@tronald42 I bought it at the same time I bought the carder from Susans Fiber Shop here in Wisconsin. I don't know what the brush attachment looks like. If it looks like a hand carder with long straight tines, then yes, it's the same.
i'm just a beginner and i think the two drum carders i've been offered were stuffed cause they didn't work nearly so well as yours......how rude that they think i'm so dumb as not to do some research first?
lol!!! i absolutely *love!!!!!!!!!* this video!!! had a great laugh and learned lots too, love it. subscribing, and looking forward to watching lots more of your vids straight after this one :) thank you!!
Hey, rexenne, you remind me of my crazy sister. I sheared sheep for the first time and you are helping me do the rest. Just getting ready to card the washed wool. Thanks! Fleece be with you!
I LOVE your enthusiasm! So many people get on here and are just like "blah blah blah" in the most bland tone EVER and makes me not care about what they are saying. You make this FUN so yay! :D
@rexenne I just found your tutorials last night ...lol stayed up and watched most of them. This is the most fun I have ever had learning something!! You are a fun person :)
@DianaLouisiana Yeappers, you gots it! Roving is also called Top because it contains the longest fibers in the wool. Unfortunately, because of that, vendors love to charge more for "Premium Top". It's just wool that has been carded by a ginormous machine...nothin so special as to be "premium". Thanks for the positive feedback!
Great video.Learned something new.I use a bamboo placemat for felting and i loved how u used it to pull it of the drum..magnificent.Also freaked out when i saw u use the paddle carder for a top brush while the fiber is still on the wheel.i have a set of those from b4 i got the drum carder.I still use them to flick out my locks instead of buying all new flick carder. Now i can use them for that to instead of buying a brush attatchment.Nice.
Hey, which drum did you get? I just bought my Deb's Deluxe (It got here last Friday, woohoo) I got the fur drum and I'm thinking I should have maybe gone with the other drum... My batts come out very compact, but that might be because I use the burnishing tool very liberally?
Thank you for that video. Even after almost one year, you're still teaching how to use a drum carder. You're fantastic because you enjoy it also! Jojos from Quebec, Canada
Great video, thank you for sharing and making it fun too. It's interesting to see how much work goes into the prepared fibre we buy, I can't decide if it's better to keep buying it or do it myself :)
LOL...it is definitely less time consuming to just buy it already prepared but I find more satisfaction in doing the work myself. :) Thanks for the positive feedback as it is always appriciated and welcomed!
Thanks to you! (I blame you completely!) I just bought my first drum carder! I have been wanting to do this since the first time I saw this video!!! You are INSPIRING!
I was looking for a video on how to card wool. I found your videos and watched the whole series on drum carding. Love the videos! Hope you keep making more.
I love your videos, they are so fun to watch and better yet, informative! I have a question: what is the name of the brush that you use to slick down the fiber on the drum? I can't figure it out, and I want to make sure I have everything I need when I purchase a carder. It seems like there is a lot of confusion out there as to what things are actually called! Any help is appreciated!
Thanks so much for all the postive feedback! If anyone is unaware, I am doing a fundraiser to raise the funds to replace a RAM chip in my puter that is crappin out, making it impossible to edit video to upload to youtube. I have two more waiting to be edited! You can find my fundraiser page at rexenne. chipin. com/ new-1gig-ram-chip (take out spaces). I appriciate every little bit that helps! Thanks for your consideration and support!!
I really don't know which would be the best. It more personal perference. The Pat Green was recommended to me by Susans Fiber Shop. I'd say try before you buy, if at all possible. Same with any sort of major spinngin equipment purchase. If that is not possible be sure to note the return policies. Thanks for the positive feedback!!
Thanks for a great video that's entertaining & educational! Good graphics, great pacing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge & wisdom. Now to get to work on processing my fleeces!
Finally I now know how to work a drum carder, thank you so much. I figured through using an old one by myself but had a very hard time getting the batt off. Then because it was so old the carder points had all rusted and broke off into my batt, took a long time with a magnet to get them out
That was GREAT! I just started learning to spin last winter and I bought a used carder from a neighbour. Now I'm even more keen to try it out. Also, to get a longer 'place mat' you could use one of those Chinese calendars. Next time I get one I'll put it aside for this purpose. Great idea. Thanks!
I like the licker in drum on the Fricke better than any other I have tried. BUT one must be careful of all those little points! I jab myself at least once per use!
Doh! The only thing I seem to be constantly jabing myself on it that cleaning brush that looks like a wicked shoe horn. My left thumb is now officially holy...full of holes! LMAO!
Awesome tutorial! Just wonderful! Entertaining and educational - who could ask for more? Great way to sell people on getting a drum carder too. If only I had the space. Hmm...
where do you buy fiber from? o.o
susara16 6 months ago
@susara16 Online, at fiber conventions, local farmers, other fiber artists. Check your local listings for sheep's wool or wool roving.
