsense we hear today, this is MUSIC!

  • I'm only 18, my parents are telling me to search all these songs. I love old songs anyway. Frank sinatra, Bing crosby, Dean martin, these are my role models. These are people to be respected and loved. Gene kelly, Fred astaire, these are people to be respected and loved aswell.

  • @AndrewMac115 your parents are doing you a HUGE favor. any age can benefit from following this era, these tracks were all cut at one time, by great artists all in the same room at the same time, a lost art. these sounds may never come again, no faking or pro tools or autotune. good for you to have an open mind and good ear. tell your friends and keep exploring

  • @MrByaeger But that's the point, I listened to these songs anyway. I detest the music of my generation. Can't spell crap without rap.

  • @AndrewMac115 well then i hope you move to my neighborhood so you can drive by cranking some Frank instead of Lil' Wayne! Try checking out a guy named Jimmy Scott, might like him too.

  • @AndrewMac115 wish I could found people like you around where I am...I don't know a single person around my age who appreciates Frank Sinatra.

  • @AndrewMac115 dont forget ginger rogers!

  • @AndrewMac115 once more same shit so fucking what if you like frank and ur 18 it doesnt mean ur awesome or something you're just ok people who listen to bieber they got serious problems we dont thats all . how do i know im 18 too but that shit doesnt mean anything

  • @madmenism94 He never said he was awesome or "something". He is just stating his age. Stop acting like it is such a problem.

  • The style of the 1800s

The music of the 40s, 50s and 60s

The Technology and social views of our time

That is my view of a perfect world

  • @UFOJockey my thoughts exactly plus tv of the 90's

  • @UFOJockey Hope they invent the time machine in my life time ...

  • @UFOJockey And of course we could do without the starving millions that the technology and social views don't seem able to help.

  • @UFOJockey:

    Well said! Bravo!

  • @UFOJockey I like everything but the social views. Social views have always sucked in one way or another.

  • Perfection!!!

  • SINATRA! Wow! One of greatest ballads/torch songs that Frank Sinatra ever sang! Recorded in 1958, when Frank's voice was mellow and the loveliest in my view!

"Only The Lonely" was also one of Frank's best albums, and I bought the original in 1958 and listened to it then! It is a haunting song about love lost, and the "lonely feelings and heartache" after such an event!

I'd rather think of it as simply a "song masterpiece" by the lyricists and sung beautifully by Frank!! A timeless classic!!!

  • @TheMusicguy68 Sinatra' s talent as a singer of "torch songs" or "saloon songs" as he called them (love songs of unrequited or lost love) has never been equaled!

  • Whew, thanks for clarifying you take no credit for the photos. We might have thought you took them. Hey, did you write the song? Please let us know, it's confusing.

  • Frank just makes you immagine a simpler time, a world of simplicity and warmpth.

  • @mrtundra45 Warmpth.

  • Bliss ,the king is dead DC xx

  • every time i hear a song for sinatra i wish i was living in his time

    R.I.P frank

  • Great job!!! I love Sinatra!!! One of the best there ever was or will be! -3 4ever!

  • Beautiful!

It saddened me to see the tombstone at the end. :(

Kinda hard for me to believe he's dead. But then again, legends never die ;)

  • This music has no age. It may be old, but for me, its a new thing to me to hear such beautifull and romantic music, so inspiring.

  • yeah, lol, i fucking not get it, what is this im 10y old n listenin Sinatra, who the fuck cares it? it wont make you special...

  • who cares about the fucking age?! stop to say "i´m nine years old and i jerk off listening to this". Just enjoy the masterpiece, people!

  • The last pic is incorrect... It should be "the best has come... And gone" RIP frank :(

  • Depressing tripe ;-(

stangers in the night much better

  • this song is my biography....

  • What's with da hat? He's inside!?

  • i love this song!! (not many 13 year olds kno Frank)

  • Fuck you @theartofdoom. He is simply implying that all music talks about now is getting High and getting bitches. Now shut your mouth and go bother someone else.

  • @JackOfZeroTrades Such ignorance, to state a thing like that! It is true that the current wave of neo-hip hop focuses its lyrics mainly on said topics, although if you somehow draw the conclusion that all modern music is this way, you must be either retarded or haven't given new music a chance. You have most likely been listening to mainstream music radio stations or caught a glimse of MTV, and then decided to base your opinion on that.

