Although the recording hurts my ears (it seems as though someone turned the volume down in the quiet parts), this is truly the best, most empathic and authentic performance of Tourdion I've listened to on YouTube. Bravo!
Is it a national specification to write about the bad French pronounciation in a country where nobody speaks a foreign language? Would not be better to have a warm feeling because an English speaking ensemble perform an old French piece in Riga? Anyway I write it from Budapest, Hungary and travel to France for a month tomorrow....
@tribuletto that's a stereotype! there are frogs who are able to speak in english or german or spanish and don't forget there are more tha 70 dialects spoken in France + the languages like breton or alsacian among others... We, French, can't speak every languages of the world! ;)
@ImperatrixInfernalis you're welcome! I can't understand old french but I can understand the lyrics of this song, there are some "old fashioned" words used in the song tho.
It is (1530 French, that is), but the pronunciation is far from being perfect. Very nice performance, though. It's a drinking song. Here's the text (with modern spelling):
Quand je bois du vin clairet,
Ami, tout tourne, tourne, tourne, tourne ;
ouuuch! Somebody cut the high frequencies!!! However - great job!

Restons modestes mes amis:
