i`m sorry to say but these practise ain`t real islam. the people who are performing these acts cannot single out any verse in the Quran where it is mentioned that self harming is permitted.Islam is a simple and straight forward religion but unfortunately there will be loads of people who will innovate practices which is totally against islamic teachings.one will find that most of these practices are cultural and against the teaching of islam. may allah put them in the right path.ameen

i was a shia then converted to sunni :) really glad i did. i have never heard a shia speak of the prophet (PBUH) they are always going on about imams. listen imams were just normal people like you and me sure they done great things which should be appreciated but not great enough that people should be on the streets doing suicide.
