I struggle to think why anyone thought Will was being serious. The man is one of the funniest, most aware writers living today, there's no way what he said was serious. I've just watched this full documentary on Google videos and it surprised me how completely ignorant WIll Self was. In a lot of ways it was incredibly ironic, as Will Self was by leaps and bounds the most dense person on the program, believing himself to be of towering intellect because he houses away a mass storage of ultimately useless knowledge. By being condescending and condemning Karl because of his choice to be happy over unhappy and smart showcased what a fool he was. Karl is a good man.

Despite his knowledge, Self proves to be not very clever exactly because this, at least in part, set up. He's too busy representing himself to be handling the situation with humour.. It's a hilarious take on the part of the intellectual world that lets the ego get in the way of curiosity, flexibility, a rethinking of basic ideas and a willingness to put yourself into another person's mind (Some might say this is impossible with Karl). Bottom line, we should all dare to ask more stupid questions!
