i just love the fact that on YouTube you can pretty much watch a variety of material without having to go through various websites. i get a lot of "how to" tips, classic music videos, news on YouTube.  Its more entertaining that cable/satellite TV. :)

I have been on youtube since they posted pics of them loading boxes into there offices. i never had an intent to become famous.I just then, and now ,want to show people our skits.most of the things i post are from 15 years ago(Way before youtube).I'd just love for people to watch our 1995 amauter timetrip.

it opens up whole new worlds for people and better yet it just makes people happy :)

whether they are doing for the money or just doing it because they love it

either way they are overall very happy people and usually a joy to watch because they are just  so thankful for what they have and what they can share with the world, which is there content

.Youtube is Youtube. I had no idea what Youtube was originally, I've only been on Youtube for a couple of years. But I wouldn't like it if it was only about vlogs and more like facebook or myspace. I watch a lot of different kinds of videos on Youtube: vlogs, anime, videos of people drawing or creating art, tutorials,funnies, fan-made music videos, artist music videos, ETC!! Youtube is amazing! Youtube is a place to go to to watch ANY KIND of videos! And that is what I love about Youtube!

i agree the part that youtubers should do +videos. i always wanted to but i'm very shy. About charity at first i agreed with you that he was talking more about himself but he says something very important, that the people in the "spotlight" should talk + about donating money for charity to show good example to the people who watch them, it could help them 2 be +interested in those activities and make the world a better place

Well...I listen to both you and Swifty. I think you both have points in your favor. I only came to the YouTube community in 2010, so wasn't around in "The Good Old Days". I do not have first-hand knowledge of any changes to the community. I WILL say that it could be as simple as one's outlook. He makes a lot of sense. YouTube works like the world around us. Call me a Functionalist, but YouTubers who conduct business and YouTubers who socialize are what BOTH keep YouTube great. Without successful YouTube business men and women, more socialistic YouTubers wouldn't really have much of YouTube to socialize on. Without social YouTubers, YouTube would be more of a commercial website with music videos, Movie Trailers, etc; thus it loses the cherished quality we all love. They work in Unison.

make videos to make videos. talk to people to talk to people, but isnt it nice when someone actually supports you just being you. isnt it amazing to login and go wow i got featured or wow these people care.

what i am trying to 100% state is that the social networking aspect needs to remain n_n people need to interact, and the site is filled with artist ans musicians and comedians who DO NOT INTERACT. people who simply don't reply to people then tell them to go follow them on twitter and NEVER reply there either.

You are very intelligent. I thought I agreed with Swifty when I watched his video but now I've just watched yours I tend to agree with you a lot more.

Also I notice a lot of people get annoyed by the thought that people come on and just watch and not comment or make videos. I believe Youtube can be want you want it to be for you; whether that be a place where you communicate with others, somewhere to express your opinion or just to enjoy the videos when you have nothing else to do.

David, you hit the nail right on the head with this video. I do videos for the love of my art. I am a yarn artist and I lead my group members each week in sharing their love for yarn, art and creativity. If I make money by doing what I love, then that's awesome (that's gravy). But if I don't, oh well, I am still doing what I love and obviously others enjoy what I do on YT or I would not have over 650 subs. (Which BTW, I went from 194 to over 650 subs in less than 2 months). Great video :)

I liked this video more than Swifty's. He seemed to push a philosophy that if you're a top YouTuber and you don't donate to charity on a regular basis then you're a greedy heartless bastard that doesn't deserve a cent of what he makes. i think the YouTube community is alive and well. i do wish however that there were fewer people lurking around the site, not even commenting. i don’t mind active viewers, but how weird is it that there are probably hundreds of people watching this video and you will never ever know? being an active viewer helps out the videomaker so much. promotion + guidance on what the viewers like/dislike.

i used to just be a viewer who commented on other people's stuff. Now I make videos and comment back to people who comment on my stuff. Youtube is like an addiction, i love making videos whether its music videos, vlogs even gaming ones! Great video thumbs up!

I like youtube now : D I mean I like listening to bloggers and their interesting life and their points of view, but I also love funny and informative videos as well. How to do videos are very handy! I'm almost 100% commenter anyway, I like looking at videos rather than making them, that's how it is, but that doesn't mean I'm not part of the community : D Although what I express sometimes gets lost...but I always try to speak my mind : )

David, this was a great video... while... I really understood Swifty's point of view and I use my youtube money the exact same way he does.... I paid for a sandwich for my friend recently... and I'm the same way with liking people who have different opinions than me as you... also... my only real problem with RayWJ is his interaction with other youtubers... at events like VidCon... him being overly private and shady... not knowing how to well with people... and blocking when they support him.
