I don't agree the "experiment" failed. Maybe in the original parameters, but the community evolved beyond those parameters. We're no longer in the building, true, but I'd like to think we were more than just a container of physical space. When I first started becoming familiar wit the internet the first thought in my mind (and I was an established attorney at the time) was that Rochdale was appropriate for cyberspace.
Rochdale had pretty much faced it's demise in early 1970. A lot of exiles to Vancouver and elsewhere. Not much of the original story is documented.....James(shared with Dave), the 13th floor Zeus. Do remember Sunshine Dave. After the original council was defeated...people like Judith Merill moved, and Marshall and other professors didn't come anymore. Sad the expermint failed. Not that those in the documentaries weren't trying, but little is really documented.
