How do you tie off the end of the thread you were using for knotless netting? Loop it through a bead? It was great to see the technique, I'm excited to try it.
im confused...why doesn't anybody show knots and be more explanatory rather than just showing look what i made...UGH I NEED HELP LOL-i can't tie off my dreamcatcher at the end of the web?? and i used senew and the webbing you showed is done differently then the other vid i watched....im totally stressing out now.
@kickinbackinmychair I just made my first dream-catcher and all I did was start to bisect the next line, but instead of wrapping it, I just tied the end to where it would have wrapped had I wanted to keep going, and then cut off the excess. I did mine a little differently, I wrapped the hoop in dyed leather and used hemp twine for the webbing, and the hemp does a wonderful job of gripping itself if you bear down on the knot.
@kickinbackinmychair I verbally walk you and show you, step-by-step, through knotless netting in this video. Turn the volume up and listen to the steps of knotless netting starting at 1:10 and it will make sense. -Meg
I've known how to make Dream-catcher all my life. I have always made them the traditional way. However this was certainly an interesting and different way to make it. I am looking forward to seeing newer crafts.
I want to use this metal hoop that I own that was formerly the metal ring around an old globe. I want the metal of it to be visible on my dreamcatcher, so do I have to do the first step of wrapping it in twine for all the other steps to work? Or can I forgo it in the name of style?
@TiltingatWindmillz the rough surface of the wrapping helps anchor your web threads, so it might be hard to anchor them around a metal ring unless it's textured. Try it and see!
@heleneea You can use the metal crafting rings that can be found at most crafting stores. also, if you want a more natural based circle, you can use grapevine (soaked in water over night, form while wet then let dry) or even willow branches.
@heleneea I used the rings from my old dreamcatcher, it was the easiest way for me. If you don't have one on don't want to break it, then you could use wire for example. Search your attic and basement, there migth be a perfect ring waiting :)
I'm Navajo, and I just despise the idea of people taking something from my culture and turning it into something that is not meant for. Dream catchers aren't meant for interior design, they have a purpose. But on another note, you did well on yours. And yes, I do miss your videos.
I made one!

this is great, but might I suggest you don't use a white underground next time? It makes it difficult to see
