  • Agreed. 1 on 1 bjj. More then 1 opponent stay up unless you have no choice

  • @spartan1171984 why the fuck would you go the the ground more than 1 on 1, you cant armbar 2 people o.o

  • jiu jitsu is the most effective 1v1 martial art and it has been proven, more so back in the day when ppl were masters of a single art rather then jack of all trades like today. the problem of brazilian jiu jitsu in a street fight is that these are rarely 1v1 fights, and the biggest mistake you can make when fighting more than 1 person is take the fight to the ground. unless youre fighting like 6 guys, youre gonna get a hiding anyways, might as well take one down and brake the first joint you can

  • dont let him stand up and slam up break his arm dude

  • he went for the triangle choke but couldn't get it, would've been nice if he did though

  • I'm a bigger guy so at about 30 seconds plus I would just stand up and pick the guy up with me and start slamming his head on the ground. That would get that arm bar to release! :)

  • @mediaboyz no your arm would have broken before you even though a that

  • @mediaboyz

Haha. You watch too much UFC and spend too little time actually learning what it is you're talking about.

  • @KaelinSaint

Really? I've done this in BJJ class -- didn't slam the guys head but it is possible!

  • @mediaboyz

Against someone with skill or a beginner? Standing up makes it easier to drive my hips through and break the arm. Plus sweeps come into play, transitions, etc. Do a proper escape. Stack, clear the head, shake the elbow out, etc.

  • @mediaboyz watch Royce Gracie vs Kimo, in the 3rd UFC (might be wrong but it was one of the first ones). Kimo was at least 2x heavier then Royce, and after a brutal fight he got caught like every other "bigger guy" such as yourself. The art of brazilian jiu jitsu is not about being big and strong, its about using leverage to make skill overcome power in every situation. sure being strong helps when you know the technique, but a brazilian jiu jistu fighter will beat a brawler 11 out of 10 times.

  • I think he locked it in wrong first time thats why he got slammed. second arm bar was nice though

  • Swaggg, we need a fucking medic lol

  • he was bashing him against the grass

i would break his neck for that

  • lol what a pussy aww stop dude stop lol fag. any of you fartards out there that are looking for fights and have never step foot in a gym let this be a warning there are bad ass mother fuckers out there that know what they are doing and dont judge just by looking classic mistake.

  • @CCrOreo your the 'grade 3 level' you tell me??

  • @CCrOreo now i see why your so defensive about bjj and blind to reality! whatever grade you are dont matter you probably hav your own gracie garage an everything lol they grade anyone as long as your paying them same with any martial art it all bout the money, you shud open your eyes an not be so singular minded

  • @CCrOreo didnt look like anyone was jumping in you mean not exactly a street fight mor like an after school arranged fight, bit of an idiot arnt you realy? you see if 1 of my friends was having a fight id jump in, hence the danger of jiujitsu! maybe your from a nice little place where fights are fair? maybe your just one of these idiots on youtube who never realy had a fight since they were in school? i live in the real world mate where anything goes an fights are dirty an friends back you up!

  • @CCrOreo universal excuse because its the truth. i love jiujitsu bjj and jjj. but the fact remains laying on the floor in a street fight is dangerous. in the gracie jiujitsu system there are 75 standing selfdefence technics which you must know for the black belt grade because of this fact.this in fact is the main difference between bjj an jjj in jjj you learn the self defence in lower grades an ground fighting at higher grades an vice versa in bjj

  • There were a thousand things he could have done. I personally would have scissor swept his legs, taken mount, went to bully, and had my fun :) Jiujitsu in a street fight is nice because there are no rules, unlike in NAGA or MMA. You can just use it to sweep them into mount, pin their arms, and then beat the shit out of them, I guarantee nobody would dare fuck with you after a beating like that.

  • @dRobotEarzb jiujitsu great to fight with but the no rules is right like when there friend runs up an stamps on your face or some shit like that.

  • @dRobotEarzb lucky for the kid in blue they were on grass. its is very difficult to apply jiu jitsu on pavement especially from guard.

