  • How is this a "remake"? These look nothing like the original Doom2 maps. Also, they look just plain terrible (not to be rude, but they honestly look bad).

  • hey, don't give up. release the damn thing, or you just wasted your time. i've been working on a 32 level jdoom megawad all by myself for about two years also, and i'm in no hurry to release it until it's done. i'm proud of all the maps i've created. i keep coming back to them and adding new stuff. i suggest you take your best maps, keep adding, and changing stuff to them until you're happy with what you've got. this is pretty good work you've done here.

  • Ok biggest problem with your map all the lighting is the same everywere change it up or its "just another Doom wad"

  • The map looks kind of flat, along with the textures. Adding more decorations, lights, etc. makes levels more interesting. Try to stay away from having plain straight walls throughout the entire map. Also, staircases, elevators, buttons, switches and whatnot help the gameplay by a long shot. Also I noticed you must be using a 32x32 grid with snap to grid on. Lower Unpeg the door treks too. I bet you've improved all of that already anyways since that was about 2 years ago.

  • when did you get started to make doom levels? i can tell, its hard to make a good map, it takes training, i was like you , trying to make a remake, but then i saw much more intresting projects, but, training gives skill, tip: try to make some intresting envoriment, like crates, higer/lower ground, false exits, traps, and well, Good Luck!

  • Yea i though it was you. My maps were no better then this when i first started. In fact they were even worse :(

    Also, after Nine anomaly's (oskyrt 3) i am embarking on a huge project, it's a megawad for Doom 2. It will be a 64 map Zdoom in hexen format wad that will use the colored lighting feature and the PSX/Doom 64 sounds to create a PSX style megawad! But first i have to finish Oskyrt 3. Also good luck on whatever it is you are doing right now. :)

  • uhm, bad desing of level, this levels remember my wolfestein 3D, add more structure, more detail, outdoor zones and use hexen format ;)

  • Small, different rooms filled with monsters, seperated by doors. This level lack serious arhitectural issues. No mention the stupidness..

  • yeh its only half finished in this vid, but your right when it comes to decoration. making the map is easy, but decorating the map with stuff to make it slow computer friendly (as well as other things) it limits my imagination, but with my comp, its unlimited imagination.

    I would also like to point out that this is now a solo project. Chubz pulled out due to microsuck wista. Its a bitter pill to swallow :(

  • needs more detailing, looks like the stuff i made when i started out, here is some CC the point of a remake is to get the feel of the origional while still being new

    ill upload another video of my MAP04 for the ZDoom 2 Hell on Earth project sometime later to give you an idea of the detailing you should learn.

  • i dont care if i get flamed, just tell them to go easy and maybe point out my mistakes on it :) also this map may not make it into my megawad project due to the fact its a bitch of a map to repair

  • Just wanted to say... It looks very large and crowded for a first level, but I guess it will be OK if the later ones will be even bigger and more crowded (that would be hell a lot of work but with an awesome result) :D.

  • Thank you! and the map looks WAY different to what you can see in the vid. And i'll try your result but seeing as this was my very first successful map, i think i did ok, and i'll take your advice on what you said! :) Ideas are most welcome!