Would like me to point you to some nice modern music?

  • Inarguably, the finest American song ever written and recorded features Nat King Cole singing Stardust.

Francis Albert was one of a special kind. His phrasing, intonation and musicianship remains nonpareil.

  • Frank Sinatra just had that special something, cant say exactly what it is but everyone can feel like they relate, he had like a universal charm.

  • @mrtundra45 I agree. This song is just quite touching.

  • I'm 14 and I listen to screamo and hardcore music A LOT, but I listen to Frank Sinatra just as much, if not more. :)

  • Wasn't this recorded about the time he was tangling with Ava Gardener - the one woman ho couldn't posses? This song, in fact the whole albumn is a total masterpiece.

  • @sfden50 Yep. This iconic song is from one of the first "theme" albums. I think she inspired this and most of the songs on the album. Ava broke his heart; maybe they broke one another's hearts. But agreed--a masterpiece.

  • Frank Sinatra turned into yet another High School trend to listen too. First the beatles now this.

  • Could anyone else sing this song like Frank . the simple answer is no, not in a million years.

  • well im 13 and i cant get enough of frank sinatra! hes my idol! this is the first time ive heard this song and i think its desperately beautiful. although i think his 'watertown' lp deserves so much more recognition! im still a bit of a newcomer but i think that the 50's and especially the late 60's were best for his ballads and really serious material-like this. thanks for posting!

  • if you find love, hang on to each caress

  • Love playing this music on Christmas don't ask why lol

  • 14 here, this is beautiful, made for jesus.

  • i found myself half way in sitting there with my eyes closed in love with this song. :) beautiful...and sad.

  • Just checkin' out some of your videos and saying hello!

  • Just checkin' out some of your videos and saying hello!

  • @MrFashionized Well there are quite a few stories about him behaving like, for a lack of a better term, an asshole. But that doesn't mean he was a bad person, though.

  • @thinkorthwim69 if you can't say something positive, just shut the hell up... this man had more talent in a single hair, than you have in all of your body.

  • @thinkorthwim69 please piss off.

  • From the bottom of my heart...thank you.

  • frank jr. said you need a prescription to listen to this album.I love this Cahn-vanHeusen album title track.

  • THIS IS THE TITLE SONG FROM FRANK'S ALBUM BY THE SAME NAME- "ONLY THE LONELY." I HAVE BEEN A SINATRA FAN FOR ALMOST FIFTY YEARS! THIS WAS ONE OF FRANK'S MASTERFUL SONGS!

ALSO ON THE ALBUM, "WHAT'S NEW" -ANOTHER POETIC MASTERPIECE! GOD BLESS YOU FRANK! THANKS FOR DECADES OF GREAT MUSIC!

  • @jefflevin7 i've been a fan for only about 4 months, i can honestly say he was a tremendous artist, and this is my, if not this then blue moon, favorite songs of his.

  • I'm 16 and I appreciate the beauty in this...this is music.

  • @ALLIED7621 me too...i'm 18 :) wonderful music

  • mamarijj cool

  • The album "Only the Lonely" is one of his best. The most beautiful, sad music.

  • I must confess for many years I never cared for this song. I thought it was contrived and phony. I thought it was just a "throw away tune" by Sammy Cahn & Van Husen. The music score is not available anywhere. Not even the publisher in L.A. carries it. I do have the karoake version which I sing all the time. I have grown to love this song over the last three years. Now, if I could only locate a chart for the tune.

  • 'Only the Lonely,' 'No One Cares' and 'Where Are You' are at least 3 albums Dad should buy for the 14 yr. old writing about another Sinatra song. He's a fan and I congratulate him on his ability to relate to art that is truly moving. Frank was essentially an actor and he treated ballads like short stories which he interpreted with dramatic and musical integrity. He was the great poet of the last century.

  • @MrRa77oR Get a grip, dude.

  • @MrRa77oR Amen to that.

  • @MrRa77oR Agreed.

  • @MrRa77oR What the fuck is with this comment. Women were not all bitches? Are you implying that now they are? What the hell is wrong with you, you chauvinistic fuck?

  • @Sp0ngeb0bM0n I disagree. MrRa77oR is totally right..