  • @jiujitsuplayer13 yeah so if he were on pavement he would use jujitsu from the for position and then smash his face in. lucky for the kid with pants they weren't on pavement

  • @dRobotEarzb <------------ Watch out we got our selves a badass over here.

  • @dRobotEarzb I didnt know there ever where any rules in street fights ? and BJJ is part of MMA so u can do everything u mentioned + have fun in stand up

  • @dRobotEarzb I FUCKING LOVE THE SCISSOR SWEEP <3

  • @dRobotEarzb wat rank r u?

  • @dRobotEarzb what happends when his homie kicks the back of ur head n then u get robbed n kicked n then u die :)

  • Most street fights get broken up atleast most of the ones ive been in have. id like to think i wouldnt break his arm but after he hit me idk.

  • Would have broke the shit out of his arm for punching me in the face.

  • that was an alright arm bar should of broke that shit i would have

  • hrmmmm... not quite a "street fight" when there are 20 John McCarthy's to jump in and stop the fight "before it gets out of control" etc. Something to be aware of.

  • Don't fuck with a BJJ guy. Simple.

  • YES that guy had some skills his friends jumped right in once they heard em squeal in pain

  • lol i like how his pussy ass friends stepped in cuz his arm was gettin fucked up.. nobody was gonna help the other guy so why jump in? fags

  • Good street fight. Rare on youtube.

  • Hell Yeah!!! I agree. the kid used what he had learned and it payed off. the other guy is just lucky his friends were there to save his arm. lord knows he most likely wouldn't have done the same.

  • Tap, Snap, or take a nap!

  • HAHAHAH WOW, it's no different anywhere. The kid with all his friends can punch someone in the face as many times as he likes, but as soon as the kid with less friends puts him in an Armbar, WOAH EVERYBODY JUMP ON HIM!! HE MIGHT WIN!

  • that was nice but he should have held the back of his neck and brought it down to his chest so he couldn't swing then BOOM armbar

  • i would have broke his stuff

  • the difference between as street fighting and martial arts

    OSS

  • fuckin suburb kids, wait, im one of them

  • THAT KID NEEDS TO WATCH A BIT MORE UFC LOL

  • @1SugarRayRobinson1 No, he doesn't . UFC breeds boys who like to dry hump other boys. It's a proven fact.

  • @jorgekluney Me an ur mom dry humped.. then we wet humped... then we dry humped again. Then you were born nine months later... in other words... I'm your father.

  • @Patrickmjett Feel bad having to explain this for you.... but dry humping is what is done when there's no penetration.... hence "dry". So, in a gay attempt to insult you just came across as a moron. But mind you, a moron who gets his rocks off watching two men grapple each other.

  • why did they stop it? just cos he knew what he was doing?.silly kids

  • LMFAO THATS WHAT YOUU GET FOR MESSING WITH SOMEONE THAT KNOWS BJJ. if you think you can woop their ass, dont cry when they are about to break your arm. ;D

  • haha instead of tapping the guy is screaming AWW FUCK! lmfao learn how to tap and tap quick

  • @xXBeastfromdaEastXx Who taps in a street fight ? is there some sort of official reff that comes running out of a bush to call the fight.

  • @musicofmymind2 no but if theres a bunch of friends standing around and youre giving up then most likely they will break it up lol. like what pretty much happened.... smarts

  • White jacket has the upper hand the spectators shout : Pummel him and beat him and that,

When the tables turn: NO DOT BREAK HIS ARM..... Don`t think he was supposed to win :D

  • So glad the kid in Converse won that :D

  • He should have established his base and tired the guy out when he took him down and had the top position

  • LOL! sweet,

  • Snap crackle and pop,

  • and i don't think he would have took the guy down if it wasn't for his over drawn swing

  • that arm bar would not work in real life. even with no training the other hand could have gouge his eyes, or just bite a chunk of flesh out of his leg when he first grabbed it.

