  • @CardingtonLZF Bob was affected by The Beatles earlier than that. Part of the reason he went electric was due to The Beatles' influence.

  • What's Tomato With You?

  • I still thing Springsteen is the greatest songwriter ever..but Bob Dylan a very close second. This is my favourite song from the brilliant Blood on the Tracks album.

  • A great song by Dylan in his prime. The words are heart breaking.

  • Every time I hear the line "brings me a chill" I get chills down my spine.

  • Michael Jackson was also a genius when it came to music & dance. He broke many barriers in music, that people continue in immulate, but there will never be another Michael, just like Bob Dylan. Michael was also a great Humanitarn. but was always very humble about it, & never boasted, or the media just chose to ignore it, tabloid rumors made more money! Bob Dylan & the Beatles will always be my first loves, can't help from sing when a song comes on. We all know the words by heart...our heart!

  • Pobre Dylan

  • if you see me please turn around and pretend you didn't cuz when i recount it all, instead of telling them that you flat out left me flat, i tell them you died in a car accident and i tell them that so my tears seem justified still can't say good bye

one of his best emotional and sentimental songs!pure ! from the buttom of the heart!

  • @igalflint such a sad tune...once read about Dylan commenting on 'blood on the tracks,' people believed the album was about love, Dylan was amazed that people didn't notice the extreme pain throughout that album.

  • My girlfriend has problem with her marrow

  • Great Album, Great Song.

  • perhaps this is my favourite dylan album I highly rate his together thru life album I think his newer stuff is still great and think folk are unfair about his present vocal style I find it relaxed and genuine

  • muy buen trabajo con la traducción gracias

    bob como siempre un genio

  • the blues influenced people like the stones and later led zepplin, Dylan comes from a folk tradition, woody guthrie etc.

  • Dylan has been influenced by a wide range of music. From blues (mainly country blues) to folk to rock. Blind Willie McTell who Bob Dylan actually wrote a song about is one of hte blues musicians that influenced him. McTell is also the original artist to write and perform Statesboro Blues.

  • nice love song

  • American rock started through gospel and later the blues turning into funk, accapella, etc.

The Persuasions weren't likly influenced by either dylan or the beatles, though they do a hell of a version of let it be!!

    Tbear

  • Muy buena traducción

  • grandeee boooob

  • I think all modern rock and pop grows from two main trunks, one on each side of the Atlantic: The Beatles and Dylan. Is there anything that hasn't been influenced by any or both of them?

  • I agree completely

  • Apart from the biggest influence of all on rock, the blues.....

  • @cambiarmivida I would agree, but I would stretch it to 3, The Beatles, Dylan and The Stones. 3 very similar, yet very different music styles!

  • @cambiarmivida If there is, it probably isn't worth listening to.

  • @cambiarmivida The Beatles themselves were heavily influenced by Bob Dylan (his "Freewheelin'" album, and, of course, the drugs) and Bob was heavily effected by the Sgt. Pepper album.

  • @cambiarmivida and both were influenced by the blues. In fact, all modern music comes down to stuff slaves sung two hundred years ago...

  • I ran into an ex of mine tonight and this song really does give me a chill. His words reflect exactly my feelings. Its the song i wish i wrote. What ever makes u happy i'll not stand in your way. Shit i'm either getting sensitive or getting soft.

  • Amazing !!

One of the best song of all time ! BD is a real genius, the lyrics are so poetic and the music is perfect.

    Thanks a lot !

  • one of Bob Dylan's masterpieces

  • This is classic Dylan.

  • Ricky Gervais said this was one of the most beautiful songs of all time ! And It is !

  • @cooperjc8 that's why i'm listening too!

  • WAUUU!

  • que hijo de puta que es... me paso exactamente lo mismo... como lo amo a este viejo divino "tres acordes" dylan... que permanezca por siempre joven el fantasma de la electricidad...

  • This is one of Bob Dylan's best. I love the melancholic feel of the music and lyrics. A real heartbreaker. A timeless underrated classic.

  • absolutely beautiful

  • De mis favoritas

  • My wife of 43 years passed away on March 24th 2009 at 11:00 AM. We listened to Bob a lot for many years.

Oh well, what can I say

  • I am very sorry. Blood on the Tracks is the masterpiece of broken hearts. The music makes us sad and happy moment of our lives. Anyway, it's beautiful anyway. Bob Dylan Rules. Saludos Amigo

  • Thank you for the kind comment. It is appreciated.

