I know how hard I've personally struggled with ADHD, and I know the stigma attached to it. When I first saw this video, it touched me like no other and made me cry, yet I still I got embarrassed. Because of the stigma attached to this disorder.
While I know my own struggles (it feels like my brain goes to war with itself 95% of the time, I have virtually zero short term memory, etc.), I was embarrassed because of the dramatic music attached to the preview, everything else...because I knew
@MsLakaga (cont'd) how other people would perceive it...BECAUSE of the stigma attached to it. In the New York Times article I read, it said, “He’s not constructing an artifice,” Haney-Jardine said. “He’s terribly flawed, and the movie will show that. But he is trying to do good.”
I really hope this documentary shows that...if you're truly ADHD, it can be GD miserable. I hope that this documentary DOES remove some of the stigma attached to ADHD so that I don't automatically feel guilty
@MsLakaga feel guilty about a documentary that accurately portrays (emotionally) just how much I've struggled with it. It sucks....I love that I'm zany, creative....but my god I would love to be able to pick up/organize my house, handle having a credit card or even a DEBIT CARD (I have to use all cash now/checks)...it just can really suck sometimes.
I recently was diagnosed with Adult ADHD and am coming to terms with what it all means....I am looking forward to learning more about this young man's journey and connecting the dots...
not to be mean or hurt any one but they act like its cancer and they can die any day like wtf its ADHD i have it its not that big of a deal you take your medicine and you go on with your day
@stewie2510 Obviously you need to see the full movie and get more nformation about the disorder...Most with ADHD go undiagnosed and their success in life is limited or stunted...itsa real awakening to a new world, which needs to be renavigated - its a coming out o f the closet, almost, at least it is for me...lets figure it out together!
@stewie2510 it still sucks sometimes for even those who take their medicine. Medication helps but it's not a cure...for me at least it's not.
I struggle like no other with it, and this video/New York Times article made me cry...but at the same time I felt embarrassed about it, because like you said, it's not cancer...but that's the embarrassment associated with the stigma attached to it. The truth is, it sucks like no other for a lot of the people who are truly ADHD, yet who really want to
@stewie2510 (cont') do something with themselves but just can't get it together....stewie2510, read the New York Times article regarding this. If you can't relate to struggling like Andres has, then I don't think you're ADHD....a lot of people are overdiagnosed. Just saying.
I hope this documentary isn't going to be put back on the shelf now that Andres was traded. My son was diagnosed with ADHD earlier this year. Right when we first heard about this movie. Please release it. People/kids with ADHD need to understand that they could still be something great!! We're going to miss you Andres!! Center field will not be the same without you!!
Anyone know when this is actually going to come out. My nephew is a avid baseball player with ADHD and we really want to do a family night to watch it. I can't find it anywhere yet.
i love you andres !!! you're an amazing addition to the sf giants, honest!!! without you we would never have the team we have now!!! YOU'RE AMAZING!! i love you :) <3
I was simply anxious to greet the courage and the determination of this man : Andres Torres ! I was able to look at several videos and to each of them , my heart began beating so hardly ! Andes Torres got touched me ! His glance says about it so long ; it is the reflection of a beautiful personality . Just a common person whom her fight makes exceptional !!! Thank you for all this emotion !!
For him to come up to the big leagues after so long in the Minors, then become a member of a great Franchise and then be a part of a World Series win, that was one of the best ways a player could be rewarded. They were very deserving of that win and you could see it in his face after the last strike. Andres is only going to get better. Best of luck to you Andres The Giant and all your accomplishments to come <3
Thank you for the time you spent with me at Fanfest. Your talk with me and this YouTube video has changed my family forever. My wife saw this YouTube video after I encouraged her to watch it after I met and talked with Andres at fanfest. She so inspirited to embrace her ADHD condition and receive therapy and medication. Her actions inspired my son to watch this YouTube video and now he is receiving help through therapy and medication for his ADHD.
I remember the first time that I saw Andres Torres.. late innings, someone got on base and Torres got on as a pinch runner. I remember Krukow mentioning his speed..then the camera focused on Torres..somehow I had this weird feeling that he was going to be someone that I would be proud of.
Andres is such an amazing person and in a world where there are so many athletes who take for granted their talent and their opportunities I hope they watch a player like Andres. He is so thankful and deserves the recognition he is beginning to get and more. I'm so happy for him and know it must have been so hard to toil in the minors for so many years before finally achieving success. I hope he continues on and has an incredibly successful career.
Thank you for this.. My nine year old son has ADHD and everyday we struggle. He doesn't have any friends, he tries hard everyday to behave, to do well in school and to try to make and keep friends. Some days are better than other but I hope that he can watch this film and see that even though you may not always be liked and things may be a little harder for you that you can be successful.
I rooted for Andres to make the team, and then I rooted for him to get his due. So happy to see the world get to learn about this amazing man with such a huge heart.
i can't wait to see the movie, i love Andres and this hit home to me, because my little brother has ADHD, and this movie will be so moving that when it comes out i can't wait to show the family. Andres Torres is what i believe what makes up a great Baseball player: Greatful, Skilled, Honest, Hard working and just in his eyes, angelic.
been a fan all my life, with the NL West title, the NLCS title&being called champions in San Francisco. It was all amazing.
Que lindo video Andres y como te dije hace unas horas atras ahi en el 211. Eres una gran persona muy humilde y con los pies firmes en la tierra y por eso Dios te bendice. Pa adelante gigante como dicen los boricuas con cojones jajajajaj.