  • @SKKTatsu this is the spirit of krav maga. I believe there isn't one move in jiu-jitsu that can't be defended with eye gouging, biting, headbutting or any other 'dirty' move

  • @SKKTatsu and he could also stomp the other guy nuts with one knee. I've done it in a fight with a friend and he gave up jiu-jitsu and started krav maga

  • @RSA1RSA If he did traditional jujutsu he would do armbars with his arms and be standing while he is down

  • @SKKTatsu in our case he was trying to armbar me while both of us were on the ground just like the video. A good knee to the groin is perfect when the enemy is in the guard position

  • @RSA1RSA lol it is easier but you can get out of that without knee which is why this vid kinda made me sad in how it was used

  • @RSA1RSA Not if the guy knows what he's doing. If he has a tight guard then A) you aren't going to be able to knee him in the groin and B) he's going to roll you and break a few of your bones.

  • @RSA1RSA Got a buddy who does krav and when he came to our school he got tapped in about a minute. Krav is good if you don't get taken down but it in a ground battle BJJ is going to win out most of the time. And yes, we let him use krav techniques while he was sparring. Not to say krav isn't great, it's downright lethal (as was intended) in most circumstances, but you need to learn effective grappling to make sure you're protected no matter where the fight goes. He does BJJ now as well.

  • teehee scots

  • That was beast haha nice arm bar bro

  • why did you all separate them?....let the dude take the submission like a man

  • sub

    4

    sub

    100% sub back and FAST!!

  • the kid with the white jacket actually thought he was winning when he was on top

  • its awkward pulling an armbar with no cup on...

  • @hellrazor117 you do know you can put an armbar on the inside of your thigh, right?

  • @hellrazor117 You are doing the armbar wrong, you shouldn't be slamming the arm into your own crotch.

  • "AHHH FAUQ MEE AUMM!!!" LOLOL

  • notice how he went for a rear naked choke before he got turned over... then went to full guard, kept the other dudes head pressed against him to avoind getting punched, and then the armbar. u gotta love mma

  • @bendlor its not mma, there are no mixed martial arts being used here just brazilian jiujitsu...

  • Wow, someone about to win with arm bar so all friends dive in and help out. Only thing I'd be concerned with in that scenario was snapping the persons arm as fast as possible. I have no feelings for causing the other person pain in a real life scenario. I would be aiming to finish it off quickly. Broken limbs or choking would be easier for me

  • thats why trained mma fighters always win 1 on 1 street fights... untrained ppl dont even realize whats going on... they think " im on top and punchin him, im winnning...AAAAHHHHH.. OMG PLEASE STOP!" done it many times.

  • @raztis1 same here! hahaha

  • you gotta love when the kid needs his friend to pull the dude off....lol they were all screaming while he bashes his face in while hes on the ground the dude pulls a lovely arm bar and suddenly his pussbag friends need to help.....wish i could been there to knock those fags out while you break that douch welligtons arm.....kid your head up there ALLLLLL pussys

  • technique prevails man

  • I like how when someone does something that could be potentially less damaging than punching someone in the head while their head is on the ground... EVERYONE freaks out and runs in. lol Broken arm is BAD, but you can die from being punched in the head over and over with your head banging on the ground... =P STUPID people fighting for no reason... Fail

  • He could have triangle choked him there for a minute but instead he took the foot outside of the head. Oh well though whatever submission you're most comfortable with.

  • @BendTheIron ya i saw the opening for the triangle too....but hey i would have broken that kids arm.... for punching me in the face

  • @1988ZER Yeah man I feel like if I were in a street fight I don't know if I can use my jiu jitsu because it's not like we practice while getting punched in the face lol. Thankfully though, I don't plan to ever get in a fight. I do it for competition reasons.

  • @BendTheIron you said your in it for competion good for you because, if your in the sport to kick peoples ass your not respecting the sport.....you would be suprised how useful a guard could be in a streetfight.... Isolate the wrist and hes in your world.....but your right getting punched in the face is pretty distracting

  • NICE !!!

  • Someone lays punches to the face, don't hesitate, go ahead and snap that arm...

  • @FoxifiedNutjob

Yeah, and then the crowd will rush you like they did in this fight... guess how well your arm locks will work against a crowd of angry people surrounding you from every direction.

  • @FoxifiedNutjob o yea, if someone is trying to knock me out and hitting me in the face...that arm is on its way to the hospital...for sure...if you give no mercy, you should not expect any

  • @ThleTruth yeah true. When people realise that they are gonna get fucked up they suddenly expect mercy even if they started the fight.

  • @FoxifiedNutjob True. And aside from that, he slamed him pretty damn hard. Definitely a snap worthy offense.

  • ''Fuck off with your arm bar'' hahah fucking pussies. Shocked to see someone use brains in a fight

  • Notice how everyone easily jumped in and could have just stomped the winner to death if this had been a real assault instead of a dick measuring contest?

  • lol at the people who are afraid to hurt someone in a REAL fight...punching, kicking, bitting, eye gouging, nutshots, head and rib stomps, and weapons are allowed. But god forbid if you make someone pass out for a couple of seconds or break their arm. Just because you play nice doesnt mean they will. Im not gonna be that guy who gets broken ribs and/or a concussion just because I didnt wanna break an arm or choke the guy out in a fight. If you don't wanna get hurt, then dont start shit, period.

  • @bubig EXACTLY I 100% AGREE WITH YOU! who says that if you hold back that the other guy will hold back and take it easy on you, when your in a fight with somebody they are in it to not only hurt you, but to hurt you as much as possible and any way they can, this is the truth. If you go soft on someone whos hard, expect to get fucked up, never expect anyone to go easy on you and never go easy on others because they will take advantage of your weakness, many will have to learn this the hard way.

  • @bubig I did I ended up with one dead tooth, a chipped tooth, a bloody lip, etc, etc, some people you just gotta knock the fuck out sometimes, hile others you have to break them down completely, break their arm, leg, ankle, wrist, fingers, toes, etc, etc...and choke 'em out...just do what you gotta do, there is no dirty fighting in the street if you get jumped its because your not paying attention to your surroundings and the person your enemy associates with. Never let your guard down.

  • I have been watching fight vids for like an hour straight, and now I just want to go brawl with some kid.

  • standard arm bar for the win. bjj <3

  • Comment removed

  • this is fucking gay whoever copied this video

  • this is fucking gay whoever copied this video

  • never mind it was the guy in black shorts both times pulling the arm bar... my mistake

  • 0:18 guy in black shorts "ATTEMPTS" the arm bar, and no cared... At 0:34 white shirt guy does same arm bar and the crowd flips out... WEIRD

  • @155animallover I don't think YouTube will allow you to "like" your own post, though I can't say for sure because I've never tried. So nope, wasn't me. There seem to be at least 2 folks out there who favor evidence and logic over unsupported claims and name-calling...

  • NICE! the power of martial arts...

  • @Sheik06 The power of dry humping and the boys who love dry humping.

  • @jorgekluney

    you silly child

  • @grimwat I'm the silly child and you like watching barefoot men dry hump

  • @155animallover So because I'm in favor of defending oneself in a manner that is least likely to do the opponent harm, I end up with the title "Dr. Death"? You people are the ones sick in the head...

  • I literally saw this video a little bit ago on youtube. Why did you make a video of the video....

  • Btw it takes a long time to cause brain damage with a choke. 30 seconds at least. The guy should go limp after 5-10.

  • @Patrickmjett Actually it would take longer than that. It would take on the order of several minutes, provided that it is a properly applied blood choke and is not so forceful as to cause fractures of the C-spine or damage to the larynx or trachea. I've been arguing with this tool for a while now, and he'll say all kinds of things with nothing to back it up.

  • @GoleeMD (continued) "While your body is doing everything it can to survive, substances will be released into your blood stream in large amounts causing all sorts of things to happen. What if you have an undiagnosed medical condition that responds unfavorably to this surge of chemicals (electrical conduction defect in your heart, seizure disorder, etc.)?"

  • @GoleeMD (continued) "Or, you're one of the five percent of people who are walking around with a brain aneurysm and don't know it. Your blood pressure drops and then rebounds suddenly. The outcome might be more than just a really bad headache. Take home message: just tap. Because what you don't know about your health you don't want to discover while getting choked out on a sweaty gym mat." I am sure that Dr. Benjamin would agree that choking someone out on the street is highly dangerous!