    Tom

  • My wife and I have been listening to this since we were in college. Married 13 years. Can't imagine losing her. Prayers for peace to both your souls, brother.

  • So very sorry...you never get over these things, I don't think. People ask if you are taking care of yourself and all that, but it makes me so angry, because they have no idea. Still, it's what I find myself saying to you too, because it's what you say when you are out of ideas. So, take care of yourself, and yes, this is lovely song.

  • god bless...

  • @2members i see it has been a while since your loss but wanted to extend my condolences anyway and send warm regards.

  • okay this song hurts, but I like it that way. Most touching song ever!

  • Dylan is a prodigy!

  • This played at the end of an episode of californiacation :)

  • Why are you telling people? why are you watching Bob Dylan if you hate jews? Just STFU!

  • This is the best love song i ever heard, the depth of feelings always surprise me, and after more 30 years it touchs me deep inside. Amazing!

  • After i saw Bob in the Northrop auditoruim at the U of M on Nov 04 2009 , I left it changed. I think he is briliant songwriter and unique, very special performer. I person of enourmous civil courage, responsilbitly, talent and sensibility. I would like to die listening to a Bob Dylan's song.

  • wonderful song...It talks to heart and touch mind and heart...

  • Comment removed

  • Anyone who says Bob Dylan isn't incredible has clearly not heard the beauty of this song. And I feel sorry for them!

  • ...as the world twirls....

  • Pouring heart....perfect!

  • Still breaks my heart when l hear this.

  • Just a brilliant song!

  • Maravilloso!

  • Awesome song!!!! Simplesmente incrivel... just talk about me

  • bob is a true artist!

  • Excelente...

  • This songs ranks with his 10 best... and if you need to show why he is a great singer, play this song.

  • very sad song

  • bella!!mi piace un sacco.....

  • Oh, Bob! Thank you for your songs. Thank you for your performances! Thank you, Bob!

  • If you see her nd she mentions my name... Mickey Newbury... RIP, Mister.

  • it's so real, the story, the feelings, honesty in looking back into the past, admitting that some lovers always keep a place in one's mind/heart...

  • Grandisima cancion y grandisima traduccion! gracias

  • i m from tangier :)

  • This song is so moving. I remember it from the Blood on the Tracks album, which I wore out two copies of in l975.

I played this on the guitar and sang it back then, too, it was so beautiful.

  • An absolute masterpiece!!

  • thats a lovily song

  • It is virtually impossible to write a better (anti) love-song!! Don´t you dare contradict me! "Tell her she can look me up, if she´s got the time!" (!) I mean: (!)

  • It's not an (anti) love-song. It's a regretful love song. He's wistfully recalling a past love, reconciling what happened but wishing things could be different. The last line isn't said with sarcasm or derision but a small bit of hope.

  • The reason for my parentheses (...) was that I wasn´t sure....Sometimes it´s hard to tell a love song from an anti-love song, isn´t it?

  • ...se la vedi dille ciao, sarà lontana dovunque sia, l'hl lasciato tempo fa e adesso forse è Tunisia..

  • this is just my personal opinion, but this is the best album to listen to when your chick leaves you

  • or anytime really. its a superb album.

  • of course... my favourite album, paradise in earth, perfect all songs. thanks master dylan.

  • ¿Acaso hay algo más grande que esto? gracias por subirlo y por la traducción, hace tiempo las traduje pero escucharla al tiempo está bien.

¿are there something bigger than bobdylan songs like this?

  • the pain which I can relate more than I wish to...

  • Really one of the nicest songs I know of...

  • Please, I'm getting bored of these comparaisons. In every song I hear on youtube, it's written that it's the best song ever...

  • My~ Aren't you precious. Every one stop posting please ~ We don't want precious to be bored.

  • It's nothing about being precious to dislike this kind of annoying comments ! It's really about legitimate exasperation. Music is not about comparaisons, and it's absolute non-sens to argue about what song is the best, and that's neither elist nor precious to say that. That's maybe the opposite.

  • It's really about legitimate 'Freedom of speech'. They have the right to debate which songs are their personal favorites. Whoever is twisting your arm & forcing you to read these obnoxious postings must be made to stop

  • Freedom of speech = freedom to criticate, so you use it the wrong way... I'm just saying it's boring, not that these comments should be forbidden.

