  • Steely Dan???

  • do you have a homepage with notations and some things

  • Where can I get this track???

  • @CarlosMacMartin

find in the drumless tracks section from my website.

    groovedrumming (dot) com/download_audio_drumless (dot) shtml

  • @GrooveDrummin Thanks!!!

  • You're such a solid drummer. Well done.

  • how do you tune your snare? i have the same one

  • @GrooveDrummin You'd be a GREAT session drummer for Jeff Beck.

  • @jeffreygaudreault

that would be a dream come true :)))

  • Ah, I love this track. I downloaded this one for myself, and it's one of my favorites to play along to.

  • don't know how to do the shuffle but i love this vid

  • And I really admire your fine musicality too!!!

  • nice bro

  • This set sounds boss man! I'm getting a 24" bass Ludwig kit soon, how are you tuning your bass? I've always gone for attack and not roundness, but this tuning sounds rediculous man! Good drummin too

  • @JoeyStewart1990

loose batter, similar tension on reso if anything a little tighter than batter. Thank you bro!

  • Dan, you turned this "drumless track" into a hit!!!

  • @tmaddrummer

    :)

  • Awsome!! Makes me super jealous that I dont have my practice kit mic'd up.

I am actually looking to mic up my kick when I practice with my band. I understand mics but If you want to mic your bass drum and not use bands sound equipment, do you know the best way to go about it. I am just looking to add a little more bottom end without adding major volume. Is there a subwoofer that could be used or p.a. please excuse my stupidity. LOL. I just have a feeling you would know. Cheers

  • @jordanjcm

    Thanks

The cheapest way I could suggest to get a bigger, more boomy sound would be to use a non-ported reso. The only way to achieve this electronically is by getting at least 1000 watts of power... at least one 15" or 18" woofer in a ported cabinet. I find you need this amount of power to be heard over top of the kit or band.

  • @GrooveDrummin Thanks ! So I could look on craigslist for a sub. Anyway you have fantastic natural groove. No amount of practice will give anyone that. That is a gift from above. If I could ask one more ignorant question. what is the best way to film a drum vid for youtube without spending a fortune. I have a cam but the 'sound' is just terrible. I Can really tell the difference whe I film a vid of my acoustic drums, the sound is HORRIBLE. Do I need to mic the whole kit?

  • @jordanjcm

I would say get a camcorder that has the ability to connect an external mic(s) or some of the Sony camcorders record really well with the built in mics. Just make sure the camcorder is not too close to the kit when recording and then zoom in for a closer view. If you do use external mics then place them above the kit pointing at the snare.

  • I hear Roseanna, does anyone else?

  • @Eiderwine No, you hear the Purdie shuffle. John Bonham used it in Fool in the Rain by Led Zeppelin, and Jeff Porcaro borrowed the shuffle for Rosanna

  • I've heard this track before.. what is it?

  • @MikePostDrums

    not sure, it's a drumless i found

  • Yoooo man, I'm defintely feelin' this track. It's pretty universal IMO. Hip hop is my main preference of music, but I enjoy all music. I wish I were as good as you on the drums. Lol

  • what hi hats do you use

  • @AKJW17

These ones are Paiste 2000 14" sound reflections w/sound edge

  • Nice. Sounds influenced by John Bonham

  • very ~~~~~~~~~~~~ nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What's that thing on the left of your hi hat?

  • @zuma5278255424

if it looks like something is there, there is not, but a light reflection

  • Dude! God damn you groove soooo smooth!

  • mate love your groove. what cymbals you using, particularly like your hats. 'dark, light n crispy' (sounds like a meal)

  • great =)

  • dude that was coolest thing i ever heard

  • HEEEY CAN I GET THE LINK FOR THE DRUMLESS TRACK ?

  • @jaycm007 Yes, of course. Just go to my web site groovedrumming dot c o m and look throught the list of other drumless tracks. I believe it's number 51.

  • Very nice grooves man, great shuffle.

  • good groove dude you are my inspiracion

  • what type of mics are you using?

  • @PacificDrummer112

mostly sennheiser but if you look on my youtube profile page you'll see a complete list.

  • Do you use muffling in your bass drum

  • @Bonzotriplets1

    just felt strips, empty otherwise

  • GREAT GROOVE AND KIT!!..DIG THE TUNE TOO!

  • You never lose the feel of the groove once, great playing.

  • very solid, awesome job man!

  • @dorkytwo

Thanks for watching and the compliments.

  • sweet man! i love it =]

  • awesome playing!

  • sounds like fool in the rain

  • What kind of ride do you play?

  • @davss5

    Paiste 20" 2002 power ride

  • @GrooveDrummin Thanks - you have confirmed what I have felt about getting this exact cymbal...so far I like this ride the most...is that what Bonzo used on "Stairway to Heaven"?

  • @davss5

I think he always played the 24", changing from Giant Beat to 2002 as the years went on. If you go to the Paiste website they have sound clips of most if not all of their cymbals...pretty cool and accurate sound.

  • @GrooveDrummin OK - I was imagining that he played a 22" or 24"...yes, I've been to the Paiste website and heard their cymbals (thanks)...I have e-drums now - mostly because I live in an apt...when I had my acoustic set, I had 16" Paiste 2002 crashes...my basement acoustics did not do them justice, but they sounded great when I played them in a larger room with better acoustics...anyway, for my next "dream acoustic set", I expect this 20" ride to be a part of it...thanks again...

  • Oh...and nice fluid playing, too

  • @davss5

    Thanks

  • @GrooveDrummin You're welcome

  • (Without having to listen to the accompanying music) your set sounds great...

  • nice !

    greeting from malaysia

  • man i tell u what.ive been watchin ur vids for about a month now and from the first one i saw i was hooked'man ur a beast'anytime i wanna hear tht great bonzo style drummin i go right to ur vids'ur one of my favorite top five drummers right up there with bonzo

  • @1511zack

I am humbled by your positive comments. Thank you for watching and more to come!

  • As I said last week, re: BURN, you are good drummer to watch and listen to. You have a much more relaxed groove than most of the other youtubers. The advice you gave on triplet singles has already paid dividends. Another question I have is - do you find it difficult to do fast descending singles with only one rack tom?

  • @dvision23

Great to hear it's paying off for you!! When I first started playing I had multiple toms and then years later when I switched over to single rack I wasn't too happy because it was more difficult to execute fast singles as you mention so yes, this was the case but after practice it is back to being comfortable. I would practice rolls up and down for as long as I could and in the beginning mistakes and hitting the rims was all that happened but....practice makes perfect, Now I love it!

  • cool!!

  • mmmmh, fool in the rain style? :) thumbs up

  • @bradiporitmico

    yes :) Thanks

  • nice

  • this has got to be one of my favorite grooves

    i love playing this shuffle

    awesome vid!

  • this is great! most if not all half-time shuffle videos on youtube are people trying to explain the proper way to play the different variations of the shuffle (zep, toto, purdie) but nobody just takes a groove and jams it out! so thank you for this!

  • I love the 480p on this videoes ;D

  • Dan ,you always have one of the best sounding set's around.i wish you would do a video on your micing technique for all of us who will never be as good as you but at least our drums will soung good.

    Great Vid.

  • perfect job

  • Good playing. What kind of snare is that?

  • are those 30 second note between your two floor toms around 1:12

  • It's a 16th note triplet L - R - F

    16"-18"-kick