  • @Sp0ngeb0bM0n I don't understand why people are hating on this person? Then again I've been drinking but please, explain.

  • @Sp0ngeb0bM0n I don't understand why people are hating on this person? Then again I've been drinking but please, explain.

  • @Sp0ngeb0bM0n I don't understand why people are hating on this person? Then again I've been drinking but please, explain.

  • @halomanalden What does this mean"hating on this person",i only know old fashioned language,i've been drinking also but i still dont know.Just enjoy the music.

  • @MrRa77oR

    This man is completely correct.

  • could do w/o the idiot mac ad

  • Classy song. No, it ain't the Roy Orbison song.

  • Classy classy man! He has been my favorite singer since I was about 3.. I'm 17 now.

  • Sem palavras...

  • This song although beautiful is absolutely devastating. Frank Sinatra could rip your heart out especially if you lived through the lyrics.

  • A perfect opening to one of the greatest recordings of all time--I'd never heard this song prior to getting the CD, but it is remarkably beautiful and poignant and of course magnificently sung by Sinatra.

  • 5 people are lonely

  • i'm freaking 16 years old and i absolutely love him, literally all of his songs. i wish i would have been there.

  • HE IS VERY VERY GOOB I LOVE MY ARELI

  • I have no idea why im so attracted to music from the 30's and 40's and im fairly young... but i love this...

  • Now this is what a REAL MAN sounds like ladys! not that whiney music from todays so called artist.

  • Definitely one of the greatest Sinatra songs of all time.

  • 4 people are deaf. -_-

  • this old stuff sounds refreshing by todays very low standards.

  • this old stuff sounds refreshing by todays very low standards.

  • Arranged and sung so beautifully and heartbreakingly. I think one of the best ever recorded.

  • FRANK SINATRA SINGS FOR ONLY THE LONELY!!. I LOVE THAT TITLE..I CAN LISTEN TO THE ALBUM AND FEEL THAT FRANK IS SINGING IT JUST FOR ME. BOTH SINATRA'S AND NELSON RIDDLES FAVOURITE ALBUM THEY WORKED ON.

  • i miss you, my noemi:(

  • how i wish he'd be still alive

  • @Lester1Beck Are you speaking about Frank Sinatra? Because he had no hand in JFK being whacked.

  • OBAMA RULES

  • @silverbluejc NObama

  • Lord Francis, the phrasing, the breath-control, the flow. The Man. This is Mr. Sinatra's most minor-key tune. Around 1960 only Tony Bennett, of his rough peers, could have hoped to sing it.

  • There's no one like you.

    RIP frank.

  • Jimmy Van Heusen is up there w/ Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael etc. as the best non-Jewish composer of the "Great American Songbook"

  • Too bad he was a commie.

  • @stopglobalswarming Too bad you're a gay liberal...

  • @calif562 You wish, nigger! STOP GLOBAL SWARMING!

  • @calif562 You wish, bitch!

  • @stopglobalswarming you are one negative person, and a very angry one I might add.Tell me why are you here? What is your purpose? What about FRANK.Do you have anything to say about the beautiful music of Frank Sinatra or are you one of those people who look for the most unlikely place to spew your poison. Why don't you grow up and listen to the greatest singer ever.It just might calm you down and make you more human.Come on give it a try.Frank did not like bigotry.

  • @beautifulchrist12 I like the music a lot. Too bad he was a commie.

  • @stopglobalswarming - But...like...he wasn't. I don't remember any commies endorsing Nixon or Reagan...

  • @beautifulchrist12 I have liked this music for decades. I just think it was sad that Frank loved the black radicals and lent to the notion that jazz was "subversive".

  • @stopglobalswarming - Everyone in their right mind back then supported the black "radicals", the ones posturing for equal rights. They weren't radical by today's standards. If you were pals with a black guy, and you had a gig in Vegas, and you could walk in the front entrance and he was forced to go through the kitchen, you might become a bit sympathetic yourself. And yeah, jazz WAS subversive, it was slightly countercultural, that didn't make it Communist, just "food for thought"

  • @jimspy1001 Everybody in their right mind..... Like Patty Hearst? WTF?

  • @stopglobalswarming - The exception that proves the rule.

  • superb!

