  • Just the fact that someone is playing a free song is heartening enough for me...Good on Joe for keeping these great songs alive.

  • Kossoffs spirit is missing this bloke is good but shouldn't he be doing some erm original stuff.?

Kossoff came from a jewish background (his fathers side) and to me he could come across as melancholey (sp?) sometimes ballsy I well remember his father David kossoff giving a talk on drugs and his son the talks were called the 'late great Paul' It was that hot summer of 76

  • @70goldtop I am going to be very pretentious and ask you to take a fuck to yourself or better yet post your Mr.Big cover on youtube.

  • half you guys are saying he needs to come up with his own licks and stop sounding like other people and the other half are saying he doesn't sound enough like other people or influences...? Gotta love the retarded keyboard wars on youtube,,,

  • Joe Bonamassa is a phenomenal guitarist! -but I´m still waiting for his OWN ideas and licks!

  • @gktde9874 dude he has like 12 albums and two live dvds lol

  • @gktde9874 Hell will freeze over 1st. Try Rory Gallagher, he's 100% original! Bonnatwatta also stole His guitar too!

  • To me Joe's just trying to carry on the legend, whats so bad about that, but actually he plays sooooo good, whats the problem. He is mr. guitar man.

  • This guy doesn't sound or play anything like Kossoff. How much of an influence could he have been?Bullshit

  • If you think Joe is a "Flavor of the MONTH" YOU haven't been paying attention to the music scene for the past several YEARS

  • Why would he copy the song note for note? We all know that Joe can't play it any better than the Koss did. Joe can't know how Koss felt, so why should he try to act like he knows he does? I think Joe's cover is awesome and tributary, as opposed to a boring "rehearsal" of the album version in a performance setting.

  • @itchyundies you probably dont know his guitar playing very well, so you cant just judge him from one video. and he's not trying to get his rig to sound like kossoff's this is joe normal awesome sort of sound

  • There is only one Mr. Big...and he never wore a suit!

  • @shirtcreek but joe has a world of respect for him... and that should be appreciated!

  • @matthewrotherham I have a World of respect to him but I won't get a go on it!

  • Hats off to him trying to play and sing at the same time. However Mr B misses the chance to do the old interpaly between Bass and Guitar which makes the orginal so great. Perhaps his bass player wasn't up to it?

  • Warren Haynes' voice is much better suited for this song.

  • 70goldtop show some love. Like B.B King shows to Joe. :-) :-)

  • You probably won't believe me but i've held that guitar \m/ \m/ :D

  • Good that....also a very scary slide player...Al

  • Saw Paul K play with Free at the Half Moon Putney and Nag's Head Battersea with Free as a bunch of spotty teenagers, and many times since.PK was nowhere near as versatile a guitarist.

    Fact.

  • man that is just so wrong

  • He pulls off Kossoff's vibrato splendidly, and that is no mean feat.

  • I'm kind of shocked when musicians bag on other musicians. If you don't like Joe's playing then that's fine. You can't please everyone. But to deny his talent shows some major deficit in your own ego. The guy works really hard, has a LOT of fans and I dig his playing.

  • @MrQuinceymagoo Signed

  • he ain't paul kossoff, but he seems talented..... singing probably better than guitar

  • @incarnazione your a moron i saw him live he is one of the best guitarist of this time!!

  • This guy's focusing so hard on copying Paul's vibrato he can't even follow the simplist chord progression of the song. That's why he's not great.Sorry to break all you "Guitarworld" readers hearts.

  • @70goldtop Why don't you take a couple of valium and listen to some Carpenters or Bread albums untill you come off your meth high and can think straight and act like a human being.

  • @kc12112 Wrong, wrong and wrong on all counts.Just a regular blues guy with a good ear.Too bad you're on the wrong side of the fence.Listen to some old Johnny Winter and better yet, play a little. You'll see the light. This guy is a lightweight.Kinda like yourself.Huh?

  • @kc12112 Why don't you jump off the bandwagon and try to think for yourself?

  • @70goldtop When are you on your sell out world tour, please let me know you fucking balloon...! Mr Goldknob..! Bellend...!

  • Mr Big on the Free Live album is the greatest live track ever recored..IMHO

  • At the end of the day joe bonamassa is up on stage living the dream, even if you don't like him, he doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. especially to wannabe morons who probably can't play a tuned note. he's more successful then most people who will ever comment on this page. oh, and i would bet money that Paul Kossoff would have loved this.

  • @sleevedagger ha, bout as much as he would have loved watching the guy bang his wife I'll bet

  • I wonder if he changed the string gauge, Koss's high pitch E started at 14 and went up from there. Koss used really heavy string gauges. I've used 12 some of my guitars it's tough to bend with such heavy gauges.

  • As much as I fucking love playing guitar, I really hate the guitarist community. Guitarists are so bitchy and quick off the mark to tell somebody that they are doing it wrong, or not worthy of playing a great song. I mean, I am not a great Bonamassa fan, I don't think he is as great as people make out, but can't you just appreciate the music?

    Here's a good one.

How many guitarists does it take to change a light bulb?

    100. 1 to change the light bulb, and 99 to say they could do it better.

