Sweep picking?? Remind me again when it was that Satch does sweep picking in this video? If you're referring to the left hand hammer-ons with the right hand damping the strings, then yes you're right, it doesn't sound pretty, its not supposed to. Its meant to sound outside the box and mix things up a bit. He uses it sparingly, and if you check out Cool #9, there's some more of it there, and it fits perfectly.