  • @GoleeMD (Continued) "My common sense tells me that if I do not vigorously warn people and they get injured by their actions the next piece of mail that I receive will be a certified letter from Dewey, Cheatem & Howe attorneys at law (their new BFFs)." Benjamin knows that chokes are dangerous and lawsuits come with them too! IF you are so sure that chokes are so safe, why don't you provide your name as a qualified professional, and if someone dies then their families can come looking for you?

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 I completely agree with everything u said :) I don't know y ur bothering with this pompous ass? He's clearly a psycho and is in need of some therapy! I really enjoyed reading ur side of the discussion though ... u so kicked his bum bum. Take care hun.

  • @cutecanadianchick94 Well, he wasn't that difficult to spar with! He's all talk anyway! The only choking he's going to be doing is choking the bishop! Glad you enjoyed the show! Cheers!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 Maybe it seemed easy to you because you didn't actually do any sparring. You made claims that seemed medically and logically flimsy, so when I called you on it and repeatedly asked you to provide supporting evidence, all you did was dodge the question and fling insults. Finally you gave quotes from a doc who basically agreed with my initial assertion, but then gave some hypothetical speculation about how it COULD be dangerous in some very unlikely scenarios.

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 I'm all talk? How can you say that when I'm the one that gave facts and evidence to support my claim? That's more than just talk, which is more than I can say for you. You made claims that you cannot support with evidence, and then you proceeded with nothing more than personal attacks. Until you can provide evidence for your claim, there's no reason to continue this. If you and your little cheerleader want to think you won, I cant stop you. The facts say otherwise though.

  • @cutecanadianchick94 Not sure how he kicked my bum, unless you saw somewhere that he gave some evidence to support his claim. Call me crazy, but I don't think personal attacks and hypothetical speculation counts as evidence...

  • @GoleeMD Go and dip ur penis in hot chocolate u psycho pompous ass!

  • @cutecanadianchick94 Wow, nice rebuttal to my arguments. Your eloquence and logic really made me reconsider my views.

Oh, and that one's going to make my top 5 list of most ridiculous insults ever flung my way... Nice one!

  • @GoleeMD Top 5 list? I guess u must have had a lot of insults come ur way! I can see why!

  • @cutecanadianchick94 Yes, I get a lot of insults, mainly because I call people on their BS and support my claims with facts and logic. Often they often have no factual or logical basis for a rebuttal, so they instead resort to the childish practice of name-calling and other insults, which was clearly the case in this thread.

  • @cutecanadianchick94 Sounds like fun...

  • @cutecanadianchick94 whats wrong with dipping your penis in hot chocolate?

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 Dr. Benjamin is speaking in hypotheticals here, and while these factors COULD potentially work together to cause harm for an extremely unfortunate person, he doesn't give any real examples of this actually happening.

  • Ok so if I can get a choke on a guy and he's beating the shit out of me I shouldn't apply it? So what is the point if fighting? Yeah it's dangerous!! Punching is dangerous too. So we shouldn't fight but if forced into a fight I will use my Bjj and hold the choke til I smell shit. That's when you let go.

  • @155animallover Did you ever think that maybe that didn't make sense because YOU'RE the one not reading very well? Before you insult people, you should make sure you understand what they're saying. I was asking if he would know when to let go if his OPPONENT was too stubborn or prideful to tap. I assumed that he would, which goes against his earlier claim that a ref would need to be present to prevent the choke being held too long. My point was that a trained person will know when to release.

  • @GoleeMD In addition, Dr. Benjamin writes "The choke goes in, and it's deep. Your carotid arteries are compressed shut thus significantly reducing blood flow to the brain. The carotid sinus and vagus nerves are also compressed and stimulated to drop blood pressure to the body and heart rate. As luck would have it, you are left in the hands of a less-than-attentive or poorly educated referee, and they are slow to recognize your state of altered consciousness ...

