  • The first one is iffy, I'd probably grant a takedown, but the rules say: A-) TAKE DOWNS: Any kind of knocking down the opponent or being taken down on his back side, 2 points.

It's arguable that he decided to jump into closed guard, but you can argue he was going down as well. It's a toss up, next time shoot a convincing shot, and they'll give you points.

  • first match, he's gonna count it as a failed take down cause he pulled guard, second match it should of been a disqualification for crossing his feet in attempting to straight ankle, not only that he tried to knee bar that is not allowed in blue belt. an you must control the sweep,he should of gave you an advantage though.

  • @TheDirtyCisco He wasn't going for a knee bar, it was a straight ankle lock, you can cross your feet, his outside foot never crossed the hip so it was perfectly legal. Pretty much the same thing you see in every match of cobrinha vs rafael mendes.

  • It was a TD and the 2nd part was a sweep. All day err day!

  • @Armbar4you on second opinion its hard to say since he went right into the knee lock, however you ended up on your knees. Were you able to free your leg? Im unable to tell since the vid ends.

  • and lol at not controlling the sweep... the guy in white stayed on top- THATS controlling the sweep.

  • it should have been a takedown after the competitor on top freed himself of the guillotine attempt.

second situation- it should have been a sweep and 2 points for that.

in my opinion the judges were mistaken in both cases.

  • in my opinion that was a take down cause he attacked the leg before he pulled guard. second video I don't really see how anyone could say that's not a sweep. he clearly was in guard attacked the back but lost it then ended up with the sweep. If nothing else I think he should get a advantage and a sweep. That's just my opinion though

  • @GASmotorsports the sweep part of the video was me. I asked the ref and you can see me looking at the scoreboard to see if I got the points which I didn't. The ref told me because I didn't control the sweep, I was only awarded advantage. So I lost 2-0.

  • @hercheck The problem is you landed into 50/50. When people land in 50/50, which is a neutral position, and then when you got up, it's always been an advantage for the guy who gets up. Here's the rule: Observation 1: it will not be considered a sweep if the move does not begin from inside the guard or half guard.

Your scramble put you into 50/50, from the 50/50 you stood up, thats an advantage, the ref was 100% right.