  • If anyone deserves to touch that guitar its Joe...

  • YeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhBig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You know 70goldtop, Leonardo Da Vinci once said, "It's a poor student who doesn't surpass his teacher."

Well my clueless friend, Bonamassa has DEFINITELY surpassed his idol Paul Kossoff. And since Bonamassa is WAYYYYY too humble to ever admit that, I did it for him.

  • @boredtodelusionFan This guy surpassed Kossoff? Not in this lifetime. In a few months everyone will finally be off this "flavor of the month" and forget about Bonamassa.I don't get it.I think people just like to say his name or something.

  • @70goldtop P.S....Glad to see you know this guy personally.

  • @70goldtop Are you a natural born dumbass or a self made asshole?

  • @kc12112 I would invite either accusation as long as I'm not anything like this flavor of the month guy....or anything like his goofy followers like you.He turned this song into nonsense bullshit and you supported it.Just because you're not a dimple on this guy's ass musically does NOT mean he's good.Just means he sucks and you suck worse.

  • shakey fingers . . top man joe !

  • The truth is this...nobody is gonna sound like anybody else. None of us can sound exactly like Jimi, Stevie Ray, Van Halen or Paul Kossoff. Joe is just displaying some hero worship here. He loves Koss and idolizes him! And he is helping keep Kossoffs memory and playing alive by telling ppl about him. Sure he can't copy him, but that's not what he's really trying to do...give Joe a break! please!

  • AS good as Joe is,not even close.I saw Paul in his Band Free in the 70's at Middlesbrough town hall.I was there ,says it all

  • Meh, pretty lousy.

  • I like his kossoff vibrato in this song, but I miss the feel that free put in this song.. His band can't put that same feel in this song. There is nothing so special as free playing mr. big, in my opinion.

  • THe vibrato is just like Kossof!!Nice!

  • Awesome! I heard the Koss sound loud and clear. Chilling.

  • Dear hendrix950............. actually I cant be bothered to stoop to your level. Lighten up for goodness sake.

  • @docnozzle i know, hendrix950 talks utter shit, there's always one isn't there?

  • This guy is such a fucking fuck. He could at least give Paul some respect and actually play the song right especially if he's going to play his guitar. And another thing is if your going to play his guitar string it with 12s or 11 at least you shitfuck. And dont be so damn cocky especially because you suck ass.

  • Joe is cool...very nice guy... great rocknroller

  • @outtacastatv You say Joe is crap, and i popped over to your channel and seen you playing with sock puppets. You sir are a tool. JOE ROCKS \m/

  • @nikgottheblues sock puppets! lol what a cock

  • You say Joe is crap, and i popped over to your channel and seen you playing with sock puppets. You sir are a tool. JOE ROCKS \m/

  • this guy is fuckin crap bang a pair of shades on, but a fuckin nerd is a nerd

  • @outtacastatv nothing wrong with being a fuckin nerd.as to him being crap? well thats just "fuckin" nonsense.

  • @MUDSHARK111 imo he is crap in your opinion i'm wrong which is fine x

  • @outtacastatv so you can do better can ya?

  • @Jackiesstash08 to be honest yes guitar playing singing no! but at least i'm honest

  • @outtacastatv ok i can't argue as i can't see for myself but i find it hard to beleive you'd be a better player considering JB started playing when he was about 4 and practised and played 12 hours a day for the next thirty years.

  • @Jackiesstash08 i'm sorry mate now you are talkin shit so when joe has put a billion hours in will he be better than hendrix! mate i seriously aint shittin you i'd jam with him no fear!

  • @outtacastatv lets see you then, come on post a video.

  • @Jackiesstash08 no point mate if you were near to where i live i'd ask you round a show you but i aint puttin a shitty clip on here for you to say it's shit so you can pretend that the boring jb is good!

  • @outtacastatv : big words, lame excuses.

  • @Shellpink fuk off cunt

  • @outtacastatv now even the words are lame....backyard-wannabe.

  • @Shellpink cunt off fuk

  • @outtacastatv , that's really creative, I'm impressed. I suppose, your self-praised guitar playing is on the same level?

  • @Shellpink yes

  • such a pleasure to hear that unmistakable sound. Yes its a different solo. but that sound

takes me right back. Well done Joe. I know Koss is rockin the heavens. Rest in rock Paul.

  • Wow, the solo Playing is Outstanding, paul would have given a big Applause for that . thumbs up Joe ! :)

  • Who put the pickup covers back on Arthur ?

  • Joe, paying homage to Koss as you do is absolutely aces. However, you need to call up Andy F. to guest once in a while to play the legendary bass solo!

  • @IGY5758 I agree but the last I heard Andy is struggling with being H.I.V positive and is just trying hard to function and lead an ordinary life and recording music is still his hope and dream.

  • que dice sobre jimi hendrix? no logro entenderlo

  • I'm not Joe's biggest fan, but he does have great technique and tone. I don't like his voice though.... but who cares!

  • I cant believe how well he did that kossoff solo, truly a gem of time.

  • What else than a Les Paul , the one and Only, and this one he plays is holy, because its Pauls , RIP and great job Mr. Bonamassa !
