Uhmmm... It's so simple... I wonder if it had any taste except for sauce? Next time instead of water maybe use dashi? And add toppings? Green onion, sliced pork, aonori? You can add any toppings you like to make it taste really good! I like to add natto to give it nice texture and make it healthy. And tempura flour is bad! Use soft wheat flour. Regular flour is good too just don't mix too much.
Ah! And your name... テスのスキはTessLoveじゃない。Try maybe テス愛 it reads at least better than before.
Well it would be better if you would also include a recipe on how to make okonomiyaki sauce and tempura batter because I don't think that I can buy it in my country, at least not in my city for sure.
wee...nice song well okonomiyaki eh??its a simple dish yet it can be made into various style..hm..the sauce is the tonkastu sauce isn't it??hey i've made my own okonomiyaki sauce its nice it looks the fusion of the okonomiyaki sauce!!
Venezuela has a large Japanese immigrant population. Go to an area where lots of asian/japanese immigrants live and go to their markets/grocery stores and ask for Okonomiyaki sauce. If they don't have it, usually they can order it for you, or tell you where else to look.
If you can't find it there, you can buy it online.(Amazon has it.)
Because you only use a little sauce, it is worth buying online and paying for shipping. That bottle will last you a long time.
You can add anything you want to it. Most commonly Bacon or Pork is added. I made some the other day but instead of putting the egg ontop I mixed it in, added Bacon, been shoots, and saute'd some onion and mushrooms in butter before adding it. And I didn't have the time to search for some Okonomiyaki sauce so I used BBQ sauce as a substitute. Oh and japanese Mayo is as salty I used normal one as well. But the sweetnes adds up nicely against it.
American pancake tastes a lot better than these "Awe-come-vomit-yucky", no kidding~ If you went to Japan, I guarantee you will want your money back after the first bite. It tastes like a batch of slimy undercooked batter.
you can't compare pancakes. and yes, in the beginning they are not SO good, but they get better and better. now there's just saliva dripping from my mouth when i even think of okonomiyaki
thanks so much! I looked at other recipes online and they said to mix the flour with dashi soup, which I don't know what it is or where to find it... Your recipe is a lot easier!!
or you can call it a japanese muffin. it just doesn't make sense. do you say that chocolate is like butter but sweeter and more solid and typically brown?
no, because they're just far too different for that =)
I don't know where TessLove bought hers, but I bought it at a Japanese Supermarket called Mitsuwa in Saratoga, CA. .....I guess that didn't help much, huh...
actually, I like it with tempura dough but... how do i put this? I like it with homemade batter. You know, eggs, water, corn starch... not that it's bad! i mean... i'll shut up now...
Mmmmmm okonomiyaki... Oisii desu ne! You can also stir fry chopped char siu, other meats, mushrooms, shrimp etc. first in the pan before you pour the batter. That's the beauty of the dish - anything goes (almost). Oh and as Anothny Bourdain would say: "Goes good with beer." ;-)
Usually if you add in squid or prawns or crabmeat it is much more delicious. :D Try it! ^^ I learnt a different way of making em from my Japanese language teacher.

Okonomiyaki sauce smells and tastes a lot like A1 sauce or steak sauce mixed with ketchup. you can try that
