  • you would have to stand up in vertical your engine, and warm it one flame in a chimney!

  • The problem is, its efficiency is very low. You're losing most of the available energy. Unless you manage to make it highly efficient, it doesn't worth even playing with those...

    gracias

  • Wouldn't these cylinders be fighting with each other trying to go slightly different speeds?

  • Cool video!!

  • you motor sucks compared with other stirling motors. :p

  • dude put one more set of weels on this and flip it over walaa a rc car

  • complimenti e bellissimo

  • que es esoooooooooooooooooooooo

  • It does sound like a car engine! :-)

  • The mesh functions as a regenerator, storing some of the heat when the air is moving towards the cooling apparatus, making the system more efficient.

  • how much of a load can they take befor stalling?

  • none juse enough to keep themselfs running when they get just a little to hot the well stop

  • very little load thats what sucks about them

  • @30GB

Thermoacoustic motors are mostly a novelty, but if you make the piston a magnet and put a coil around it you can generate electricity, just a free piston, no linkage or flywheel needed. Enough of them with solar heating could do some useful work.

  • @plaguepuppy

The problem there is, that you would need a magnet, that keeps it properties at high temperatures. Aaand this probably isn't going to happen.

  • @plaguepuppy Doesnt the magnet have to spin inside the coil?

  • and that is how my children... they came up with an engine :p

  • You don't necessarily need anything cold in the tube, it's just a heat sink to the atmosphere.

  • hello, I'm studing Mechatronics Engineering, and I have to do a stirling engine, and I want to do something like you, but I don't know what is the thing that is inside the tube. I supose that is something cold, but can you tell me please what is inside.

  • It iron mesh or copper mesh