  • Popular music as Art!!

  • Mr. Sinatra took songs that others recorded and made them his own...no other singer came close to doing this...His passion, love, despair for Ava explodes throughtout this song and album. His music makes me feel like he did in such a great way like no one else. The best ever!!!!!

  • If this song does not make you weep, nothing will ! Bravo !

  • sinatra at the peak of his art-never expect'this on youtube!

  • Perhaps Sinatra's Magnum Opus. Certainly Cahn & Van Heusen's. I have it on karaoke, but never had the nerve to sing it in public - there's absolutely no rhythmic cues to come in on, you have to depend completely on the chord structure and the lengths of the holds. Nearly impossible. Plus the fact, what a downer!

  • @jimspy1001 Wow, where can i get a copy of the karaoke version?

  • @jimspy1001 - email me at jimspeiser@yahoo.com, this thing won't let me post a URL.

  • @jimspy1001 Wow, I would love to have this on Karaoke. It's one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums. I also love "Willow Weep For Me" along with "What's New" and "Blues In The Night". The "Only The Lonely" album is a great musical achievement in my opinion.

I do a singing show and sing "Luck Be A Lady", "My Kind Of Town", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Come Fly With Me", "I've Got The World On A String", "Love And Marriage", "One For My Baby" and several other Sinatra songs.

  • @jimspy1001 no cues just means you come in when you want! haha go where the music moves you, but don't forget to count the meter so you and the accompaniment come in together. Should be a cinch.

  • @outtaker - Trust me. It's not. I think part of the problem is that the karaoke version is not quite timed the same way as the original. Add that to the fact that the original was arranged with "singer's discretion" in mind to begin with, and you find yourself hanging in mid-air half the time and coming in late the other half.

I'm a professional Frank Sinatra tribute artist (retired), and this is the one song I won't attempt in public.

  • @jimspy1001 Well it's then a matter of word placement and strict knowledge of the rhythm and notes; kind-of like an recitative accompagnato in the opera form. You cue the music from setting the vocal rhythm with the consonants before the beat and releasing clearly for the orchestra when you finish the musical phrase. No music is impossible to master, I tell you. This singer's discretion marking is similar to a col canto/colla voce marking in opera, and is great for personal interpretation!

  • @outtaker - Imagine you've sung along to a recording of Caruso doing Vesti La Giubba for 20 years. You know it backwards and forwards, and can always come in exactly when Enrico does. You know how long the orchestra rests while he's doing the "laughing" part. Now you get a karaoke version and try it on your own...only you find that the orchestra doesn't rest for quite as long as on the original. You have to undo 20 years of familiarization, because YOU ARE FORCED TO FOLLOW THE ORCHESTRA!

  • @outtaker (contd) - It's even more difficult with this piece because there's a rest in practically every stanza. In the phrase, "the songs I know..." you have to time it so that the orchestra comes in exactly under "know." There IS no singer's discretion because we're talking about a recording! If it were live, it would be different, but recorded music doesn't listen to the singer! It doesn't care! Yes, I suppose I could master it...but out of respect for the original I'm won't bother.

  • @jimspy1001 oh? Rain? on your dapper forhead...

  • @jimspy1001 plus~ do you hear the enthusiast in the song? the prozac of lofting melody. That is only as bright as you will let it take you.

  • Comment removed

  • @jimspy1001 A ballad like this, sung rubato, requires a live band that follows the vocalist. Yes, karaoke would be very difficult.

  • @blueyedboymrdeath - Finally someone who knows what they're talking about. Thanks, and Happy New Year.

  • @jimspy1001 Mee too .Can you send me a copy please on my e-mail address?

  • @andruleader - I must confess to have forgotten what it is you're referring to?

  • @jimspy1001 About you previously saying that you have the karaoke version of Only the Lonely. And about me hoping you can send it on my e-mail address at andrei.cocoranu@yahoo.com

  • Great song! Like the most (all) of Frank Sinatra! <3

  • Its just Frank

  • My grandfather always listened to Mr. Sinatra; in fact, I think he's his favorite singer. I've been listening to different eras of music(mainly 50's jazz to prepare myself for university), and I'm thankful I remembered to listen to his man.

  • @fujiyoshi *to this man. Whoops.

  • Great tune Frank!
