Also they would have authority over minerals,oil etc in the seabed. This is an International gov't that our congress cannot challenge. They would supercede any treaty we made with any nation. The Law of the Sea Treaty has passed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by a vote of 17-4. The measure will now be sent to the full Senate for ratification.

Article VI of the constitution: "all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land ".