  • It subject to interpretation, who used it the wrong way. I looked at your channel, Dylan, Joplin, Bowie ~ many of my favorites. In twenty or thirty years you might be something special, the potential is there. At the moment you're a pompous little ass, & will remain such until you discover it is not all about you.

  • You seem very pretentious man, and very vulgar. Keep in mind your age doesn't allow you this condescendant attitude. I don't see the point speaking with you, so bye bye.

  • Pretentious is exactly what I thought of you .

  • I want to apologize to you Marseille. You are most likely a decent, thoughtful person. I read your comment at the wrong moment, & under difficult circumstances. For me having grown up in the country, an ass is an animal, not something vulgar. Your initial remark which I responded too, appeared very condescending & pretentious, which I am sure is not the way you intended it. I sincerely hope you will forgive me.

  • You are forgiven :) Actually, I really didn't have the intention to be arrogant or anything, was just talking... but I see why you misunderstood it, and there's no problem for me ;)

Have a nice day in the USA !

  • ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

  • just heard jeff buckley's version. thank god this was here for me afterwards...

  • beautiful.. lyrical genius! straight from his heart to mine!! i have to say though.. jeff buckleys has more power behind it.. but its just not the same!

  • Dylan was singing this for real, it was about his own relationship - you can't get much closer to that in a song you wrote and performed, the feelings and emotions are raw, the last verse is heart wrenchingly sad - I don't think she did look him up ! Beautiful thanks for sharing

  • Amazing!

  • I love this song, but have you heard:-

The Water Boys To close to heaven

    Thomas Dolby's I scare myself

    Sheryl Crows I believe

    Neil Youngs Give me strenght

Share the music - let me what you think is as good as this. I'm waiting!!!

  • And, Sheryl Crows - Are you Strong Enough

    Ten CC's - I'm not in love

Tears For Fears - Advice for a younger hearts

    Radiohead's - True loves waits

    OMD - So in love

Joy Division's - Love will tear us apart

  • love the lyrics but the melody sounds like something you make up as you go

  • that is what make it so natural and easy. very very very beautiful. When people think to much about stuff they tend to get away from the actual plot, if you can say that when it comes to music

  • May be, Thats why all the people loves this song, dont you think?

  • I have just listened to Jeff Buckley's version and wasn't impressed. This is Dylan at his very best. cougiebabe is right, it is a very beautiful and personal song, I know exactly where you are coming from.

  • Dylan has been known to rip a few chords or ideals from other artists sure. But that doesnt stop his genius from coming through. I think this is one of his most beautiful songs and quite personal as well.

  • Late for the sky by Jackson Browne.

  • Mum's favourite (:

  • Unbelievable ! Dylan, and how nice. J.J.

  • "and ive never gotten used to it ive just learned to turn it off either im to sensitive or else im getting soft." God do I ever feel that. orphangun is right

  • i like his voice in this.

  • It is virtually inpossible to write a better love song. Ever! There are, no doubt, more beautiful Dylan songs, musicwise, I mean. (Tambourine, Baby Blue etc), but this song is, lyrically speaking, powerful, vigorous, astute, penetrating, subtle, cunning, mellow and painful!! No other song, ever, has achieved that. This song is fucking unique, boys!!

  • could he fuck!

That is one of the greatest songs of all time and dylan has not come close, no one has. hence it was voted the greatest in numerous polls.

  • i was raised on dylan. i was 17 when this album came out. still leaves me speechless.

  • there is an italian cover, "non dirle che non è così", by Francesco De Gregori, it's nice!

  • best song ever written

  • no, that would be stairway to heaven, led zeppelin, but this is top 100

  • Damn soulful song!

  • Dylan is still the only one that can make the boot heels of my mind go wondering

  • Jeff Buckley's version is very bad. What a crime to make from so beautiful song such a pop croon. Despect, Jeff Buckley. Respect, Bob Dylan!

  • amen

  • pop?!

this one is far more pop than buckley's

  • Dylan at his best, he sings with such passion.

  • if any of you get the chance to listen to Jeff Buckley doing this number, listen to it. it's amazing.

  • Que gran canción, simplemente hermosa.

    Beautiful song.

  • love this song

  • This and Neil Young's "Give Me Strength" are the two most heartbreaking songs about a break up. Check out NY's song on youtube.

  • I totally agree!

  • Actually I would also add Jackson Browne's 'Late for the Sky'.