  • @GoleeMD (continued) " ... Your heart rate and blood pressure continue to plummet. If you happen to be one of those uncommon and unfortunate souls that have a hypersensitive carotid sinus, it isn't going to be lack of blood flow to the brain that does you in. You should be concerned about that wildly irregular heart beat (arrhythmia)." Dr. Johnny Benjamin is a qualified physician who works as a MMA medical columnist and clearly shows the many dangers in using choking techniques.

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 Also, the syndrome he is referring to, carotid sinus hypersensitivity, which he says is uncommon, is a disease of the elderly and is unheard of in people under 50. Ok, so don't choke any old dudes. I'm sure Dr Benjamin would agree that the chances are much higher of inducing brain damage from punches (which you advocated in an earlier post, though now I can't get a straight answer from you about what you WOULD do in a real fight if you couldn't avoid one).

  • @GoleeMD "Now, quoting Dr. Benjamin is the closest you've come to being able to substantiate your claim, but you just shot yourself in the foot because he said EXACTLY what I've been saying this whole time!" Actually Benjamin has contradicted most of what you have claimed thus far my friend. According to this physician, chokes should only be done in MMA competitions with highly skilled and trained athletes with qualified referrees. What part have you missed here? Can you read or what?

  • @155animallover It's amazing how Mr. GoleeMD finds the time to do radiology work and spend so much time on Youtube? I don't know any physicians who do this and make such bizarre statements about using chokes in a street confrontation? I smell bullshit around here!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 Ever heard of vacation? ;)

I don't see how you can still think that what I'm saying is so bizarre. I've given you factual evidence and sound logic based on known human physiology to support my claim, in addition to the anecdotal evidence I've seen over the years. You claim that a properly applied choke may cause brain damage, so then I challenge you to prove it. Back up your claim with evidence and logic that is more valid than what I've given. Otherwise your talk is empty.

  • @155animallover Yeah, I got told a bunch of BS. I'm a radiologist, and part of my job is to diagnose "brain damage" due to trauma. I have seen all kinds of f'ed up stuff induced by punches and kicks, but NEVER a case of brain damage from a choke or from any other benign form of syncope. I've also never seen it reported anywhere. A properly applied choke is about the most humane way to definitively defend yourself and end the fight. What's sick is losing an eye from a punch, which I've seen.

  • @155animallover haha no more than I already had.

  • @155animallover haha no more than I already had.

  • @155animallover Haha Well no more than I already had.

  • You can do the armbar from either side...

  • Don't listen to any of these guys saying that it "wasn't safe" to do an armbar. It's a fight, not a tea party. If the other guy didn't want a broken arm he shouldn't been in a fight. If you would of triangled him he may of woke up and wanted to fight more. No one wants to fight with a broken arm.

  • @joshmckinney94 If the jiu-jitsu kid in the video applied a triangle choke "correctly" or any choke and his opponent lost consciousness and went to sleep, there is no guarantee he would wake up! You see, chokes are very dangerous and can even cause severe brain damage. I have never went to sleep from a choke yet and prey I never do because of such consequences. I have been caught in many chokes over my training career and tap as soon as I see stars. I really hope you never practice jiu-jitsu!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 I'm willing to bet any amount of money that there are a lot more people with brain damage from getting punched in the head than from being choked. The other kid shouldn't fight a jiu jitsu guy. and I do practice jiu jitsu a lot and I have been choked unconscious twice, once in a tournament and I woke up(with no brain damage) and won a different bracket of that tournament.

  • @joshmckinney94 Sounds like a bunch of baloney to me champ! Either you're a really bad jiu-jitsu practitioner or you are just too stupid to tap your opponent! I really hope you’re making this shit up because what you are saying is really sick pal! Good luck!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 Hahaha Well the pan am gold and two chicago open golds that are hanging above my bed say that I'm alright in jiu jitsu. I'm Josh Mckinney you can look it up if you want and you misspelled bologna, nice try though.

  • @joshmckinney94 Hey kid, don't blow your horn to me about the merit badges you earned in some little jiu-jitsu competition. That doesn't prove anything to me! I've been in Canadian national judo competitions and have had two amateur fights in my career. I participated in open judo and jiu-jitsu divisions. Remember, it all depends on who SHOWS UP to compete in the tournament! However, in a real street fight, there are NO trophies or metals! No one really wins in any street fight either! Cheers!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 I'm glad that you proved you have no idea what jiu jitsu is, considering 2011 pan ams was the largest jiu jitsu competition ever. You said absolutely nothing about winning any of your fights or competitions either. You also misspelled medals(when you're talking about the type of thing that you win you would spell it medal). It's also funny how you said "cheers" like you won the argument when in truth you said nothing that could even remotely be considered a rational thought.

  • @joshmckinney94 I guess the server was down and I could not reply to another one of your ridiculous and irrelevant comments. I really don't understand what you are trying to prove here? Is this a spelling contest or to talk about merit badges? I have won many awards in judo, jiu jitsu and shorin ryu karate competitions, but what does that really prove about anything? One time I even won gold when I defeated one opponent who decided to show up and compete in my weight division(under 78kgs). Wow!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 I didn't ask what you've won, you started this by saying you didn't think I did jiu jitsu. So I simply proved that I do. I still think you haven't proved anything about your underline point which is... wait what you've been saying has no point at all. cheers

  • @joshmckinney94 It's a real wonder how you have so much time to do jiu jitsu when you live on the Internet! I don't need to prove anything to you! You can believe whatever you want! This discussion began with your big mouth talking about how the kid should have messed up the other kid with a armlock and triangle choke. I just disagreed with your sick idea! Just to let you know, the guys that I train with, who are really great fighters, don't spend much time on a computer and blow their horn!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 Actually, as someone who is qualified to speak in this area, being both a doctor and a jiu-jitsu practitioner, I can tell you that if a choke is applied *correctly*, there is virtually NO risk of major injury. "Applied correctly" means with the pressure on the carotid arteries (not on the trachea), using just enough force to compress the arteries and induce unconsciousness, and letting go as soon as they're out. No reported deaths or strokes have occurred with this method.

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 Also, all the reported deaths from "choke holds" that I've found involved crushing of the windpipe, which takes 6x the force it takes to compress the carotids, or severe bruising and fractures, which requires tremendous force (much more than required to choke someone out). In theory, there is a risk of causing damage to the carotid (a dissection) that could cause a stroke, but no such cases have ever been reported with a properly applied jiujitsu/judo choke.

  • @GoleeMD So you're saying it is okay to choke someone out in a street fight? Let me tell you something, if someone passed out from a choke, he/she would fall unconscious and possibly hit the head which could easily cause brain damage. In addition, if someone were to pass out from a choke, he/she would sustain brain damage/nerve damage if left unconscious for too long! Shime-waza should be left in the dojo or in professional competions and should never be applied anywhere else! Bottom line!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 I think that your opposition to the use of chokes in a street fight is because you believe they have a deadly potential, right? You'd rather break someone's elbow or knee and give them mobility problems for life rather than render them unconscious for a few minutes because you think they might die or get brain damage? If someone passed out from a choke, you're holding them, right? So they wouldn't fall and get brain damage unless you drop them. (continued...)

  • @GoleeMD "You'd rather break someone's elbow or knee and give them mobility problems for life ..." Did I say that? Read much or what? Like I have addressed several times now to sick pricks like you who probably know nothing about submission techniques anyway ... using jiu jitsu locks, cranks, and chokes in any street confrontation would be the very last option! For example, If you decided to use a leg lock and maim your opponent for life, you can anticipate an aggrivated assault charge genius!

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 (continued...) True, they could sustain brain damage if you hold the choke too long, but we're talking on the order of minutes, not if you release once they're unconscious in 10-15 seconds. Once you release the choke, blood comes back to the brain. They may still be out for a bit, but there is no risk of brain damage. Have you heard the word "syncope"? It's the medical term for fainting. Basically a choke is inducing a fainting spell. (continued...)

  • @GoleeMD "True, they could sustain brain damage if you hold the choke too long, but we're talking on the order of minutes, not if you release once they're unconscious in 10-15 seconds." Sounds very safe and controlled to me IF there was a very qualified referree to judge when it is time to release a choke! LOL!
